Orb Vallis bounties instantly failing

Hello,

ran into a nasty bug that causes bounties to instantly fail. Bounty number four (lvl30-50). Occurred three times in a row. Phase number seems unrelated; always happened at the 'Kill Corpus Drones'-part, whether it was phase 2, 3 or 4. The fail pop-up is also bugged, displaying only black in the middle. Frame used: Mesa Prime, no companion, Itzal archwing.

Bump. Also happened multiple times with me with any Warframe since I started using Itzal. Don't know if it's related. The scoreboard showing the drones killed keeps working as if the bounty was still on, but the bounty has already failed after arriving at the location. 

 

EDIT: I just tested the bounty with the Elytron and it also failed as the same stage began.

This just happened to me in an Orb Vallis bounty.  I was host, running in Public mode, and 3 randoms joined during the progression of the first stage, which was 'protect the excavators'.  Our squad completed this stage successfully, but once the second stage of 'eliminate enemy units' started, we immediately got the "bounty failed" screen.  After that, the enemies-killed counter and the timer were still on the HUD and worked normally, but nothing happened once the required number of enemies were killed.  Our squad then returned to Fortuna.  Frustrating.

THIS! Exact quest step. Timer stayed, counter stayed, but the moment I got there, it said 'failed'

Just had this bug appear on a Plains Of Eidolon bounty, so it's not restricted to Orb Vallis.  I was in Public mode as a host with three other random players.  I believe this insta-failure was the final stage: the previous stage was a drone escort from the northeast corner of the map to the rock outcrop seen on the right side of the screenshot.  I had used Switch Teleport on the drone several times during that stage to speed up the progression.  After this insta-failure, the four of us then killed the 100 enemies required and even attained the bonus objective, but nothing happened afterwards.  We then extracted to Cetus.

I suspect that it has something to do with the defend targets. I got bug a few times and it always was after a drone defend. I suspect that the drone is not unregistered from the bounty at stage completion and when it's despawning, it trigger the fail, despite the stage is already completed.

The next stage semi-working is probably because it's timer based and the cleanup is triggered at the end of the timer or after reaching the objective. This is not expected to fail before the timer ends and therefore the bounty appears to continue, but it's already failed.

Just had this on the 3rd bounty of Orb Vallis - completed the first two stages ok, third was "kill moas" - mounted archwing, melee slide attacked to dismount archwing into grove site target area from up high, the target circle went red, the objective counter appears, but got "mission failed."
Objective counter did not clear after mission failure message, and continued to count kills, but no progress could be made.

Open session, but no other players.

Same just happened to me on lv 20-40 bounty mission of Orb Vallis. Flied to the final stage target circle, target circle turned red upon entering and "mission failed". 

The objective counter did not clear and counted kills. I thought it's a HUD bug so just kept doing mission. Interestingly, Eudico requested to retrieve some data during the fight - I was doing killing and did not fully notice her talk. Since no HUD update afterward so I guess the voice line somehow activated - another bug. 

Upon completion of my bounty, no reward. 

Solo player, solo mode on.

It's happening again...this time it was on consecutive bounties! 😠 I didn't screenshot the first one but here's the second...

  1. Three of us in the squad are clanmates.  The first time we ran bounty 5, it was it was selected from Eudico while inside Fortuna.  We completed the bounty successfully with a fourth random player (in Public mode), and we returned to Fortuna after completion.
  2. The second time we ran bounty 5, it was selected from Eudico while inside Fortuna.  A random player joined again, and the bounty instantly failed on entering the area for stage 2.  We returned to Fortuna.
  3. The third time we ran bounty 5, it was again selected from Eudico inside Fortuna.  Once again, a random player joined. The first stage was Protect The Excavators in an area south of Fortuna, and the second stage was "Seek And Destroy Corpus Units" in the Central Maintenance area.  Upon entering the area, the bounty immediately failed: as you can see, the Time Limit is showing 07:57, meaning only 3 seconds have passed.

Ball's in your court, DE: this glitch has been around for at least 10 months, and it's a mission-critical glitch.  Support ID #2683974 has my EE.log for the mission.

It happened again just now with 3 random players.

  1. As with yesterday, I had previously ran an Orb Vallis bounty selected from inside Fortuna, but this time it was with 3 random players.  I was a client in that squad, but I actually left the squad midway through the bounty because it had an AFK/Leech player in it.  Upon completion, I returned to Fortuna. 
  2. I selected the same bounty from within Fortuna, again in Public mode.  This time I was host, and 3 other players joined me, including the host from the previous squad.
  3. Stage 1 was Capture The Cases in the area a short distance south of Fortuna.  We completed it successfully.
  4. Like yesterday, the insta-failure occurred during stage 2 of the bounty.  Again, it was a Seek And Destroy stage, and again it was in the Central Maintenance area.  The failure occurred instantly upon entering the 'red circle' of the combat area: I entered the area via archwing, but a client (crazyman10108) entered the area via archwing first.  This time I pressed F6, and I then took the above screenshot while returning to Fortuna.

There seems to be a pattern here with regards to the type of stage in which the failure occurs: it's always been an Exterminate.  I have added the EE.log to Support ID #2683974.

Well, here we go again...

  1. I was host.  Squadmates 2 & 3 are clanmates.  I had run a few missions with one of them first.  The second one joined while we were still in our Orbiters, and then we entered Fortuna together.  One of them selected the bounty, and we entered Orb Vallis together.  I was running in Public mode, so squadmate 4 is a random player who joined during the first stage.
  2. Stage 1 was Eliminate Enemy Drones in the area a short distance south of Fortuna.  Stage 2 was Protect the Excavators immediately east of there.  Both ran as normal.
  3. The glitch occurred on stage 3.  Again, the combat area was Central Maintenance.  Again, it was a Seek And Destroy stage.  I was the first to enter the combat area, and I entered via archwing.  As with the other times, the "bounty failed" message triggered immediately upon entering the combat area.  I pressed F6 and F12 (screenshot) right away, and we returned to Fortuna.

The glitch/bug occurred in the second stage.  Again, the combat area was the Central Maintenance area.  Again, it was a "Seek and destroy" stage.  Again, the bounty failed immediately upon entering the combat area.  I was not the first person to enter the combat area.  I pressed F6 and took this screenshot, then returned to Fortuna.

After a 2-week hiatus, it's back:

  1. I selected the bounty from within Fortuna.  I was not in a squad while in Fortuna, but I was in Public mode, so I joined timbal2's squad while in the elevator transitioning to Orb Vallis.
  2. This glitch was either the third or fourth stage of the bounty.  Again, the combat area was the Central Maintenance area.  Again, it was a "Seek and destroy" stage.  Again, the bounty failed immediately upon entering the combat area.  I was not the first person to enter the combat area.  I pressed F6 and took this screenshot, then returned to Fortuna.

After the last glitch on November 27 I had verified and optimized my game cache, and the lull in experiencing this glitch had given me hope that this action had fixed the problem, but now I'm not sure.  EE.log has been added to support ID #2683974...again...

I just encountered this one twice as solo host in a Narmer bounty. Both times it was the final bounty in the series, Exterminate objective. I encountered in two different objective areas. Both times I was flying in an Archwing as Wukong. I think both times may have been immediately following a Spy bounty (with bonus).

After I got the mission failure, progress for the bounty continued to show and update. The first time I encountered the bug, when I got the 25 kills, the objective info just disappeared. (No reward splash, and no reward from that part of the bounty received upon extraction.) The second time it stopped counting my kill progress at 16 but the timer kept ticking down.

I think I've come to a revelation about this bug because it occurs to me too. Since during the day the Narmer bounties are on Cetus and at night they are on Fortuna, when Cetus switches from day/night, the bounty list refreshes itself across both to reflect one bounty leaving the pool from one open world and one bounty entering the pool in the other open world. This causes all bounties to get pulled, failing it if you are in the mission during one of these Cetus day/night cycles, whether or not you are on Cetus.

I don't think that is the cause of this bug, for a few reasons.

First, people had reported this bug before Narmer bounties were introduced (unless you're making the argument that any bounty switchover could cause the bug). Second, the fact that both times I encountered this bug, it happened when entering the Exterminate objective area makes me think it is something either specific to that type of bounty, or entering bounty areas in general; it would be a big coincidence if not. And third, when I encountered this bug today it was not at a bounty switchover time. I ran "Crush the Cult," got the bug, ran another Crush the Cult with no incident, and then with the next Crush the Cult I ran after that, I got the bug.

Can confirm that this is happening on some (not all) Vallis exterminate bounty stages. Not seeing any commonality between them. Doing the Narmer bounty, it spawned 3 drop areas as soon as it started, and also instafailed. Killing the 15 those 3 spawned advanced the counter, but the enemies spawned after did not.

Slotting the datamass into the outpost terminal to hijack it instantly failed the bonus, as it set the timer from 7 to 2.5 minutes.
