Already died three times to the first two sentients.

I have a max soma p, a maxed euphona p, and maxed venka p,

with my banshee prime, also maxed.

They killed two of my ospreys, two seekers, and a charger.

Killed one. Can't find the 2nd one, maybe my dudes killed it?

  • 4:03am Killed another, was super cautious, because on last life,
  • and it still almost killed me.
  • Euphona P is great.
  •
  • 4:06am, okay, found the music thing, there don't seem to be any enemies.
  • Checked the nearby roms, found no enemies.
  • Here's hoping enemies don't spawn while i'm doing this, or right in the room after.
  •
  • 4:08am Can't activate it... There is no prompt to press X, and pressing X doesn't nothing.
  •
  • 4:10am found another sentient in the direction I came from.
  •
  • 4:11am Killed it, two more sentients spawned right on me.
  •
  • 4:13am, killed them both, only 4 Euphona bullets left.
  •
  • 4:14am found 20 pistol ammo, now at 24 bullets.
  •
  • 4:15am, okay, there was a third in that same room I didn't see.
  • Killed it.
  •
  • 4:17am, got back to the music machine, the press X prompt is there now.
  •
  • 4:18am, beat music game.
  •
  • 4:19am another sentient!
  •
  • OH GOD THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!

I have to agree, I was taken by surprise with the sheer load of Sentient enemies a player mandatorily solo had to go up against. Consider the fact that on Lua the spawn count is throttled down based on squad population, while in the quest you're being beset by up to 4 at a time, as if in a squad of multiple players (and not counting the endless "get out of there" flood of them).

It really highlighted some of the more unreasonable aspects of Sentients unless you go in prepared to fight them specifically, and en masse. That passive pulse damage ability is especially cheap, since it just flatly prevents a player being in close unless they're on a tanky frame by offering no other counterplay than "don't be in range or don't be in line of sight", and hasn't really got a good tell for when it's deactivating when considering the fact you're probably trying to avoid line of sight anyway and can't see the visual go out.

Two very different experiences between me and my buddy doing the quest alongside me.

I went in with my Ivara and basic Sortie weapon loadout, could sleep and stealth, only had a problem with the surprise (and the occasional explosive shot in the face); dealing with them was easy because of the weapon loadout and stealth giving clear openings to deal damage and strip resistances.

Buddy went in with Atlas and gear in the middle of re-levelling (thanks to the weapon balance pass free affinity booster), and without luxuries of stealth, easily applied group CC, or totally up to par damage.. Well, I took over once he was on last revive to spare the frustration of lost progress and I still barely scraped through.

If not for Operator resistance-stripping, which is a mechanic we're still never told about as far as I recall, I'd say it's almost guaranteed that a typical player would experience a failure due to not having the damage spread prepared in advance.

i brought my rank 14 Octavia I was leveling and rank 22 vulkar wraith and did just fine in that mission. I think the issue is you probably haven't fought sentients a whole lot so you don't have experience dealing with them. yeah they're strong, but that's the point, they are an end-game faction. Level 20 sentients were easily manageable for an underleveled frame and load-out so I feel you are exaggerating.

I happened to be using Titania, my new love, for the quests.   Razorwing made short work of them, but until I remembered about Razorwing, I died a couple of times trying to cope with them "normally"  - are they even affected by cc abilities?

Anyway, normally if you're going to Lua it's best practice (as I've found with other frames) to have staggered A,B and C loadouts on Primary, Secondary and Melee, so you switch between them (e.g. I have A set up for Corrupted/Infested, B for Corpus and C for Grineer).  Being able to switch damage types lets you kill them fairly easily.  I'd actually forgotten to do that before playing Titania into the Lua mission for the first time, which is why I had the problem that was solved by Razorwing.

I didn't knew i will fight sentients ( i usually farm them with excalibur's exalted blade) but i had frost with max duration and range & tigris. I froze them all then started 1 shooting 'em; they dropped like dead butterflies.

When in doubt, Atlas. He's my go-to for Sentient killing when I know I'm going to go up against some. Load up a good impact + elemental damage buffed melee and spam 1. Collect loot.

Failing that, take a potato'd shotgun and a hard hitting secondary. Spec them up with completely different damage types. Failing even that, space brat hand beam will reset their resistances. Also stand directly under the discoball, if you can't get around a corner.

So yeah I've just been doing this and WTF DE? these are comfortably the strongest sentients I've ever fought, went in with maxed Banshee leveling 2 weapons (ignis wraith and caustacyst, not ideal I accept that) and an op Rakta balista.

Got rekt.

Next Mesa, with a red crit dread and a lex P I solo (secondary only) sortie lephantis with (both with different elemental types) no melee, cos Mesa (also meleeing sentients is the worst). Once again rekt, admittedly I didn't know about the operator beam, no idea how I was supposed to find out. Killed 4 of them, then another 3 rocked up and after 30 minutes of dealing with these S#&$ty "level 20" sentients who kept 2 hitting me despite my shatter shield (and so was down to 1 revive). I honestly CBFd and aborted.

I get why you got rid of their rewards, that's fine. The issue is I now have to solo this many for basically nothing. And unless I cheese it with Frost (+ Hek) or Excal or some other sentient specialisation combo (which seems like a pretty dumb way of having to complete the second part of a barely even midgame quest) doing so is going to be an effing pain.

Given your recent efforts to reign in the power creep (cheers guys push through the salt) alla tonkor, simulor etc. making these sentients so mindlessly OP really seems like you're shooting yourselves in the foot.

(also on a side note, UI fix, pls, pls, pls)
