Open Call for Warframe Theme Ideas!

Recommended Posts

The idea is a warframe that specializes in pre-combat mechanics. But no traps (that is for Vauban 😂).

What I mean is high mobility, high damage play style but with a limited range.

  • Passive - Don't Blink:

On teleportation lose all agro. (also works with Loki's Switch Teleport and Nova's Worm Hole)

When attacking a target from behind that is not aware of your presence, the target gets vulnerable to a finisher.

  • 1st Ability - Mark and Go:

Hold the ability key: Mark the terrain (able to use on walls if wall clinging)

Marks are undone after leaving the room (this could have a safe margin, like: after being outside the room for too long, or being too far from it, because being stuck in a close space can sometimes not be a fun thing)

Press the ability key: Teleport to the mark closer to the aim

  • 2nd Ability - Random light:

Makes all the Marks in the room Glow and attract enemy fire for a short period of time, charging up, and releasing it in a explosion IF the damage absorbed is enough, breaking the mark ONLY if it explodes.

This can result in a massive room damage ability or a wast of energy.

  • 3rd Ability - Roll the Dice:

Creates Marks in random places that disappear after a while. (affected by duration and strength: despawn time and number of marks respectively)

  • 4th Ability - Sharp Light:

All the marks in range get linked creating a slashing line of energy that deals damage to any enemy that passes by it.

(This can result is visual effect a bit like Khora Strangledome or Vauban's Augment Tesla Link )

Some other possible concepts would result in leaving power lines instead of marks, restricting the movement only across the power line, but making it more efficient at long distances and open spaces. Making the teleport into a "get in the car" ability 😅

Electrifying the power lines as a damage ability. (Could have some synergy with Volt or Weapon Electric Damage)

Thinking on what we have already and what would be unique, perhaps something based around Evolution and Adaptation. We have some abilities which change based on the enemy they face, or even the colour you paint your frame. A frame that changes constantly throughout the battle: gaining the strength to defeat their enemies, a body to withstand attacks, insight into their foe's weaknesses (Possibly shown on the HUD as effective elements or weak spots for finishers, helpful for new players and veterans with new content), agility to avoid their traps and manage your distance (Close in or back off), and the power to counter even the strongest of abilities thrown their way (Looking at you Nullifier Bubbles). These adaptations could be duration based, limited to one at a time, with the player choosing what they need to focus on at the time (Cycle them similar to Vauban's 2nd and Ivara's 1st abilities) or something entirely different such as absorbing enemies (Dead or maybe alive if weakened) and gaining stacking benefits based on how many have been absorbed). I think there are a number of ways such a frame could be handled and designed that would provide something for players of all skill levels to manage in any setting, without having to feel like they "brought the wrong frame" into a mission.

Hive Colony frame.

abilities to summon large hordes of cyber bugs(or just normal deadly wasps) and small down enemies nearby.

Ability 1: summon a small swarm of  bugs. They will find the closest enemy with the lowest health and kill them, when killed the corpse will become a host (like laying eggs on a fresh corpse) and then burst out relasing more and increase your swarm count

(These wasps will follow the player and attack any nearby enemy damaging the player or if ordered by the player to attack a specific enemy).

Ability 2: order your newly born bugs to be used as a sheild to absorb any incoming damage (this would show a counter for armour and for each hit your bugs will die off and the sheild will go down untill all your bugs are dead)

Ability 3: (inclined to change) allow your bees to sacrifice themselves and give the player and their allies health and energy give buffs (obviously you'll be killing off your swarm so use it wisely)

Ability 4: The warframe colony will screech loudly and all enemies will be stunned for a brief time, your swarm is given a massive  increase in damage and easily mow down all hostiles with ease

Passive: player will gradually grow their swarm for each kill they make by themselves.

If player is located in a lush place brimming with fauna then then their swarm count will increase for each kill

Note: there is a limit for how big the swarm can get and is shown as an indicator somewhere on the screen to show the players the total count of their built up swarm.

Savage beast-man Druid, Something that utilizes plants to entangles it's enemies, enhancing it's power and gains another level of protection by covering it'self in bark and come with it's own kubrow familiar as their passive that can combine with the druid when the druid uses their #4 to become a temporary werewolf Warframe.

My vote goes for a diamond warframe. Well, or whatever the space equivalent of diamond would be. I know we're not taking powers into consideration, but I think of a high defense frame, capable of throwing part of itself as a ranged weapon (think shards of diamond thrown like kunai), or make weapons from its body in general. Maybe an armor ability similar to inaros. Definately some kind of ability to capture light (as diamonds do) and maybe turn it into a blast or even a blinding stun.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else, but I didn't see it here.

A Gravity based frame. Now, we do have Mag, but magnetism and gravity are two different beasts entirely. Gravitas, as I'm calling it so far, would likely focus primarily on CC such as increasing gravity to slow enemies down, or decreasing it to lift them into the air similarly to Rhino's Stomp. I could probably go on for paragraphs about possible abilities, but I think it's just easier to say that Gravity could be manipulated in many fun and unique ways.

(EDIT: Well after posting this it seems someone else beat me to the punch)

A space/star themed warframe

Life bringing death and death giving life like a stars life cycle

High cost high energy abilities around powerful space phenomenon like solar wind, gravity and a supernova

Would love to see what art team do with this

How about a Spider themed Warframe whose abilitys funktion differently wether you are on the ground or wall latching/on a sipline.

Can shoot nets and creates siplines and traps. Does poison dmg and can feed of of enemys entangled in her webs to replenish energy.

I would like to see another infested design. We have only Nidus atm.

A warframe inspired in adaptative power like Megaman from Battle Network Series.

Example:

Instead of mods, this warframe equip battle chips! And, lets says you equip this warframe with a Rhino Stomp battle chip, so his 4th abillity will change into Rhino Stomp, but the Strenght, Range, Efficiency and Duration will be determined by the battle chip!

Also this warframe cant equip weapons since he have pre-equiped set that also uses chips to change the behavior of the weapon into any desired. For example equiping a Battacor Barrel battle chip will change the weapon shot into Battacor style.

Also can be chips that instead of copying a style, empowers the warframe abilities and weapons.

Even the trigger of battle chips can be done while in mission instead of when starting. Also adding secret battle chip patterns to trigger a special effect >:3

And the name? Of course the warframe name is Rocketman! Xd

Frame name: Ragnar

Theme: Viking

Passive: Berserk, each time Ragnar takes damage of any sort, a meter/bar will begin to be filled, when the meter/bar is full, it automatically triggers berserk, which gives Ragnar an damage resistance and damage buff for a short period of time.

1. Ability: Call of arrows, call forth a rain of arrows upon the enemy(s)

2. Ability: shield wall, Ragnar surrounds himself with round shields that increases defense and moves with Ragnar.

3. Ability: runic buff, Creates a random buff for Ragnar and other warframes (damage, shield etc.)

4. Ability: Spear of Odin, Ragnar calls for the mighty spear of Odin, can be used as melee and throwing.

A heavy gunner/support frame that can hold a position with relative ease, hes a wall of lead that you don't wanna be on the receiving end of, hes more of a team player then but can hold his own nonetheless, he'd have a greater niche in defense based missions then most other places but the option is still there

  • Health: 150 (450 at max)

  • Shields: 200 (600 at max)

  • Armor: 175

  • Energy: 200 (300 at max)

  • Sprint speed: 1.0

the stats I provided are just a basic idea for over all strength of this wall of a frame I'm proposing

I originally had this idea around the time of the Vauban rework as the idea was for him but enough people in the comments said that they'd rather it be a different frame so when i saw this I figured I'd shoot my shot

Since the anniversary is build about returning to the past tradition, I have an idea that suits the theme.

A historian/archivist themed warframe.

The idea is to build the lore of the game into the actual gameplay. The frame should posess knowledge of a number of major historical figures of the Warframe timeline, be it warriors, commansers or scientists, and be able to attune to their archetypes, gaining different sets of abilities, but each one for only a narrow array of situations, so that a player needs to make tactical decisions which and where to use. So the frame is a kind of evolution of Chroma and Equinox, but with more diversity and more risk in ability sets.

I think the most convenient for the player will be to give such a frame a set of abilities for four major types of playstyles that already exist in game:

First is high damage potential, but fragile, with no team support potential, possibly wielding an exalted weapon, and associated with a notable warrior from the Origin System's past, who dared opposing the immortal themselves and whose name is Ordan Karris.

Second is highly protected, being able to taunt enemies, withstand their damage, but having little to do in response and with little mobility. This can be associated with one of the most durable fighters during the Old War, who even when being conquered by the enemies, was never truly defeated - Hunhow.

Third is team oriented, having power to heal and replenish energy, being able to give health or damage buffs to the teammates and negate status effects, but having no offensive capabilities. This archetype should be associated with someone dedicated to saving lives of others, even under the threat of losing one of herself, Margulis.

Finally, fourth is control based, with wide areas having enemies caught in them slowed down and weakened, building devensive measures, like a large hemisphere shaped bunker. The drawback is lack of both damage potential and self protection. This one should be based after an infamous commander (or commanders for this matter), leading a nation of slaves from nothing to the greatest superpower of the System - the Twin Queens.

Lastly I want to mention that such a wast array of powers shouldn't be easy to access at any moment. First of all the frame should lack any kind of beneficial passive apart from being able to attune to the four archetypes. Second, attuning to each archetype should put the frame into a vulnerable state for a brief time, so that it is nearly impossible to do in the middle of combat.

A War themed warframe, a god of war, a brick of discipline. Wields a collection of weapons, blademancer.

Some more Keywords:

Ares.

Mars.

Spear.

Swords.

Strength.

Spartan.

Gladiator.

Battle Hardened.

While the Orokin certainly have their share of greek inspiration (such as ballas's robe/toga), we lack a spartan or greek themed warframe, and we lack a true battlemaster. Imagine them as a broad shouldered behemoth who can control his arsenal like a general commands troops. Summoning spears and blades, occasionally wielding one themself at times perhaps.

Name: Goliath

theme: team tank

passive: Goliath deals 50% more damage to stunned enemy’s (sleep stun blast proc and so on)

abilitie 1: “shield throw” Goliath throws his exalted shield, if it hits an enemy it stuns them (works off of duration) If it hits a team mate they gain shields, if shields are already at max they gain armor (working off of strength)

abilitie 2: “shock wave” Goliath takes 20% (works off of strength) less damage for a time (working off of duration) after the duration is up, release all stored up damage as an AOE blast

abilitie 3: “intimidating roar” Goliath sets out a massive roar intimidating all enemies to move there fire form team mates to him (taunt lasts off of duration)

abilitie 4: “exalted shield” Goliath brings out his exalted shield, when active and AOE ring is visible around him players in said ring will have all damage moved from them to Goliath, if no team mates are in the ring damage to Goliath is sent back to the enemy at 50%of origin damage  (working with strength)

Possible Abilities for a Paladin Warframe.

I am thinking of a bruiser type of warframe that can take hits and tank damage but also deal good damage with its abilities.

A taunt skill to draw attacks from nearby enemies.

An exalted sword and shield. It costs no energy to equip it. You can press a button to guard against attacks with the shield. Damage dealt to the shield is stored and is consumed (possibly along with energy) to power up attacks with the sword.

Maybe it can also have an ability that releases damage stored in the exalted weapon as an AOE but increases the rate at which damage is stored to promote using the ability instead of just stacking damage for the sword attacks.

Final ability could be a buff for allies or something else.

The Painting warframe. A frame that could cycling the color for specific status effects. similar as Irava arrow wheel.

when change color with 1 sec transform, color on certain part of Warframe's cosmetics will changed to match color that currents set. after set color, its will give permanent self-buff bonus from ability 3 until change color again (passive ability)

1. keep in red, will give you small damage bonus; for blue, An Armor buff; for Green a Life-steal; for Yellow a speed. (attack speed and moving speed)

Ability 1.  Color bucket.  Caster painting itself to transform.

Painting Color wheel. Red, Blue, Green and Yellow. - Fire / Cold / Toxic / Electric.  Press to cycle the color, hold to cast color.

1.  After cast the selected color with color wheel,  warframe will transform the state to selected color, change all ability's passive. similar as Equinox's transform but the change scale is small, only affected on cosmetics color, not cosmetics design.

2. after transform is completed, caster will splash color around in small 360* degree splash, give allies a specific 100% on-hit status proc buff, while instant proc enemies.

3. you can re-cast on same color for use ability effect, transform will not occur, just ability cast animation.

Ability 2.  Floor Painting

Spread painting over the area to create defense zone. anyone step on will receive status damage. (similar as Oberon's Hallowed Ground)

1. type of Status damage is based on color wheel that current set.

2. effects on allies and enemies while stand on the painted floor is same as Ability 1, effects only last as long as person keep stand on it, beside Status duration,

Ability 3. Target Painting.

its Point and Click ability, only affected 1 target. when cast, it gives buff to allies or vex to enemies. it can't be self-cast, because you already have received a bonus from passive ability.

1. Red, give allies a damage boost, but reduce enemies' damage or disarm.

2. Blue, give allies an armor buff, halved enemies's armor strength

3. Green, Heal allies, gives enemies a viral status.

4. Yellow, a speed boost, Slowed enemies.

Ability 4. Rainbow splash.

Caster will splash all color around itself for weaken all targets in range with long duration and buff allies with all ability 3 bonus for short duration  (similar as Nova's 4 - Molecular Prime)

1. 100% status proc bonus will not be apply. use ability 1 or 2 for that.

2. effect strength is scaled bit higher than ability 3.

2, no damage, all affected target is just heavily debuff. Weaken attack/disarm, lowered defense, health and move slower

3. All allied bonus will applied to caster as well, not stacking with bonus that already applied from passive ability for same duration as allied received.

Itzamná

The Warframe named after this ancient Mayan Deity has the ability to manipulate the energies of the Void to create distortions in the probability fields... creating “good luck” for his teammates and “bad luck for his enemies” Allowing Itzamna to unexpectedly change the battle dynamic in unusual and unpredictable ways that would defy the sentient combat algorithms.

Itzamná is another of the central gods of the Mayan pantheon, its importance is crucial because it speaks of the work, the sacrifice and the way of the True Man. (The expression which the Orokin would treasure as exemplifying ALL things they would have seen their empire to represent).

It is considered as a universal spirit of life that encourages chaos to create, is represented mostly in the culture of this civilization as an elder, but also in the form of different animals depending on the plane where it was found.

The use of the "Chaos" energy of "the Void" to accomplish the will of the Orokin... namely in ending the "Sentient" threat would have been looked upon with great admiration by the Seven and the council of the executors.
