Oh man I so hope I get picked for closed alpha! I simply adore DE and it'd be great if I could be part of the next best thing from my favorite dev.

Maybe it'll be something like a team objective based fps? I'm all the way in.

Should we share referral links though? dunno

Well... I think it will be like Paladins because of the mentioned card system more than Overwatch. So... Grab the Point and Escort the Payload at the start?

We'll only find out if we get chosen for the alpha. Knowing DE, I'm pretty sure it'll at least be flashy af.

And bugs! More shiny bugs!

I only got one thing to say.......

WHO THE HELL CALLS A SHOOTER GAME KeyStone!!!!!!!!!!!!............

All I had to say, sounds lame to me already because of the title (which sounds like some old and lame runscape rpg game).. I'll stick to WF!

I'm glad it won't affect WF at least now, but to be a realist a game studio is going to be focusing on it's best game the most, so I selfishly hope that keystone will never become as great as Warframe so Warframe will always stay the main focus of DE

This.

It's great that they're going for a new venture, but it's also a slippery slope, I still remember Hi-Rez studios, a developer from who I used to play a game years ago, and they made a real name for themselves dropping an older game the moment their new venture proves more immediately profitable. Dropped Global Agenda for Tribes Ascend, then Tribes Ascend for SMITE.

Suffice to say, Hi-Rez studios taught me to trust a game developer studio as far as I can throw them. After all, money talks, and despite the entertaining experience, it's their hand in my wallet what they ultimately want.

Yeah but keep in mind, DE as a studio has to accept that while Warframe has a few years left, it is unlikely to remain a sustaining money maker for a studio forever. No game ever is enough that way. Even with constant expansions, Blizzard has released many other games besides WoW to keep themselves going strong.

I guess my point is, Keystone being strong means that even if Warframe isn't really making much money anymore, that as long as Warframe still has a dedicated playerbase, DE will be able to afford to keep Warframe going because Keystone is doing so bloody well.

I'm not already sounding the "changing of the guard, after all its only alpha and I think Warframe has at least 2-3 years before serious and permanent player losses start due to people just having enough of it after some time. But if DE can be successful with new games before that time period comes, they can keep Warframe afloat for many years after when it would normally be put out to pasture, as long as a dedicated set of people keep playing -- because as a studio, they are successful with other projects, and don't feel pinched on every dime they spend.

So IMO, Keystone's success actually means Warframe gets more development time/lasts longer.

TL;DR Keystone being successful means DE can keep Warframe going as a vanity project for some dedicated fans longer after most people have stopped playing. Keystone not being successful means DE has to bet even harder on Warframe, despite it already being a few years deep, and many in the gaming community already having tried it at one point or another (26 million registered sounds good, but it means there is a small pool of actually new customers DE can attempt to acquire for Warframe, as most people have tried it at one point or another, and already have an opinion about it -- the games days are numbered).

You have a very optimistic view, one I can't say I share. A business is not going to keep a game going when it's not sustaining itself anymore. It may stay online, but usually only in the dreaded maintenance mode. Then all the ''warframe will come out of beta when it's done'' folks can truly say that Warframe is done.

would of prefered hearing about a Warframe 2 possibly 2 years from now then this crap, those characters on the website look like they came out of a cereal box or were thought out by meth heads, that and the title keystone being a shooter game totally does nothing good for it. Idk something about the game and those characters spell out a game to me for a younger audience who wants to play with characters that look like rubber/plastic toys (action figures) and a kids card like trading game, they could of done a better job presenting the game.

Why would a perpetually developed game be followed up by a ''Warframe 2''? This isn't Destiny or Call of Duty were talking about. Games like Warframe don't typically get traditional sequels.

Never said they would, I just said I would of prefered hearing that rather then this crap as it would at least have me intrigued!! rather then thinking about a game that looks like they took Overwatch and made it for 8 year olds by making characters look like action figures and adding a deck like strategy trading game which is pretty much like Overwatch's Ripoff called Paladins.

Paladins, amusingly, also being a Hi-Rez studios game.

Yup and literally almost every champion or playable character is copied from Overwatch with slightly different visuals, only real difference imo to Paladins is that they added a deck strategy system to the game and it's slightly more fast pace since they added horses (mounts) to get into combat quicker.

Hopefully it will have balance unlike a tps+card game nearby.

A f2p pve game with a lot of accretion and microtransaction then a new pvp centric game with similar freemium model, this is kinda Déjà vu from cyberstep...

Having been burned by Global Agenda, that's a studio I just can't trust.

For my part I'll be interested to see the twists and turns this development brings to Warframe in a year or so.

Warframe has the potential to be a better IP than much of the stuff on the market if handled right... Not entirely sure who owns it now though.

I see this as a good thing, DE know how to make pvp games (unreal tournament was awesome) so it tickles me.

It means warframe reached a point of success and they can expand in other generes. Plus this time it's a pvp focused game as opposite of warframe.

This year tennocon will be interesting to attend to.

I don't think It will impact the development of warframe btw, they're expanding with they're formula, it will be interesting to peek how this play in the f2p world of pvp.

The most important thing is to separate the 2 communities, while the warframe community can stabilize itself because it's not competitive the other One going to gather people that are competitive in nature.

I hope they will use the experience they had until now and create a solid product.

But hey, they Need to make publicity better this time.

Agreed, that's pretty much what I indicated for myself also earlier, I was an avid Global Agenda player back in the day and was very, very frustrated when Hi-Rez just up and dropped it. I've not played any of their titles since.

I'll put the next bit in spoiler as it's not immediately relevant..

Spoiler

And it's not even that they stopped Global Agenda development that burned me, but the way they went about it. Not a conclusive, official word was said between that last big update, the halloween event not long after, and months later when it finally became apparent that Hi-Rez really had dropped any and all support of the game. They did the same again to Tribes Ascend when they started parading around with SMITE.

It's the kind of stuff that has made me a lot more cynical on things such as that, because it has showed that no matter how much game developers speak of passion and their drive to give the players something they'll love.. when the chips are down, plenty of them will do a 180 when aforementioned things come at the cost of profit. Or if indeed, despite a game not performing too terribly, another game simply outperforms it financially.

Tribes Ascend wasn't dropped because it was oh so terrible a game, it was dropped because SMITE was just doing that much better financially with the MOBA craze in it's infant days of 2012. Even I will admit that most likely Hi-Rez has simply made sound financial decisions, but they made themselves into a bunch of $&*^s with dollar signs for eyes to me.

Now, to bring it back around to what is relevant, DE is off course a very different company than Hi-Rez Studios. I can't say whether this Keystone thing hitting on big time will be to Warframe's detriment, or if DE would do what aforementioned studio has made a reputation out of doing.

While there may be a mention or a news tidbit on Keystone, I don't think a Warframe event/con is going to revolve around anything other then Warframe itself.

From what I remember you only get your reference key once you have activated via the email..

So I would presume it's just new site issues.
