Ingame browser: yar or nay?

After messing around with my bugged operator in the orbiter, something came into my mind: what about an ingame browser we could use from either the menu or the codex? If you're looking for something you'll most likely check the wiki instead of the codex in any case, so being able to open it ingame might come in handy.

It would really help a lot if some third party domains could be whitelisted so they open a browser window, just like links to the official warframe pages.  That way we could drop links to the wiki in chat for people to use (don't know how well that would work on consoles, with their default browsers).

An entire in game browser though is a bad idea, as they become a security issue (think phishing attacks), and it isn't exactly easy keeping them up to date to display most webpages.  Even EVE:Online removed their in-game browser, that had been part of the game for years, because it was simply too much work.

If you want a browser window, get a second monitor.  Pretty much every modern motherboard has integrated graphics these days, any good dedicated GPU will also have more than one monitor connector, and a 14" XGA monitor from a skip is good enough to show webpages on.

Steam has its own in-game browser. You need to run Warframe through Steam in order to be able to purchase Tennogen items, so you might as well use Steam's in-game overlay to use their in-game browser of you really don't want to Alt+Tab.

And for those of us who prefer standalone?

Then you can deal with not using Steam. But there's no reason DE would implement their own in game browser when it's not needed and when many players have the feature already. Doing so would just create redundancy and be a waste of resources with no return.

Nay. I see no reason for this unless it's entirely game/lore related with no access to the real web (like GTA online's phone browser). A fake game browser like that could be kinda neat though. Darvo's discount website and Nef Anyo's stock market. A fake browser could open up many possibilities for both gameplay and lore.

An complete in-game browser is a terrible idea, as it's really resource-intensive to keep up acceptable security. It was taken out of EVE online (or at least is in the process of being removed), because of how much of a pain keeping it secure was.
