R34LM
Seems to do well when you use the glaivesplosion when invisible.
X3Evanescence
I think more elaboration is necessary. Outright calling a weapon bad and needing a buff without any numbers or reasons to back it up can just be dismissed as groundless. I feel that the Glaive Prime is pretty fun and effective with the Astral Twilight Stance. You can make it explode by channeling while in mid-flight which gives decent AoE and damage. It copters well too.
YourMoms
'Tis your skills and knowledge that are bad, not the weapon stats.
counterflux
The normal attacks are kinda weak. But the explosions and slide attacks are quite good for a melee weapon. It's one of my favourite melee weapons. Edited May 27, 2015 by counterflux

Kthal
With the Glaive type weapons, the listed damage is for non-thrown melee attacks. The thrown stats are not displayed anywhere. The Glaive Prime actually has very good stats when thrown.
Mizucario
I actually own the Glaive prime, and I dont see any problems with it. :v I even got myself killed with it blowing up in my face :v

LazerusKI
I wouldnt call it "weak".It seems to be weaker than it was back then when we had charge damage mods, but it can still be pretty strong.I would call it "annoying suicide weapon". How many times has this stupid piece of a weapon killed me, because it randomly exploded on impact at melee range?!

I was Only talking about the Status Chance and base damage when swinging it not when Thrown or while sliding and in that regard compared to other Melee weapons it doesn't hold up long in Defence missions or When the situations don't allow you time to throw it. Mizucario
XD haha I threw my glaive with a Full toxic build with spoiled strike, crit chance, crit damage and Pressure point on it. Z123FFSS89
The Glaive prime is fine. I too thought it was weak but after learning how to mod it's become my main melee weapon. I've gotten mine to 4.1k body hits and 20k-48k crits on a good day. Aim for the head.

TwevOWNED
The fundamental problem with throwing melee weapons is that they need the punch through mod and -bounces mods to be effective. The reason being is punch through adds an explosion on the last bounce, and with a maxed -bounce, it explodes on the first surface it connects with. Sixty5
Using the Glaive Prime as a typical melee weapon is a mistake. It isn't what it is built for. What the Glaive does well is damage at range and mobility. This makes it an excellent choice for squishier builds. The best way by far to use the Glaive is to equip Power Throw and Quick Return. Power throw gives you punch through, meaning that you can kill a line of enemies by decapitating one after another. Secondly Power Throw will cause the Glaive to proc its channel explosion on its last bounce, regardless of you channeling or even equipping it. Combinine with quick return and you have what amounts to a missile launcher on your wrist. Sure you have to drop two dps mods to slot in Quick Return and Power Throw, but the boosted damage from explosions more than make up for it. Additionally since you don't use the Glaive as a melee weapon you can simply drop lifestrike for a bit more space. It is my most used melee weapon by a long shot, and is my go-to item if I am not running a melee build. Sure it sucks as a melee weapon, but the thing is, it doesn't have to be a melee weapon. 4G3NT_0R4NG3
I'll agree with OP, but more elaboration is definitely needed. If you have any kind of gun, then why would you throw the Glaive? I get about 400 damage hits on level 30 corrupted lancers. Since I use Power Throw and Quick Return, I can hit an enemy up to 3 times, one on the initial impact, one on the explosion, and one on the return. That's about 1200 damage total. The Latron Wraith, my favorite primary, deals several thousand damage criticals on almost every shot to the same level 30 corrupted lancer. The Latron Wraith is an upper-mid tier weapon, not even close to the highest tier primaries. See the imbalance? But what about the dumbsplosions from Power Throw that shouldn't even be in the game, or healing from a safe distance with Life Strike? It's a bad thing if you have to use a specific mod(s) to make a weapon worthwhile. Shouldn't melee be more than just a healing tool? Hopefully the Cerata won't be so utterly worthless one it's released.

I can't speak for your build, but mine does just fine. And with a little love from Banshee and Sonar, it's a great choice for raids too
TheBrsrkr
Everyone talks about these 4k hits that I've never seen with my Glaive Prime, and I run a pure damage build with Quick Return and Power Throw. I suppose it might be because I don't have Spoiled Strike, but since when do I need a corrupted mod to make something usable???
Leuca
I honestly hate the quick return/power throw build. The Glaive has great combo/multihit potential as a main melee weapon, even if it isn't the hardest-hitting melee in the game. Both of its stances offer a degree of crowd control, and if you like to play pure melee like I do on occasion, the QR/PT build becomes even less relevant, because being able to precisely control the explosion makes the weapon that much better given that the Glaive still has some innate punch through without Power Throw.
