What the void actually is (speculation)

A theory is the void tileset isn't directly in the void, but inside an Orokin spacecraft which has shielding that holds a bubble of real space inside it, where the tileset is, and the void is outside it.

Ok... the orokin tower is in the void and we play the tileset in the orokin tower which is in the void.

similar case (earth tileset in earth planet which is in origin system) = (void tileset in orokin tower which is in the void)

If you say the void tileset is not in the void, then it is also like saying that earth tileset is not in the origin system but in a planet that holds a bubble of real space inside it.

It's actually more like observing that a mission which takes place on a Corpus space station is technically happening in 'space' but is going on inside a pressurised habitat with artificial gravity.

When you look at various lore snippets, it's quite clear that vessels which enter the Void need specialised shielding to protect them from raw surges of Void energy. Orokin Towers are shielded against the worst of the Void.

I 've read an old short comic called 'Who s dreaming now' in wich religious people of another planet are first showed venerating a wise man sitting on a giant tiger (i mean gigantic, the size of a whale). The tiger is sleeping for centuries.

An asteroid appears, and suddenly the tiger awakes : the old wise man disappears and everyone is horrified, because they realize the old man was just a dream of the tiger. Someone becomes mad and yell 'And us ? Who is dreaming of us ? '

I don't know why everytime i think about the Void i have this memory. In TWW it s called the "thing/dimension who is always dreaming" by Teshin, or something like that. Second Dream was also on this dream theme, with what Margulis had done.

I'd love to see a strong bond between the Void and us, like we are part of him or his dreams. Something a bit ankward.

I mean, you're not wrong.

I'd be careful with this one. You have traditional Lovecraft, then you have Lovecraftian fiction post-August Derlerth (who was not held universally in high regard).

The Void is possibly another dimension (I know enough about dimensional theory for this to be bothersome), but it's a game and it has some stuff kinda right so it's another dimension for game purposes. There seems to be something in there. This fits in with what Clark Ashton Smith wrote (and painted...) and is mostly in step with Lovecraft himself. Derlerth brings outside conflict into things and complicates it for reasons best left to him. It's not very relevant here (yet).

So.

I dunno. We know the Void apparently isn't void, and some sort of outsider(s) resides there. Did the Orokin know about this? It seems likely they knew something (enough to be afraid of it), but we don't have anything concrete in that vein to work with yet. They did have some ability to manipulate it. So we have a few more answers and a lot more questions.
