To my knowledge, tildes are usually used as a symbol for approximation (i.e. ~23), though I've no idea if that's the official use of the tilde in the English language. Yeah, I like Japan for reasons apart from just anime etc... but I'm clearly not a 'weeaboo', even I knew that. On this one M&B Warband server I play(ed) on the some of the admins on there added ~desu to the end of every sentence they wrote...
