New Open Warzone map- Sands of Mars

We have Plains with Grineer, we have Fortuna with Cropus, why not mix it together?
Mars- the perfect warzone open map. As we know from the lore and game, on this planet there is a constant struggle  between Corpus and Grineer.

What Tenno are doing here?: We have received a secret distress signal coming from under the surface of the planet. It turns out that this is an hidden underground city of refugees from Grineer invasion who are calling for help! Baro Ki'Teer is not alone anymore! We must help defend this city and set up an ground tenno relay.

What the map looks like?
Mars is a giant desert planet. On surface there are a lots of ruins, remains of a civilization that once lived there. You can also encounter hidden tombs and temples. Desert may look barren, but it's far from it. There are a lot of dangerous animal species. At north side of map you meet the frontline of Corpus-Grineer conflict. Artillery firing positions, bases under the shield barriers. Trenches with turrets and soldiers of both sides constantly firing at each other. And massive headquarters of both sides. Imagine a Geonosis from Star Wars in Warframe universe

On sky however, there is a constant space battle with explosing formorians and corpus capital ships (possible Railjack connection) You can find their wrecks on the desert with wounded personel inside getting eaten by wildlife. If you use archwing on this map, in second a fighter regiment will be send to shoot you down. So better stay on the ground.

There are also huge canyons and underground cave connection. But watch out what you will find inside of them... There is also a third forgotten enemy...

New Enemies: Grineer armored divisions. Tanks, Walkers, now Grineer are more deadly than ever! Corpus also gets much bigger and more dangerous machines! And a lot of space crafts

New type of activites:

Worm Hunting
No more easy fishing, there will be no fish on mars. Time to do something brutal and hunt down a giant Sand Worm! These monster creatures with lenght up to 40 meters are hiding in the dunes of the desert waiting for preys. Preys like Tenno. Try to survive and kill it for great loot!

Edit 2 (idea by Nightseid) The Great Manta Hunting
Same as Sand Worm, but this time you hunt a gigantic Manta

Tomb raiding!
Search for hidden 'Skymen'. temples and tombs, left by ancient Mars civilization. Try to uncover what had been lost in time. But watch out for guardians, traps and corpus raiding squads!

Podobny obraz

Mercenary
Sign up for one of the sides in conflict, and participate in next assault at enemy position. Feel the warzone at your skin! Invasions never have been so alive!

Edit 1:
New idea, relations with each side commander! Do war effort for Grineer or Corpus,  go up in ranks of the army, get fresh loot and weapons, maybe Vay Hek even call you a good maggot? Faction with which you have good relations is neutral to you, untill you attack them.

Frontline Slaughter (by Noldastyr)
It's something like a Defection Conclave mission, where you both escorting your own commanders between points, and try to kill their commanders.
You can power up points, but not just plain life-supports, rather defense gears....nullifier fields, autoturrets, healing towers, reinforcement callers etc. The spawn is like a crossfire map, npc roaming around fighting each other, reactor carriers spawns on each side, those drops the stuff that you need to hoard to the defense gears to empower them (basicly to level up them, and empower them temporary). If you escort an officer successfully, your side's spawn level up. Both side have a Sanctuary Onslaught like efficiency meter, which is based on which side is killing more of the enemies, the first to drop to zero loses. The catch is, you have conclave gears only, so scaling on pve kicks in faster, so you depend on the pve objectives, while having "rivals" in pvp

Defend of the border
Take positions on underground city defences, and repeal enemy advance! Use cannons, flak guns to take down vechicles and ships! Help from refugee soldiers included!

Spring cleaning
You need to sneak through the canyons to the dormant nest of the plague, and BURN IT UP TO THE GROUND. And ofcourse try to survive the encounter of more powerful mutated creatures than ever.

New Vechicle: A buggy type of vechicle with a railgun/cannon. His main role is to destroy  armored targets and ships. And ofcourse driving through the desert like Mad Max! Fully modable and customisable of course!

This is super cool-sounding, especially the invasions/mercenaries and the lost tomb exploring. An continuous active war zone would be very cool to have as part of an open world.

My two concerns are:

  • Performance. Spawning enough enemies, on both sides, for the conflict to feel alive may be a performance issue. I don't know.
  • The Grineer and Corpus are not actually in conflict over Mars, as far as we know. There was a conflict during the Gradivus Dilemma, but that was five years ago. They are stated to be contesting Phobos and Europa (you can see a Fomorian in the skybox over Europa), but Mars is pretty solidly under Grineer control.

About the preformance is not that big of a deal. In 1 year they managed to optimize a Fortuna, which is 2 times bigger than Plains. Assuming that they rework Mercury in next year, in 2 years overall preformance of game engine will be far better. Especially with new console generation and graphic cards.

And about lore, if you go to the mars there are both corpus and grineer mission. Also both factions  have orbiting capital ships there. The Mars is split between them. Faction incursions have a higher chance of occurring on this planet. A little plot change, and a great war will begin

How about instead of a new city, have the new faction actually be located and sheltered in relays not the planet. Then have them be archeologist/treasure hunters or...

Have it that bounties come in from all sorts of factions, some from celphalon samarus or the syndicates.

Some maroo or darvo.

Finding a last survivor's cache is a bit cliche.

That's a great idea! I agree that the last survivors are a bit overused in culture

Is there anything left in there though?

I don’t know, maybe? After some thought, I remembered that Pharoahs (like Inaros) often kept their wealth after death by having it buried with them. The Canopic Jars containing the (censored to prevent spoilers) couldn’t be the only things in there, but to get to it, you have to wear the Inaros Warframe and get past booby traps.

For mars I imagined something more of a giant Desert Ruin with the map Boss enemy being a Giant burrowing Rocky Earth Worm.

The map name? The last two OW maps had the area type and the enemy boss in it.

Parasites of Ruin... or something.
But even this sounds more Infested than Grineer.

So after Grineer and Corpus you want a warzone including both instead of an Infested open world hellscape?

Speaking of Infested... Eris is essentially a ruined Corpus city.
Could use the above idea.

I thought per the inaros quest, inaros destroyed all the infested on Mars- a process that killed him in the end.

I agree. Eris would be the location of an infested hellscape. Eris can be is littered with crashed ships of infested and corpus ships. And the faction that appeared during the nidus quest could make a reappearance here too.

Nice idea!
However, about the faction ranking and befriending commanders i would have some things to say:
1: Grineer and Corpus hates you. Even if you rank up, and become a "good maggot", in normal missions you go and cut down your "friends" over and over again. So all of the "reputation" things there shouldn't be reputation.
However, both of that faction sees you as an efficient warrior. And if you prove to be valuable they will use you for more deeper/strategic missions due to your "efficiency" and not due to the trust building up.
So rather than calling it reputation i would go on something like "Espionage level". And over gathering "standing" with them i would rather go for "Leaked informations".
You level up your "espionage" by hearing conversations you shouldn't, seeing their intentions since they can't keep you away from the battlefield.
2: Since they hate you, not shooting you is not decided by your reputation to them. If you say you work for them for now, they accept you. If you work against them, they shoot you.
I would implement this kind of "agreement" or "truce" or "mutually beneficial cooperation" with a faction Sigil. If you pick up Grineer sigil, you can't hurt grineer, and they'll be allied to you. Just like in the Siege missions. Same with corpus. For matchmaking causes, accepting a specific "bounty" should be able to change your sigil on the fly according to the bounty type you accepted.

And i also would suggest another type of "PvPvE" type of mission. If you like it, feel free to incorporate it into this post.

I was picturing something like the grineer “defectors” and some corpus members who decided to lay down their arms and help each other instead. But neither leaders of both sides appreciate their union so both sides try to wipe them out along with the rest.

Maybe lead to some unique alien combined technology. Like more advanced cybernetics. Rather than simple survivors, they would be the rebellion.

That’s what I pictured anyways.
