Warframe Companion App: Update 4.15

Warframe’s November update brought a handful of quality of life improvements to the core game, and now the handy Warframe Companion App for iOS and Android is also seeing a few changes! Version 14.5 on iOS and 4.15.0.3 on Android are rolling out around the globe this week to help make managing your Warframe experience while on the go just a little bit easier. 

Please note that mobile update rollouts work a little differently than on other platforms, and it could be a few hours or a few days before the new version reaches your particular device. With that in mind, here are the main changes coming to the Warframe Companion App with the latest update.

Changes to the Minimum Operating System Requirements

While we never want to leave any Tenno behind, it’s occasionally necessary to push the minimum hardware requirements forward in order to make future software advancements.

For android, the minimum supported Android version is now API 21 (Android 5.0 Lollipop). Devices running on operating systems prior to Android 5.0 that are unable to update to 5.0 or higher will not be able to utilize the Warframe Companion App. Device compatibility varies, but generally speaking, Android devices that were released after 2014 should be able to run 5.0 Lollipop.

For iOS, the minimum supported iOS version is now iOS 12. iPhones starting with 2013’s iPhone 5S and beyond can run iOS 12, however, hardware preceding the iPhone 5S won’t be able to. iPad devices released prior to 2013 are similarly unable to support iOS 12, though devices such as the iPad mini 2 (2013), iPad Air (2013), iPad mini 3(2014) and beyond are able to run iOS 12.

Updated Icons

The Mastery Rank icons that appear inside the Companion App have been changed to more accurately reflect the items players receive as Orbiter Decorations in game.

The latest update also reduces several image asset file sizes to improve performance.

Additional Changes

• Added Baro Ki’teer button text to swap between “View Weekly Baro Ki’teer” and View TennoCon Baro Ki’teer”
• TennoCon Baro will no longer be visible unless the time is less than 2 weeks until arrival
• TennoCon Baro will now show at the top of the departed layout.
• Added Nidus Prime passive description
• iOS and Android both now show the number pad on the 2FA dialogue screen
• The 2FA dialog box has changed from saying “KICK” to “OK” to avoid confusion
• Set the Kubrow view to a list style view
• Set the Void Relic view to a list style view

Fixes

• Fixed Android back button on the Featured Clans page and Syndicates page
• Fixed login error dialog being closed when touching outside of the dialog
• Fixed Android text field that was cutting off text

What’s the Warframe Companion App?

First time hearing about the Warframe Companion App? The free reference app available on iOS and Android devices allows Tenno to stay connected with the world of Warframe wherever they are, letting you build and claim Foundry items, track Alerts, World State and more.

Some key features include:

• Check your inventory to plan for your next session.
• Deploy Extractor Drones and automate your Resource gathering.
• Track Alerts, Sorties, and Void Fissures.
• Read the News & Community posts from the development team.
• Explore the Codex: read up on Warframes, Weapons, Mods and more.
• Chat with Clan members, send and receive friend requests.
• Build and claim Warframes, Weapons and gear in the Foundry.

View World Cycles: check if it’s day or night in the Plains of Eidolon, Fass or Vome in the Cambion Drift, warm or cold in the Orb Vallis, plus a countdown for when each World Cycle is set to change.

Will this update to the app allow the app to be used while in game or will it remain a system that can only be accessed when not actually in game?

This happens to me to on Android, I believe it's because i use the companion app for both my ps4 and nsw accounts, but I agree that it would be nice if there was a way to only get one push notification every time 🤣

The community tab hasn't been loading for me, and when I click back to the news tab that was loaded previously its blank as well. This has been happening for the past few months now unfortunately. I just wanted to bring it up incase others are experiencing it as well and since the companion app has a new update. I like the new changes though.

As I recall wouldn't because you need to choose loadout which can't be done via app.

My wife and I have been running into this issue as well. It's very annoying to tap a notification and then have to fight with the app to see the content.

This is cool and all, but why waste time developing platform apps when it could be a Progressive Web App (PWA)? You can reach Android and iOS with one platform, still have an app-like experience, and people can use it via the web on any computer, no apps required. No minimum Android or iOS system levels to worry about either.

You are technically correct. The question is, does DE even have a dev that knows how to make it. My guess is yes, but it is probably 1-2 people and the amount of work to port it might be not something they are willing to deal with.

Still, you are right and it will make it much more usable even on PC. Why use Warframe Hub for example if you need only the time of day on the open worlds, if the app is integrated in the Warframe site itself you will be able to simultaneously use it and play the game keeping track on the timers. Maybe when you are logged in ingame, it should not kick you from the game, but just disable anything that edits the inventory and gear in any way.Idk about everyone, but to me it sounds amazing.

If I recall correctly, you can hit cancel when it asks you to kick your active session, and still access stuff that isn't account specific: Baro, invasions, world cycles, etc. (Nightwave missions can be viewed but it won't show you your current progress)

Oh I didn't know that, thanks! The UI does not suggest that anything like that will happen, so i never thought it could work like that :D

I'm not one to complain, but this update literally ruined the app.

 

As mentioned above, some screens are too slow or even don't load at all. I can't check Baro, Invasions, Extractors, Codex, Inventory, nothing. The only thing that is still functioning normally is the foundry.

 

Also, for some reason, it's not remembering my login, so, unlike before, I have to type my psn ID/email and password every single time I have to open the app, which is immensely frustrating.

 

My device is lollipop so it should be working fine. Please take a careful look at the bugs mentioned to make the app less of a burden to use. Thank you.

I know that these things are often more complicated than they appear, and that I am certainly not the first person to suggest this, but how viable would it be to add the ability to upgrade mods & arcanes, visit and purchase items from the marketplace, and modify/upgrade equipment? I would personally love the added utility of being able to play “Menuframe” outside of my regular sessions so I can spend more time actually playing the game when I get home 🙏🏽

I haven't been able to log in to the app since the update. dropped.

I made sure my OS is supposed to be compatible (Android 5.1.1).

I've tried restarting the app, restarting my phone, doing two fresh reinstalls, waiting hours and days between attempts, and double-checking to make sure my login credentials were accurate.

It turns on and displays the news, but keeps telling me "Login Failed. Receiving an incorrect response from the server" every time I try to log in.

Edit: If this is the way it's supposed to be, then from the sound of the comment below mine, it's working for Android OS 6+, not 5+.

APP working good for me on Android 6 .

It would be great if in APP codex mods add info where they drop as it is in ingame codex .

Is there any way to make the app useful, who uses it?? and for what??

• you can't have 2 sessions active at the same time!!
• when the Baro comes, when selling items for ducati I have to go out and look in the inventory to see if I have the piece before selling it,
• just like when relic opens you have to guess if you have the part or not , I hope one day I don't have to make a spreadsheet and list myself what I have,
• resource bonus had to be an item you can use whenever you want,
• the reward at login number 1000 to win armor, I felt humiliated, or when I get 15000 credits or 200 endo,
• how difficult is it to generate a list/spreadsheet/page of everything I have versus what's missing,
• why they don't allow people to have access to an API, i talking one useful oficial API, "hey baro is comming" its not api even app
