Do you Think Giving us the Full Mod Points up front instead of per rank, would be a bad thing?

At present, every time you get a new weapon it starts at 0 mod points. Each rank gets you 1 (no potato) or 2 mod points (with potato) per rank to a maximum of 30 or 60.

What if... DE just gave us the full mod points upfront?

You buy/craft a fresh rifle, 30 points (60 if you tater it).

This would allow people to use new weapons/frames without being forced to do low (or relatively low) level content (or even leech).

What if a  forma is used? Then you get the polarity change, rank resets, but you still have full mod points.

What will urge players to continue ranking up items to rank 30 if they have the max mod points already? Id have to say MR and Focus.

Would it really be bad?

There wouldn't be a need for people to rank up the weapon or even bother with it if it already has full mod capacity.

I can get what your point is, but that would just make the rank of weapons have no meaning. You'd be better off giving them at rank 30 whilst you're at it

what do you mean by "progression in this game is bad enough as it is"?

I mean the progression in this game is already pretty bad?

A game where you can skip leveling (by letting your weapon level passively) skips progression, skipped progression = bad progression.

And what then after you have leveled your stuff up? Endgame is lacking and only has a few rewards that can't be obtained through natural play. The special rewards it does have can be traded for, meaning you never even have to progress into endgame for these rewards.

Face it, progression in this game is borked, your suggestion makes it worse.

no thanks, it renders the rank system completely useless. also, MR levels (which don't matter) are gained as you level up a weapon, how would you gain MR from your suggestion? just give it to people? that's a bad idea.

granted, you can power level anything on Draco, but it still requires you to actually play the game in order to achieve something. if we give everyone Potato'd level 30 weapons, what's the point, you know?

They'd need to change the whole idea if they even remotely went this way... though if they replaced the mod slots with progressing damage levels... that could be a thing imo...

Ooh... howz aboutz a wepen dat changes/ evolves as u levl it? (cancer text)... a weapon that visually alters itself as its ranks change.

Contradicting my statement above... the idea of an inanimate object gaining experience and becoming "stronger" makes no sense whatsoever... the opposite will happen... degeneration and degredation.

So... nope. Bad idea all round.

As an alternative... if you wanna level something by using it... Take a MP Nova with strength build on Draco... even a Mk 1 braton can deal damage with that.

So why do you think people go to Draco so much? Why not use weapons in the usual missions they play?

cuz ppl get told to do that and ppl believe that this is the only way to lvl stuff in this game

the entire community is rushing towards draco and is pushing new ppl in there

there are sooo mayn missions where u can lvl rly quick and way easyer than on draco and some can be done solo aswell even with low/unranked weapons and u dont need to leech

there will always be people who want the shortest route, but it's foolish to believe that 100% of the community are like that. there are people who outright refuse to go to Draco, even though it means levelling takes a little longer. some people want to really savour and enjoy their progress. it just depends on how quickly you want to progress, bearing in mind the 1st law of any Grind-based game:

The faster you power through content, the less you have to do later on, and the game starts to feel boring as a result.

I like the thought process behind it. It has sparks.

The question remains, how do can the mechanics change to promote usage vs leeching?

depends on how I'm feeling. if I feel like doing a longer grind, I'll just tour the Dark Sectors or do Void missions, which have the added bonus of getting me both Progress and Ducats, (or if I'm lucky, something I can sell for plat. but there have been times where I simply can't be bothered, usually after a long, difficult Sortie, and go to Draco. I've been on both sides of the fence, and progress can be really fun, especially on a weapon that you really enjoy. giving us a maxed out weapon straight away takes some of that enjoyment away IMO, but that's just me.

There is no alternative, aside from tying it to "Milestones"... which would cause people to rush the objectives/ milestones.

Example:

R1 - Kill 10 enemies

R2 - Get 5 headshots

R3 - Assist with 10 kills without scoring the finishing blow...

Lame? Yes...

Will it promote multiple map instances/ different nodes? Yes... IF tied with certain objectives as killing faction/ certain boss/ specialised enemy/ complete mission type.

This is but a possible bandaid.... covered in blades...

It's a start, different ones per weapon to maybe teach the basics of each weapon. Rank ups as rewards (not exp just ranks for the weapon you used). Make it as effective as leeching somewhere. Either skill your way up or grind it. sounds ok.

I just don't like the way the game forces lower level content or leeching on the players because of the rank-mod points mechanic.
