"Nothing more we can than hope." Sereena whispers in a reply.

The silence was unsettling, but the echo from Sereena's sonar would reveal nothing. She looked over to Tara after Cyriann asked his question. "I don't feel anyone nearby." She tells as she shifts, wanting to reach out to the new bow on her back just in case.

The bow was heavier than her original shortbow, and was currently folded up on her back. She hadn't gotten much practice with it before the group left, but it had felt natural to use. The bow itself had taken to the metallic grey of the infected. The string of the weapon breaking the trend as it appeared to be made of sinew and was a dark red. It had surprised Sereena that there wasn't a stench emanating from this bow string, although it still was quite a disgusting sight.

While the original plan was for her to get into position to walk the two of them through to their target from a far, using her scope and enhanced vision modes to help them avoid enemy patrols, Tara decided otherwise and stuck with Sereena and Cyriann. They probably needed a pair of practiced hands to teach them the ropes anyway. And if push comes to shove, her handguns will come in handy when the fighting starts.

Pressing herself against a wall, she leaned a little beyond the edge of the corner to look around it with one of her Berettas at the ready, unsure of what she'd find.

"Ved Xol," she replied with the slightest hint of a smile, "the man who chose a woman over poker. Mercenaries hired by Anyo, and-" Here she let her smile grow a touch, "a little lighter on cash than last week." She folded her arms, meeting his gaze. "What brings you here?"

At her comment, the man could not help but look to the side with an awkward laugh, taking a more casual pose. She could sense she hit him in the flank with that.
"Rumors spread fast... guess I have my brother to thank for that. I apologize for his behavior, he has done nothing but complain ever since we came to this gǒu shǐ dòng." he let a little of his Chinese slip, before he brought his gaze back up to Annika "As for why I'm here, let's just say I was doing security oversight before I was tasked to play the role of tour guide. Of course, I'm getting paid extra, so I still win. Nako got the short straw anyway." once the cigarette was crushed and cold, he moved back to open the door for the lady and her bodyguard Jean, which he kept a long drawn out gaze on. "But frankly, the sooner we get this over with, the better. So, after you."

The door led straight to the massive hangar. Crates and cargo were placed all around the place, tall stacks evenly spaced to allow easy access by forklift. It almost looked like a labyrinth, but luckily the had a guide. "Sorry if everything's a mess, but I assure you your investment was not misplaced. I admit Anyo Corp. might seems a little... shady, but they'll take you seriously if your name means something. Workers should be loading off your merchandise soon, and the plane nearing final preparations. Want to assure the safety of your goods? We can head over there right now."

Dmitri nodded and put his own helmet on and began starting the truck. "How do you want to play this? I go high and you go low, Da?" he inquired to the one known as Prometheus, whilst his iron skin formed over his warframe, going metallic in texture and iron in color. He gripped the steering wheel and took the handbrake off.

Not many cars in Lasria were an automatic and Dmitri was glad he knew how to drive a manual gearstick... or how to drive a car from Russia.

"If it comes to it. We'll know when we'll see their defenses." Hayden answered, before he put his safety belt on, and off they went. The military vehicle would allow them to traverse many terrains, and it adapted well to the desolate streets of Lasria's capital city Larunda. And common infected were short work with a swift roadkill, or a drive-by decapitation by a particular bladed disk.

It would take them about the same time as the Recon Team to reach the borders of the airfield, or at least the zone around it that was constantly monitored. Hayden told Dimitri to stop by a half ruined apartment building, and went to it's top floor to get a better look from cover. Dimitri was free to join him.
"They've got sniper towers, about four of them on this side. Knowing Lasrian critical response time, they'll have a firing line set up in a matter of minutes. We can make it if we hit the gas, but..." he took a look back at their vehicle, the inconveniently roofless vehicle. "Not sure how many rounds of their caliber we can take."

Their sight would not be very different from Annika's. Cargo containers and crates stacked and placed around in typical warehouse fashion, only a little disorganized since there's an apocalypse raging outside, giving it an corridor/labyrinth like feel. Most path were wide enough for forklifts to go through, while others were tight enough to hide in. Most stacks were pretty tall, enough to hide them from guards on walkways above were they to press their back to them. Many of the crates had different trademakrs, some in Lasrian text, of famous manufacturers one might've seen in the pre-ruined country, and of course crates belonging to the Corps, mainly Anyo Corp. But there were more, including Glass Corp. and Vayenshki Corp. One has to wonder what's inside... and then there's their main objective. And considering the size of the target they're looking for, it's obviously in the direction of the massive closed main hangar doors, where no cargo blocks it's way out once it's ready for takeoff. But it might be worth poking around. After all, this might be their only opportunity to sniff around in this place, so deep behind enemy lines...

Eitherway, the path was clear. Time to move.

On a nearby walkway two persons pass by, followed by a guard.

"Jiiiiin !!!" The girl calls visibly struggling to keep up with the man. "Can't you wait for me a second ? I'm tired, got a whole flight in my legs and you have me walking around since I arrived, I'm a scientist not a soldier, I need rest !" She says as the man stops to turn to her.

"No. You're high priority, can't let you in one spot, you have to follow. No complaints." He almost seem robotic in his behavior as he takes her by the arm and drags her behind. "Have to survey cargo, bring you at base, safer to wait for cargo gone before bringing you to Mother." Clearly this man is harsh with the lady, not having a care in the world for her.

"You outlanders always this noisy?" complained a third voice, following their oddly rapid pace "Like it isn't enough I have to keep an eye on you all day."

The man was rather annoyed with the situation. Geared up but nowhere to go, today's field mission was canceled thanks to the arrival of that couple, an extension of his task to keep them in check delaying it to the point of termination. Could've yielded a fat paycheck, but instead he's got this. He took off some layers of kevlar from his arms, but kept the chest piece on. To the Infiltration team he would appear to be an outlandish merc of higher rank, but miss Du'Bois has met the likes of Nako before. Both Xol brothers at one place means business.

"Told you to stay with shipment, insisted on coming, your problem now." He answers as the girl finally breaks free and sits down pouting.

I look around warry of any potential threat to see us, thanking Tara for all the pointers she gave me, keeping myself close to walls, picking discreetly, all that was helping me a lot to not get noticed in this situation.

Although at one point I suddenly stop, seeing a crate with a symbol I know all too well, a sakura emblasoned with a crest, confirming what I thought, Sakuraba clearly is involved.

"Not good..." I make a movement to Tara, asking her to come and see. "Sakuraba had something unloaded from this plane, what do we do ? Keep going or..." I know my question is stupid, but I can't help and be curious to peek inside to see what in the world they have had sent here.

Internally Annika flinched slightly. Her put on paranoia about the cargo meant it would seem odd if she didn't check it out at least, but that meant running the risk of the others being exposed before they go out. She weighed things up for the briefest of moments, then made her choice. "Of course. I wouldn't have gone to the trouble of following it here if I didn't ensure it had arrived safely. And of course Anyo Corp is shady, they have to be to work somewhere like Lasria. Old Soviet countries tend to have lots of corruption." She followed Ved through the stacks of crates, in silence at first. Then a question came to her.

"What did you mean when you said Nako got the short straw? Is he stuck behind a desk doing paperwork, or something else? Gods know I hate paperwork myself." She allowed her face to sour briefly at the mention of paperwork. It wasn't something that she needed to put on either. While she had gotten pretty luck being CPS, she also spent a fair bit of time analysing photographs and information gathered from elsewhere in the field. There were times it was incredibly tedious.

Nako's voice from above answered Annika's question. Her concern from earlier spiked at the presence of both the Xol brothers being on site. She did, however, smile slightly. "Mr Nako Xol," she said, her voice echoing up to him on the walkway, "come to see what I bought with your money?" It was a deliberate goad, but Annika felt it was in character for Du Bois. And a little teasing never hurt anyone...

Much.

He wasn't looking forward at their chances of getting this truck back should they assault the base but it would've had a nice run.

"Job description is do whatever boss say. And boss say follow you two wūyā around till you leave. Don't mean I have to like it." Nako replied. He might seem threatening, but he's merely escorting them, added security. Barking is all he's allowed to do, and that's just because nobody's there to silence him. But he seems to be the kind of person who likes to let everyone know he's annoyed. Fortunately, that work's in the Tenno's favor.

Inspecting the crate revealed more of the mystery. Sakuraba did not seem to expect anyone but their own people to look at their cargo, so a general description of the contents was give right on the surface. Electro-mechanical parts, heavy but made out of light metal material. It were merely components of something bigger. Prototype components. There was nothing noting any biochemical contents or anything related to the technocyte, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's safe.

It's all they had time to learn about though. Once distant voices now seemed closer, tongues that sounded distinctly non-Lasrian. Was it time to move, or to eavesdrop?

As if today could't get any worse, Nako turned with a roll of his eyes to the last person he wanted to see right now. He doesn't always treat the one's who have beaten him with disrespect, but he's too used to playing with his people back home, foreigners being unfairly difficult to read for him. Either he's holding a grudge, or doesn't like having salt rubbed into his wounds.

"Yeah, yeah, f*ck you too, chāngfù." he spat.

"Nako! Yǒu yīxiē kèzhì!" called back his brother, calling him out on his impoliteness.

"Bié shuōle, I'm done talking to you." he replied with a bitter tongue and turned around again, refusing to pay them any more of his attention. He kept muttering under his breath, but only the Sakuraba employees could hear his Chinese ramblings.

Back on ground floor, Ved shook his head and turned to Annika again "I apologize for my for my brother's rude behavior. As I mentioned before, he's been having a bad day. Coupled with his difficulty adapting to foreign land, his whole stay has been one huge rant. Pay him no mind, he'll cool off after his paycheck, or after he shot and stabbed something."

"There's a bolt action in the trunk, along with some C4. We're prepared for a fight, we just have to make sure to get there once the sirens start ringing. Remember we're an assault force, not just support. We have to gain the bulk of their attention at all cost, so that Recon and Infiltration can gather intel and accomplish our objective." Hayden reaffirmed. He kept watching the base, but his eye wandered "We'll have to make sure that if any of us get hurt today, it's us, not them. I'm done treating allies like cannon fodder."

Annika waved away Ved's apology. "I did relieve him of a large amount of money. I don't blame him for being bitter about it." She flicked her glance back up at the two with Nako. "Who does Nako have with him?" She asked, gesturing with finger towards them. The pouting girl was her primary interest. She seemed a little too young to be here, or indeed to be involved in this kind of business. Then she silently laughed at herself. According to her constructed backstory, she'd started at a young age too. Family business and all. Probably the same thing that had happened here.

Then she stopped, closing her eyes and rubbing her temples, her face pinched as if in pain. What looked like someone with a bad headache or migraine was a cover, preventing anyone from seeing her eyes from glowing as she used her powers. She located the infiltration team ahead, reaching out to touch their minds.

'We are coming to check on the cargo I 'bought'. Make sure you aren't there when we arrive.'

"..." I look at the description perplexed by it, prototype parts ? Here ? I could get an idea of why, but the development of a prototype here only spurred terrifying ideas to my mind, they could well be designing specifically to counter us, just like that old man, Vor, had this "ascaris" thing.

But as I extend my hand to peek inside Sereena picks up on people approaching and Annika notifies us she is coming to see the cargo. "Urgh... As much as I'd like to give Sakuraba trouble we can't get noticed, Tara ?"
I turn to our chief. "What do we do now ?" I question before going to Sereena to see if her probing with her abilities had made any progress. "Sereena, anything you can find that looks like the exit with your sound ?"

The girl jiggles at the outburst of her second guard. "At least you have emotions, not like a certain robot here." She says eyeing over Jin, whom immediately replies by stretching her ear. "Oooooooooooooooooooooow !" She breaks free again protecting her red ear and taking cover behind Nako. "That's mean ! Only Lady Kyoko is authorized to do this to me !" Her voice is loud and clear, and easy to hear for the group accompanying the second brother.

A grunt of despair comes from Jin. "Any room you can lock her in until shipment is loaded and plane is gone ?" He then asks Nako, not even turning around, his eyes fixated on the two women accompanying Nako's brother. "Would like to talk to them, can't with a child tugging at leg." Nako would clearly hear the girl preparing to answer back but a single look from Jin, cold as an iceberg shot her mouth shut instantly. "Yes or no, now." He clearly isn't inclined on waiting.

"No." replied the foreigner merc, not interested in wasting time either "I would prefer to just throw her back into the plane, but we can't have that. And my employer would be mad if we lock her up. But by all means, go bother my brother. The less of you around me the better." He tilts his head a little to look at the smaller woman "I'll keep an eye on your squeaky toy."

"I'm here you two..." She says lightly tapping her foot in annoyance. "Fine Jin, I'm coming with you, else you're gonna scare the poor ladies." Her smile is more that of a mischievous child than that of the scientist she pretends to be, but Jin's sigh clearly shows she won't let go of them.

"Let's go, show the way to meet the others." He says to the mercenary, almost like an order, but visibly he held on the superior tone.

Sereena's attention was turned to one particular noise as Cyriann asked if she found anything. She barely had gotten to sending the low echo pulse out as a new noise graced her ears. It was a low rumbling, or to her it sounded like that as the others most likely couldn't hear it. "I do hear something... Might be an engine? It could be the plane." She hums out as she looks to Tara, awaiting her orders on what to do next.

Tara gestured for the two of them to do as she did and slowly moved towards the plane, making use of any cover that was available and using misdirection by throwing small rocks good distance away from where they would be heading to in order to get the guards and workers to turn away from them.

Upon reaching the crates closest to the plane, Tara held position with Cyriann and Sereena, observing their moves.

"Since when did you treat us like cannon fodder?" asked Dmitri towards Hayden as the Lasiran put on his iron skin and rolled his neck. he was itching for a fight and to throw the bulk of the army towards him so he could crush them beneath his fists "Shall we begin?" he asked Hayden with a curious hum. His hand on the starter key to roar the truck into life. To say Dmitri was getting a little impatient was an understatement...something was making him impatient and it wasn't the wait itself.

Maybe something in his brain made him itch...

Annika waved away Ved's apology. "I did relieve him of a large amount of money. I don't blame him for being bitter about it." She flicked her glance back up at the two with Nako. "Who does Nako have with him?" She asked, gesturing with finger towards them.

'We are coming to check on the cargo I 'bought'. Make sure you aren't there when we arrive.'

"Those two? New arrivals from Sakuraba, a valuable benefactor to Anyo. The small one's a scientist, believe it or not, the other's added security. Doesn't stop for anything that guy, like he's running on orders." answered Ved, before he caught glimpse of Annika looking in pain. He feigns concern "You alright? Need a... whatchacall it... aspirin?"

Meanwhile, Nako would begrudgingly lead Jin and the small woman down the catwalk to the ground. It led them to the truck, where he was expecting them to already be. He looked at it with an inquisitive look as they passed by "Hmm... weird... must be hers..." he mused.

Sure enough, Sereena was right. They reached a pretty big clearing in the hangar, and that's where the plane was parked, facing the closed hangar doors. It was massive, one could wonder how it was difficult to find it in the first place. It's engines were rearing lowly, and the cargo ramp was open. Workers were carrying boxes onto it, one inspecting the engines and checking things on a notepad. Airplane launches are usually dangerous, so they're likely not planning to do so with this many people around, though they're evidently preparing for it. Over the low rumble the workers could be heard talking.
"Huff... how many more?"
"Just this few... then it's the hazmat team's turn."
"Yeah... haven't seen em today though. Are they behind schedule?"
"Yup. Something about their jeep going missing... weird, huh?"

Aside from them, the engine inspector was talking into an earpiece.
"They're working fine... yeah... um, 60% you say? That's odd... they'll be overheating at this rate... I dunno, you're the pilot... yeah, I'll tell em. Call me when you get somewhere, I'll be in the mess hall."

"Not until they need it." he replied "And I didn't mean you, I meant... nevermind."

The quiet wasn't only affecting Dimitri. Hayden wanted in on the action too. Not as much to shoot something as to make sure everything's going smoothly. Silence is bad reassurance. Of course, if everything goes well this whole operation would be silent. And that's the unnerving part. It could also be the worst case scenario too.
It can't be helped. His own life and the objective aren't the only things that matter this time. Must've been how she often felt.

This feeling sucks.

It was difficult to keep up with two conversations going on at the same time. It would be something Sereena failed at if it wasn't for Zek softly chiming in that he'll listen to the engine inspector's words.

Despite the engine's rearing in the background, Sereena felt anxious that she might speak too loudly. "The hazmat team is late because of a missing jeep." She explains as Zek seamlessly chirps up when she falls silent. "That guy thinks the engines might overheat." he says as he takes control of Sereena's arm, raising it to point at the engine inspector. The movement was a little awkward as Sereena resisted it a little, which was more from not knowing what Zek was planning than being afraid of what he'd do.

“Great, the noise will help us. Let's move.” muttered Tara, gesturing for the others to follow her. “Stay low.”

Pressing herself against a crate, she peeked around corners and moved only when she was sure no one was looking.

After a tense couple of minutes, she managed to lead the three of them into the cargo bay.

Right on cue, as the engine inspector and workers had vacated the area, the air was clear and the team was on the move. The plane's cargo ramp was down, and it's confines were free for the Tenno to explore. Nobody seemed to be inside either, aside from the pilots in the cockpit they knew about, but so far they had no intention of going there. It's merely the cargo area, and their target. That which supposedly threatens all Tenno kind is somewhere in there. They just have to find it, and eradicate the threat.

The engines' rattling was evident inside too. There was a multitude of neatly arranged crates, ranging from weapons caches to prototypes judging by the labels. None have been locked or fastened yet, likely for the hazmat team to decontaminate everything inside and out once they're there. There is a considerable lack of enferon in the air.

Since they themselves don't know the nature of their target, it could be in any of these. It could be labeled as an experimental weapon, a prototype, research samples... but there were two rather noteworthy items deeper in. A small but pristine metal suitcase, requiring a fingerprint to open, shipping information written on it's side. And a large reinforced container closed with a pressure valve mechanism, labeled "subject: UNCLASSIFIED".
To inspect and check all the cargo in the limited time the team has, each one should focus on something else.

Annika took on the information, even as she waved away the offer for painkillers. "I should be alright. The headaches spike sometimes is all." She could tell he was only feigning concern, though whether that was him simply not really caring about her or something else she couldn't tell. She continued following him through the warehouse to the crates she'd purchased, hoping the others had gotten the message and scarpered before they got there.

To be honest, if the mission was going to go down hill at any point, one of the better places would be here in the warehouse. Room to run and hide, her telepathic abilities giving her the initiative, and likely all kinds of toys to cause chaos with.

Before the other guests arrive Jin's eye scans the place, letting a cough out as he sees some of the shipment that he ordered to be shipped in priority was still there, he was sure no one had listened. "Mercenaries should learn the job is to obey orders." Is the only thing he says.

"Some of it is already on board, so I've heard. Cut them some slack." said Nako as the second group arrives.

"Yay! More people to talk to !" The girl springs from her spot towards Annika, Jin missing the catch to stop her by a fraction of a second. "Hi! I'm Sophie, Lady Kyoko's Assistant!" She says with a bright smile and a hand shooting to the fine woman in front of her.

"Quiet." A thud sounds as Jin hits her on the head. "Important package should know better than to speak openly." His eye lock onto Annika's as they narrow. "Never heard of you. Name? Work?" He seems much more suspicious than the guards and the scientist accompanying her.

My input wasn't needed, my senses were nothing special and I had zero idea of what to do, I was basically firepower for the team so until we do searches or fighting I was useless, hence I kept my mouth shut.

But now, we are to search, so at least here I can use my eyes. "I'll check on the suitcase, you two look at the big case, with your enhanced senses you might tell what's inside." I say in signs, just as Tara had tought us, thank god Edge helped me imprint them faster.

Going toward the case I spot another crate with Sakuraba, though this time it's open. What I see is unclear, something mechanical, a big chunk of something with joints. "What could that be?" I wonder to myself, Edge shrugging my worries off by refocusing me on the case.

Annika raised her eyebrows at the girl's, Sophie's, exuberance, then met Jin's gaze with a cool and entirely unintimidated look. Inwardly, she glowered at the man for refering to Sophie as an 'important package'. Though no stranger through the term due to having been Army Intelligence, hell even designating some people as 'important package' herself, she disliked the term. It was dehumanising in her eyes.

"Thought Anyo, sorry, the government, owned this airport, not Sakuraba," she replied coolly, the implication that it was none of his business obvious in her tone.

"I'm security. Answer." He says as Sophie's expression goes from her childlike smile to a much more contained and closed face as she turns and glares at the man.

"The hell you are." Butted in Nako "You're here to pick the girl up, nothing more. Quit acting like you own the place." his response was swift and sterm, making sure he'd convey who's boss, Jin's looking towards him only filled with disdain as he grunts.

"Can't you let people be for five seconds ?I know your father must have told you can do whatever you want, but the simpla fact she is here means she is no danger." She says too as she turns to him, hands on her hips, Jin looking down on her as he frowns and mutters an almost unhearable ramble. "notcountingmisterNakoisright"

"Fine." He looks back to Annika. "You fall under surveillance, meaning, try anything, you're dead, both of you." He didn't even acknowledge Jean's presence beyond noting they are two, he hasn't even looked at her, deeming her a non-threat in comparison to the woman in front of him.

Sophie sighs before looking at the other woman, more like a girl, that accompanies that fine dressed woman, giving her a warm smile as her much more childlike behavior seems to return. "Sorry for Jin, he is worse than a robot someti..." She gets another hit on the head, to which she doesn't respond by much more than a falsely stifled grunt of annoyment.

"Well, glad to see everyone's getting along..." announced Ved, to which Nako scoffed. He paid him no mind "I believe Du'Bois wanted to check on her cargo. If you allow..."

Annika gave Jin an entirely unamused look. "You do not dictate what I can and can't do. Harming me will have repercussions. Do not try to." She brushed passed him, moving deeper into the warehouse. Of course, the repercussions she mentioned were not the ones that others might have in mind. They didn't know she was a telepath, and more than capable of trapping them in their worst nightmares.

She paused a few steps behind the Sakuraba pair. "And do stop hitting Sophie. It's rude, and the poor girl doesn't deserve it." With that parting shot, she led Ved lead her and Jean to the cargo. She also let her mind brush over theirs, a feather touch, as if looking at a distant object through a telescope.

While Cyriann was off tending to that odd suitcase, Sereena paced towards the large container. It was hard to maintain concentration with the, to her loud, engines rumbling outside the plane. She slowly walked around the container, looking to see if anything else was on it besides the label and the valve. "Do you think they keep anything alive inside of this?"

Switching to the smaller but significantly more powerful Mare's Leg, Tara gave the interior of the plane a once-over before examining the container that Sereena was taking a look at.

"Possibly. Stay a good distance away from that though. Not sure what's in side of it." said Tara, her fingers tightening their grip on the gun while her trigger finger stayed clear of the trigger.

She was ready and raring to go if push came to shove. She was prepared to stand her ground if need be.

While she managed to look calm, Jean very nearly flinched when she received that stare, completely sure she had burned their cover and she'd get everyone under trouble. The rifle she bore was a burden, and the hidden ceramic blades hidden all over her felt oddly comforting. As it turned out however, it was just the man's paranoia, all was (mostly) well.

His instant dismissal of her was both good, being underestimated was always profitable, and infuriating. She was torn between sighing in relief and whapping him behind the ear just to show the man what she was made of, and did neither, until things started to go wrong.

Cargo checking...That was bad. That could go from zero to open battleground fast, and she really didn't feel like spilling bood right now, so...Bluff it was. The good news was, she knew, just what to do, who to emulate. Channeling 'Uncle David' at his finest, she kept a calm smile and a tone of voice that felt disturbingly cheerful, lightly tapping on her rifle as her eyes sunk into Jin's and simply didn't let go, suddenly intense.

"I am repercussions, by the way. Start something and I'll gladly end it. So let's not go that way, shall we?"
