DYSEQTA Posted May 18, 2018 Share Posted May 18, 2018 The best effect is one that doesn't register in the brain as an effect. That applies to more or less all forms of visual art. In my opinion DE understands that and has nailed it with the new particle system and it's default "High" setting. As an NVIDIA GPU owner I was able to use the previous PhysX based system. To me the PhysX particles were overkill everywhere they were used. Every time they went off it was obvious and screamed tech demo and felt very tacked-on. The new system on high is, in my opinion, pretty much a perfect balance and will only get better with time as they tweak effects and their artists become accustomed to the new tool at their disposal. failedtodiet Posted May 18, 2018 Share Posted May 18, 2018 New gpu particles system is actually great, you can now "push" Pox's cloud away with banshee sonic boom. Last time i checked, it didn't work with PhysX. But the particles have shorter lifespan and less bouncy than old PhysX particles. Overall it's a good change because now DE have full control over the effect, and maybe we can have fluid simulation in the future for all GPUs.
