Hey guys,

I am sure that a lot of you are seriously annoyed with life support and the fact that having a Nekros in the team is required, well DE did Survival like this to make sure somebody can't just AFK for 45 mins and then exit with no intention of killing anything. Anywho based on how Excavation worked I have an idea for how Survival can be redone

 

Not entirely sure where to start but for now, let's scrap the current system. Completely forget how survival works:

 

 

Objective

Your objective is to cut off life support on the ship, however that is suicidal. So The Lotus will send you life support, in order for her to be able to do that (without space magic teleport) you will need to activate these bays where the pods will come through.

 

These bays are spread across the map and each have a set cool-down before re-activation.

 

The bays are marked as "A, B, C, D" etc with another suffix if the tile is large enough to support more than one, so you could have A1 and A2 in the same room.

 

The Lotus will announce you "Bay A is ready". So you can go there and activate it.

 

 

Life Support

Now, life support will decrease at the same rate as it does now. The bays will increase life support at the same rate as it decreases. So if you have one bay activated Life Support will stop (frozen timer) if you have two it will slowly increase, the more the faster this increase.

 

Now here is the tricky part, the enemies can destroy these bays which is a bad thing because they have a cooldown. So if Bay A is gone, you may need to wait a minute or so before you can re-activate it.

 

The amount of Bays available can depend on mission difficulty, i.e T4 Survival will contain more than a T1 Survival but bays may open up as time goes.

 

 

Other Life Support Idea

Every player has a separate life support line. If it goes to 0% they die, simple as that, they can use revives but that is about it.

To recharge your personal life support you must remain near a bay where you will see yours linked to the bay. This way it makes sense for you to stay near the bay and defend it.

 

It will decrease as it does now, except it will increase slightly faster if you are linked (since technically you cannot be in two places at once). This balances out a squad's common goal and also eliminates the one person camping spots gameplay.

 

 

 

 

You will not pick up life support from the ground anymore but you shouldn't have to worry about life support as much. So long as you keep up the bays you should be fine.

1. We cut off life support, I'm assuming, to kill the enemy.

2. However, Lotus sends life support to keep up the O2 supply of the ship. Seems counter-productive.

3. And then the Grineer want to destroy the only source of life support available to them now that we've cut off theirs.

There's something wrong with our objective and the enemy objective.

 

1. We cut off life support, I'm assuming, to kill the enemy.

2. However, Lotus sends life support to keep up the O2 supply of the ship. Seems counter-productive.

3. And then the Grineer want to destroy the only source of life support available to them now that we've cut off theirs.

Yeah was thinking of this whilst writing however keep in mind the following:

-Nobody said that the enemy is fully out of life support, maybe they have canisters

-They want us dead more than anything :/

Hmm, no to destroyable bays, sorry.

I want to survive in survival, not defend objectives (we have Interception, Mobdef, Def, and soon Excavation for that).

 

I honestly wish they just made it survive for as long as you can, no faff, just enemies.

Yes Loki can go Invis almost permenantly, but only until energy sapping units are everywhere.

To prevent AFK exploits, we are a distraction right, so if we don't kill anything for a set time, boom, Tenno operative has been exposed and mission failed.

I like your idea as a mission type, but it's not a replacement for survival as it is a defense.

 

The problem with survival is as you have stated the lack of life support which leads to a mandatory nekros to get over 20 min even.

 

 

 

Also on most missions it is easy to survive for long as it is, this change will simply make it less RNG and more strategic. I would like a basic just survive mode but I am unsure how that would work out (worth a try though):/

They drop LF capsules.....

There's a reason behind that.
