Chroma is lacking skins

Do you own that design?

DE is not going to go implementing copyrighted material into the game. If someone will waive ownership so DE can profit, sure. Otherwise, there is no way anyone can submit that skin. I would not buy that skin.

We do need some better Chroma skins though.

Now that I think about it this maybe the wrong forum classification to be under. Maybe General Discussion would have been more appropriate.

This is might be an okay section. You are stating there needs to be more Chroma Tennogen.

I honestly find these kinds of threads pointless. If there is a TennoGen artist who wants to make a Chroma skin, they'll make a Chroma skin. If something hasn't been done already (aside the current ones), then no one has found the time, motivation, or any other factor to do so.

This.

It can also means some artists are already working on it, but don't share WIP.

I'd be very curious though, about the technical issues/constraints regarding Chroma. It's just not simply 2 models, it's a model, with the skin of another on his back.

Holy crap, and the interactions on the 'double' head. Good luck making your own helm.

From my -totally amateur- point of view, nonetheless.

That pic is taken from a user Endrian

And besides...In my opinion, that user's dragon frame was better... but oh well. I wouldn't wish to see that skin on Chroma. I still think the user deserves his frame the way he envisioned it, but DE has already made their decision on this already.

Chroma lacks skins for the same reason Nidus and Inaros do: Their models have too many in-built features to allow for much creativity with just texture/normal map changes. Pronounced ridges, dangling accessories, and attached bits of metal, all with a surprising lack of smooth surfaces like you see on Volt or Ember, means that it's difficult to paint a picture that winds up looking much different than the default Frame.

Fair enough.

This couldn't work in game, too different from the base model. There are limitations on what we can do for warframe skins, re-texturing or
painting bevels and lines is all good usually but we can't change the form of anything on the warframe body, only helmets

Precisely. Chroma, natively is ugly enough to want a good skin for him. But the flowing lines on his pelt have ridges that can't be changed into something else.

I was working on something for him for 2-3 months, didn't get past Zbrush. I knew i was done for on this project when i got to the pelt, the hexagon stone look i was going for can't happen as it breaks the form of the model too much :(

I was going for a Foo Lion Chinese style, hoping to do the pelt with a stone texture in Substance Painter. I think it's pretty fubar'd tho after test baking :(

I wish that skin would've worked out. It looked amazing

Thank you very much! I might keep trying, at some stage but lost hope on it for now so slowly working on other projects. Just if i could get the hexagons to not break the base model in some way, i even put them along the bits that come out and run along down his spine and arms, tail. even to make the bits that make him look like a crocodile into hexagon bits lol. It'd be satisfying to finish off the stone-skin, with bands of metal and emissive for energy
