My Suggestion For A Much Needed Change To The Mastery System.

With the upcoming changes to weapon mastery rank requirements I am sure we have all thought about how one dimensional and boring the current mastery rank system is.

 

Here is my suggestion for a series of changes to diversify and spice up the system with minimal resources invested by DE (some small UI changes and coding).

 

Here goes............

 

The number of mastery ranks should be increased to 50.

 

Each rank should have its standard version followed by bronze, silver, gold and prisma versions keeping the same ranks that we have now.

 

e.g.

Novice

Bronze Novice

Silver Novice

Gold Novice

Prisma Novice

 

Master ranks (45-50) should be Master, Lower Master, MIddle Master, Upper Master, Grand Master.

 

Mastery should only be given for completing challenges (Achievements), each one giving a different amount of mastery points dependant on its tier (5 tiers) they should be grouped as Bronze, Silver, Gold, Rubedo ,Prisma.

 

Bronze should give 3-600 mastery, around the same as 1 level of a weapon/frame and be for trivial challenges, like building your first weapon or customising your first warframe.

 

Silver should give 1-3000 mastery, around the same as 1 reasonable high level star chart mission could net you with a couple of unranked weapons and be for lower level challenges, like levelling 3 weapons of a type to 30 or getting 1000 kills with a certain weapon.

 

Gold should give 3-6000 mastery, the same as leveling 1 warframe/weapon to 30 and be for challenges that start to involve skill as well as a small time investment, like killing 100 or a certain enemy or getting 100 head shots with a certain weapon.

 

Rubedo should give 6-10,000 mastery, the same around 3 weapons or 2 frames to 30 and be for challenges that involve a good amount of skill and take more than one day to complete, like

 

Prisma should give 30-60,000 mastery, the same around 10 weapons or 10 frames to 30 and be for challenges that involve a huge amount of skill and time investment to complete, like getting 100,000 kills with a weapon on enemies level 80+ or completing a raid 100 times on nightmare.

 

These challenges/Achievements should be for example getting to 30 with a weapon/frame, killing x number of enemies with a weapon, using 8 forma on a weapon/warframe etc, giving points equal to the effort involved in the task.

 

Each challenge above a certain level should also award a Sigil (using the same art as the challenge icon, reusing some).

 

Each mastery rank should end in a test as it does now (although each rank eg, novice should have 1 test that gets harder over the 5 grades, silver, gold etc).

 

Each master rank should give you 1 from the following (chosen by the player) until the list is exhausted and then it resets.

 

1 - 2 Weapon slots

2 - Warframe Slot

3 - Orokin Catalyst

4 - Orokin Reactor

5 - Loadout Slot

6 - 2 Sentinel Slots

7 - Extraction Drone Slot (up to a maximum of 7(including founders/prime access)

 

These rewards will be cycled 7 times (7X7=49).

My apologies, this is part of a larger re-design document, it made crafting multiple foundry items possible, i must have missed it when i edited it.

I think you're getting a little too ambitious a little too early lol. so far we don't know what the orbiter expansion will entail. It very well could let us craft more than 1 of an item in the foundry

And what would happen to ppl that are already rank 20? Do they lose it? Do they need to complete all the challenges? Will they get the rewards, and if so, how would these rewards be distributed?  Is this system supposed to be linear, or are the mastery points increase as the progression goes up? What about people that have paid plat for their weapon/warframe slots, do they get it back or not?

 

This doesn't seem like a "minimal resources invested by DE".

It's fine as it is and the game has other systems that need a rework. I don't think that DE should strain their resources on this.

If they are going to make it an integral part od progression, they SHOULD invest in this as this will heavily affect the core game experience.

I've never heard of using achievements to determine progression, definitely a viable option DE could go for.

Of course, we as players wouldn't feel obligated to try new weapons/frames anymore with that system unless DE made a whole new set of achievements that included that aspect of the game.

You wouldnt lose any progression as there would be challenges that would give you 3000 mastery for getting weapons to 30 and 6000 for getting warframes/companions to 30, rewards would be retroactive so you would for example get 15 picks if you were MR15.

 

The system would be an extension of the current system "an additional 20 ranks" if you will, with the same mastery requirement per level curve.

This is because there would be a lot more mastery points that are attainable.

 

People getting refunds for slots because they get a free one is, in my opinion just you being pretentious and trying to reinforce your argument because you feel it inst a very strong one.

 

The rest of your points are valid, although what is meant by minimal investment is the fact that most of the UI asset work is done and it would require little to no work from most of the other major departments in DE.

I've never heard of using achievements to determine progression, definitely a viable option DE could go for.

Of course, we as players wouldn't feel obligated to try new weapons/frames anymore with that system unless DE made a whole new set of achievements that included that aspect of the game.

It would just give other options, it means that players who invest a lot of time and skill into a particular loadout or play style dont have to worry about being penalised because they are not making there way through every weapon and frame in the game.

Are you serious? You think people won't raise a storm over this? Something that a lot of players payed plat for being given for free is a very stupid idea, and usually comes from people that want stuff that they can't get (just look at Ex Prime, for example).

1] actually there are 30 additional MR level hidden behind the wall in simaris HQ

2] conflicted with number 3, as you said each rank must have standard version followed by bronze,silver, etc

3] conflicted with number 2, you were trying to make it more special than the rest 44 MR?

4] these challenges is a cakewalk with the help of friends on hi-level MR, SO NO....

5] We have this...its called mastery sigil, it changes according to your MR

6] We already have this too, 2 difficulty level...unless you didnt pay attention to MR tests....

7] NO...i want something more exclusive than a mere catalyst,reactor, drone slot?

We currently get a loadout slot every 2 MR, 5 extractor drone slots for MR above 10, not including additional slots for being a founder+PA

So we get to choose only one of these each MR? I Consider this as a nerf on Mastery Rank system

If it was something that could only be obtained for real life money or it was something you could only get/use one of then i would agree whole heartedly with you, as its something that can be used no matter how many you have and can easily be gotten with at most a few hours work in game for free i dont see the problem.

The whole reason for the rewards were something tangible that also inst "required" for the "meta".

 

Please give me your ideas for mastery rewards if you think these are no good.

Usually i would ignore a statement like this as it gives nothing to the conversation but it appears you have some of your information wrong so im just going to correct you so you dont look a tit in future.

 

1. There are currently 30 active mastery ranks in the game (21 of these are attainable(with some exclusive/event gear)).

2 and 3 you are just being pedantic and puerile.

4.Iv given a few examples of some, they can and should be hard as nails and take forever at the top end eg 500k kills with a certain weapon or do a nightmare raid without taking any damage etc.

5. I was talking about a sigil that can be displayed when you achieve a certain challenge, nothing to do with mastery.

6. Some tests have the same objectives or are similar but none are the same (and i should know iv done 21 of them).

7. Firstly if you want something more prehaps spend more time writing about that and less time trying to pull other peoples posts apart.

Also you can have 3 extractors deployed (at MR 10+) without founders and prime access and 1 extra for each for a maximum of 5.

This is a good idea. Anyone that dislikes it and doesn't want at least THIS part of your idea implemented...I don't even know what to say to them or why they wouldn't at least want this reward system for gaining MR.

1. OP was referring to the fact that there is a hidden section in the room with Cephalon Simaris in any relay. Was not referring to the supposed limit that DE set with the achievements currently attainable in-game or attainable ranks based on gear available to us.

5. I don't know about you, but I do not want that many sigils taking up room in my inventory.

I like how OP wants feedback but then gets upset when people disagree with his ideas.

There is a huge difference between constructive feedback (I like/dislike this for reason A,B,C etc have you thought about A,B,C etc) and bad feedback aka. plain old bashing because you don't like something (I hate this because I do).
