Well, seeing as I mightn't be able to play PoE for a good week or even a month if especially unlucky, Can I pose thee all a question?

How's the update as a whole? Was it worth the wait?

I like the update, but it is plagued with familiar problems. Let's look at the Pros and Cons. (From my experience and perspective at least).

Pros:

- Expansion of the lore: More lore about Cetus, Plains of Eidolon and the Ostrons are now here. There's plenty of new information about the battle which took place during the Old War as well, about the Eidolon Sentients which you fight during nighttime.

- Enemy levels are generally fine: Title speaks for itself. I can tell how far I must go to come across higher-level enemies and where I may stay away from if I don't want to be curbstomped by level 40's and above. There are plenty of places for leveling frames and weapons.

- Atmosphere: The Plains of Eidolon and Cetus are, in itself, amazing. Cetus feels like a vibrant and exotic community with people living there - not an empty place like relays. During the day, the Plains of Eidolon are quite eventful and there are plenty of Grineer patrols to fight, plus secret caves to find. There is also wildlife you can kill. Night is nice and more quiet, less events, and you get to see the Eidolon Teralyst and its minions roaming the landscape.

Cons:

- Archwing expenses: Remember how they hyped up how Archwing was going to be a massive addition to Plains of Eidolon and how you can fly across the Plains easily? Yeah, well, you're gonna have to wait. A lot. You have two ways of getting Archwing, neither of which seem to be quicker than the other. You can research it at a Clan Dojo, but that takes forever. So, if you're like me and want to bypass the wait wall, you can buy it for plat on the market. The only problem? You bought another wait wall. The Archwing launcher requires some resources from the Plains. Most of them are fine, except one. Fish Oil. And how do you get this supposedly important Fish Oil? By fishing, of course! And fishing only yields a small amount of Fish Oil over a large period of time! And you need 150 Fish Oil to finish the Archwing Launcher! And if it wasn't bad enough, you only get 50 Archwing Charges before you have to do the entire thing all over again! The whole reason I bought it with plat was to skip the wait wall! I feel cheated! :sadcry:

Enemy Range and Accuracy: Hey, you there! Yeah, you! The Tenno 500 meters away from us! I'm going to shoot at you with my Grakata, a weapon which should not be good across extremely long distances! But guess what? It does anyway! My weapon has pinpoint, hitscan accuracy and can do incredible damage even when you're trying to dodge! And I can see you waaaaay over there, even though I was looking in the opposite direction! I'm just going to drain your shields and health now with my impossibly-accurate Grakata and kill you. Have fun!

- Bounties and Standing: Ugh, where to start here. The Bounties are terrible. Each mission you go on, there is some kind of massive problem with it. Exterminate? Sorry, the final target is hiding in a cave which you can't find! Caches? Sorry, the caches either didn't spawn in or are also in a cave you can't find! Escort? Refer to the previous dot point. Defense? Have fun with one thousand enemies surrounding you, plus a constant barrage of mortars that come from a turret which takes five Soma Clips to destroy! Plus, flying enemies which are incredibly hard to hit from the ground, so the best way to fight them is with Archwing, which you don't have because you haven't caught 300 fish yet! And the Standing you get from the Bounties? Minuscule. That is, if you can actually finish a Bounty without being curbstomped by fifty thousand Grineer soldiers with the accuracy of goddamn Roland Deschain!

- Reinforcements: This is incredibly infuriating. If you alert any Grineer, they will throw up a reinforcements drone within milliseconds, which will summon reinforcements before you can destroy it. And when reinforcements come, you literally have the entire Grineer Army on your tail. You will be chased and chased and chased until you either lose them, go to Cetus, or die. Trying to fight them all is suicide because it is literally endless. It's so annoying when I don't even attack a Grineer, if they see me a thousand miles away, that Reinforcements Drone is going up and no more fishing for you, because you have everything the Twin Queens can throw at you on your tail!

- Flying enemies: Specifically Dargyns. I seriously hate them with a passion. They constantly fly around, and you can never lose them. They will hunt you till the ends of the earth just to drop thousands of rounds onto you, shredding your shields and health. I had to use two revives on one Dargyn. Not to mention because they are constantly flying around, it's quite hard to hit them if your weapon isn't hitscan. The best way of killing them is probably to take flight yourself, but the only problem is, well, refer to dot point one.

But don't be disheartened. When I'm not failing at Bounties, and simply exploring, I'm actually having fun with the game. These are problems which should be fixed, but aren't gamebreaking enough to make me ragequit. Overall, good update, but it is plagued with very familiar problems such as grindwalls, terrible enemy AI and mechanics.

I rate it a 7.5/10.

Yes, I know this is a bit of a rant. I just had to get it off my chest.

I honestly found the whole experience to be underwhelming. It helped that I had the Final Fantasy VI overworld theme playing, but every camp felt the same. Every area was identical. Hunting was tedious. Eidelons were an annoyance.

Still, had a bit of fun using Ivara and my Vulkar Wraith.

Honestly, I don't remember posting that.

Currently waiting for that one dood to finish a drawing for my character

Well, you didn't - I just edited the text in the quote tab to display "Prolonged Silence?"
Still, good to see you're still with us to a degree.

Everyone else is hyped about the new Star Wars, while I'm excited about season 11 of X-Files.

Don't get me wrong. I am a HUGE Star Wars fan, but I liked the old canon. Star Wars Rebels basically replaced The Force Unleashed, Rey replaced Kyp Durron, etc.

I like old Star Wars (and the tens of thousands of years of established canon), not the new stuff.

I was reading through some posts before I made my form, and I just want to tell you something I found.

Force Unleashed is still canon. A small detail in Rogue One makes it so. While they're lookin' through code names for different plans to find the Death Star, they mention project Black Sabre, which is the same name as the cloning Project for Starkiller.

While I want to to be canon, that scene was full of easter eggs. They mentioned Darksaber, which was the stripped-down Deathstar the hutts built several years after Episode VI. Unfortunately, it still isn't canon.

Also, Mr/Ms/WhateverPartOfTheRainbow who owns this Roleplay, I have a few questioned that may have already been answered.

  • With the PoE update, are Zaw's (and by an extension, Amps) eligible to be used here?
  • Warframe Augments?
  • Riven modifications on certain weapons?

  • Nope! PoE wasn't out during the initial instigation of this story thread and therefore Cetus and their technologies, resources, etc. hold no influence in this arc. Sorry!
  • Well, I mean I suppose if you feel it necessary. Mods and such don't really hold much bearing in a role-play scenario, plus I allow a level of narrative flexibility in terms of warframe ability interpretation. So long as you aren't pulling something massively out of the realm of the frame's wheelhouse or of a godlike magnitude (I.E. tearing a ship apart using Mag's ability to wield magnetic polarities, washing away an entire sea lab as Hydroid, etc.), its fine.
