PVP suggestions

How about if instead of the current pvp map and systems, we had a standard shooter game with different modes: deathmatch, bomb defusal, hostage rescue and territory control. At the begining of each round, players would choose a warframe and weapons from the ones they own. I know it would require new maps to be created but I think it can't be worst than what we have now.

You can add/change which ever game modes you like and it wont make a difference for PVP in Warframe, the extreme majority of players are here for the PVE experience and are often pushed away from PVP because of the struggle DE has to balance out frames/weapons for PVP.

These two wouldnt work in the game, there are too many ways to accidentally get the hostages killed or to prevent players from disarming the bomb that it would make playing these modes in the defending side impossible.

Also if you want those game modes, go play Counter Striker.

@Radu955

That already existed in the past : it was called Solar Rail Conflict in the Dark Sectors.

And the reasons why it was trashed are :

  • deathmatch : Excalibur Prime WINS !!! end of IT. Conclaves rules was created to avoid this
  • bomb defusal : yeah good idea but already perfected and still rubbished
  • hostage rescue : PENTAstick a target and you can kill him at the other side of the map. NO COUNTER POSSIBLE !!!
  • Territory control : The Biggest Alliances (mine too) just make a agreement to block anyone to take their territory.

SO, you go some good ideas but it was already implemented in 2014, perfected during few years and after it being dismantle, the experience for it used for Conclave

TOPIC CLOSED AGAIN... sowy

Yes it could be, with unmoded warframes and without being able to replenish energy.

No in this game.

This is a p2p game and there is no dedicated server just for pvp. When you enter a pvp match the host is another player.

I don't know if you understand it or not but DE already spends resources trying to make pvp functional and didn't work and that when the game had tens of thousands of players playing pvp (game year 2 or so) The game is made in a way that is not friendly to pvp and that is why people stopped playing pvp 2 years after it was first released and the reason why ppl don't play pvp right now. With so many hackers and people who take advantage of glitches on the map (They do it in pvp and in pve too), the pvp in this game does not work, which is why they have left it aside for more than 5 years. You can think what you want friend but that won't happen.

This reads like "How about instead of the current game, we had a different game."

Lots of the time invested in designing new PVE content would be spent on making PVP work properly instead, which means that both will take longer to complete.

While it would be interesting to see a developer make something that was PVP focused with a Warframe aesthetic, Warframe is designed and balanced for PVE. It would be heaps of work to re-balance the weapons, abilities, and the basic gameplay which is all designed around fighting computer controlled enemies with your team of human controlled friends. It's just not made for people fighting against other people.

So many of the mechanics like damage resistance, armour, shield and health regen, evasion, blocking, rivens, etc fit around powering up to beat the different enemy factions and boost the types of equipment you might use against them. There are so many frames and weapons based around big aoe attacks, specific damage types, enemy mind control, damage over time, and holding or stunning enemies in place. Some of the Warframe abilities are just total invisibility or immunity to all damage which is really boring to fight. All of these mechanics are incredibly frustrating to deal with when you are fighting against a person, to the point that people avoid certain boss fights because it's just so tedious to go through those invincibility phases.

I'm a fan of PvP in WF simply because it would solve DE's content drought problem. In the dead of night when I'm ready to die and I fire up WF I wish there was a mode to jump into and have a good time, but there's not, so I either blur myself into the tedium of a long survival or go play a game that understands activities.

Despite all the nay-sayers, I think it can be done in WF to a high level, BUT I do very much doubt that DE as a company has the resolve to maintain a PvP system. They do require constant attention, balancing, and reward refreshes to stay alive. Based on all the content islands and conclave itself, even a spectacular PvP system would probably be abandoned and decay, sadly.

And it would still be too unbalanced to work.

And this sounds a lot like:
-Step 1: Strip the warframes out of warframe
-Step 2: Make it PvP
-Step 3: ????????????
-Step 4: Profit?

The playerbase is vehemently anti-PvP.  They don't want PvP.  They don't want to be "forced" to do PvP for certain rewards.  They don't want DE to delay PvE content just to work on PvP content.

DE has tried PvP events in the past and been scared off of them by the reactions of the playerbase.
They had an event where you had basically a snowball fight where frames were purely cosmetic as they all had the same stats.
The reward was a ship decoration, and mind you this was before you could see anyone elses orbiter and you couldn't donate to your dojo yet, so you're the only one that would see that you had the decoration.

The playerbase threw a fit and complained loudly.  Then they just sat in PvP for the progress reward of being in a match but didn't actually play, just enough to avoid AFK detection.  They weren't having fun because they felt forced into PvP for a reward, and the people who wanted to play PvP weren't having fun because the lobbies were full of people who weren't playing and were there just to get the reward.

Even when DE changed the rules so you had to have a certain minimum score to get progress the playerbase just turned things into boosting matches where if you weren't playing along you got flamed and harassed quite badly.

And all because the vast vast majority of the playerbase went "We don't want to PvP, why are we forced to PvP for this reward?!?"

The playerbase has shown time and time again that they don't want PvP.
From the general failure that was solar rail conflicts (and all of the drama and accusations of various forms of cheesing that some of the larger clans would use), to the more specialized PvP events with minor cosmetic rewards that you couldn't even bring into missions with you, the playerbase has generally been united over not wanting PvP in warframe.

It's a PvE game and should stay that way.

Plus this just sounds like you want PvP that is 100% non warframe related in any way, shape, or form.....so why not play one of the dozens upon dozens upon dozens of PvP shooters out there that do what you want, and will be doing it much, much, much better than DE could do it?

That's a very important distinction.
