You couldnt make Warframe more horryfing with a level. What you would need to do is create a real creepy pasta within warframe. An unspoken quest line that you come across with RNG. With unusual effects to the game, and an enemy you can hide from as your hinted at its entering, and you can watch it move past to another room where if the visual effect starts again it means it left.

 

It would have to put Stalker to shame though...

I believe General Ruk mentioned wanting to crush tenno flesh

also Vor is delusional so you can't take anything he says seriously

Ruk isn't exactly a leading Tenno doctor, nor Biology Professor...

I'm not sure if the lotus is a tenno but you can see some of her skin  on her chin, so you could say that the tenno may have some flesh and aren't entirely made up of energy

I think you can definitely make a horror level in the game.

 

FPS might not be doable but old school TPS along the lines of Resident Evil or Silent Hill would still definitely be possible.

 

Things that would need to be modified to make the game scarier off the top of my head:

Access to abilities, energy/health orbs, and energy accrual would need to be removed.

 

Sound and the reactive combat music would need to be slightly tweaked a bit more... They did a good job on the infested levels but would need to crank the tension up a bit more.

 

Minmap would need to be disabled for this mission altogether along with any minmap enhancing mods.

 

Lighting would need a tweak or two for tensions sake.

 

Coptering and sprinting would need to be disabled/ drastically reduced or made to be a detriment... Likewise heavy amounts of gunfire.

 

Tileset would need to be far larger... Similar to the ship invasion tilesets which force a tileset style change.

 

Mobs should be especially resistant to damage but able to inflict large amounts of it to frames but with longer animation periods.

 

Attempts to parkour should typically cause the frame to be caught and damaged/killed by enemies.

 

Something in frame animation should cause frame to stagger or reel from damage taken. ie. Incapacity periods.

 

Adding those things in conjunction with a mission goal that requires the completion of sub-goals to achieve along with randomly generated locations for each of those forcing exploration while discouraging rushing, rampant abilities use, and projectile weapons use would probably meet the desired end result of a nerve wracking play session.

 

Making sure to make it optional would keep other from complaining about its' addition.

I think a horror map should be possible they could let us play as an injured tenno with a damaged frame escaping an infested ship

That would be kinda interesting, but would get a little old kinda quick. Kinda like with the escape sequence caused by the Harvester.

There are some kind of scary maps, but I'm guess it doesn't qualify as horror since virtually everything in the universe can be rationalized by "It's more afraid of you then you are of it"..... which makes sense because you have destructive potentiality of an apocalypse (which is what's so fun of course!).

If they made some kind of Stalker tileset where he abducts you if you die by his hand and have another shot at defeating him, all the while he is taunting you and messing with your mind via hallucinations... that could get quite scary.

This is practically going to be something like J3 when DE gets to reworking him.

A Horror survival like mission would be cool but it would need to be a unique and separate thing. Not something that is the direct gameplay path

 

Should be optional. Should take your weapons and maybe powers away (mainly stealth) and force you to sneak around an infested hive. You cant brink weapons or use abilities due to the void energy alerting them to your presence.
