Riven Mod: Destroy Dargyns

I just got this veiled Melee Riven Mod and I already have a major problem with it. The requirements are, "Destroy 19 Dargyns using a bow in one day". The problem is, I can't find a single Dargyn, period. I have destroyed several manned Dargyns, but that does nothing for the Riven. With the current setup for Dargyns, I probably wouldn't even find three or four before the day ends, let alone 19. I can't help but see this Riven Mod to actually be impossible to complete until something is done.

p.s. - I don't know if this would be considered "Mission" feedback, but I thought it would work regardless.

I'm going to assume "in one day" means the same as it does for other non Plains Riven challenges, meaning in one login period of Warframe and not the hundred minute day cycle of the Plains.

As for Dargyn spawns, I've actually been encountering a lot of them lately. I noticed most, if not all of them are stationed close to bodies of water. Not Wisp level close, but somewhat near.

get Iztal, find Dargyns, immediately use penumbra, headshot both drivers (they can walk apart) and take your time attacking the dargyn.

I've had two of these. Here's what I've learned about this challenge in the current state of the game:

* Destroying parked Dargyns does not count

* Destroying Dargyns that were previously parked and then piloted by NPCs doesn't count.

 

The only thing that counts is destroying Dargyns that spawn in already mounted. You can find one or two here and there, but if you need to bang it out in a day, the best way is to solo a drone mission in an incursion/bounty. Once you hack the drone, get 50-100 feet in front of it (toward the extraction point), pick off enemies that spawn near you, and wait for the pilots to come in -- you'll get one every couple of minutes. It's tedious and stupid, and shooting twenty of them took me half an hour. Good luck.

For what it's worth, I don't think the challenge is working as intended... There have been a few Dargyn-related items in recent hotfixes, and I bet more will be addressed in the near future.

After raging over and finally completing the first one, I swore if I got another one like it, I'd just wait until things inevitably change. But then I was too impatient to find out what the riven was and slogged through it anyway. :p

on my first try, i went into the plains during night. i don't know if it was a bug, but when i pressed ESC twice (to get the riven challenge to appear at the bottom of the screen) it didn't show at all, as though the riven challenge wasn't active at the time.

Been trying to get this done, and with the most recent hotfix, 22.13.1, they claimed they fixed this bug, but I just shot down two dargyns (the ones that you find, I just intentionally lost the "race"), I already had 3 destroyed before I shot these ones down, and got no progress for it. Also, as a heads up, you usually find them around bodies of water. Not as close as cetus wisps, but usually if you just go around the perimeter, you can hear them pretty easily.

I have discovered how to do this Riven Challenge. Two things are required. First, it must be during daylight. Lastly, you will only make progress when you destroy the Blue Dargyns that spawn in from the sky. Destroying Tusk Dargyns, the brown ones that spawn on the ground with their pilots not occupying them, will not progress the mission (regardless of letting the pilots get in them or not). They only way I can think of doing this is either run around the Plains alone and hope they spawn or do missions where they'll have a higher chance of spawning.

to solve those tasks "Kill x Dargyns with whatever..." you just have to go to the Kuva Fortress Assault mission on Koro.

There you will find around 6 - 8 Dargyns per mission. Those Dargyns are easy to kill and they will count for those Riven tasks.

Every other Dargyns i found in this game did not count regardless how or in which way i killed them.

If you do it on the plains, it seems to me (this may just be anecdotal, but anyway) that if you noodle around in Archwing it tends to prompt spawns of airborne dargyns more frequently. Ships chase you, dargyns show up, etc. Still, in a single day cycle that's a lot of dargyns to find. CpT-LaZeR's suggestion seems to be the surefire fix.

Confirming that Grounded Dargyn's that then are boarded by their pilots and fly around shooting do NOT increment the Riven count.

Actually, they do. But you have to make them forget about you and then proceed to kill them. Worked for me (using a Loki at the time).

If anyone is having trouble with this riven use loki and do the assualt on the kuva fortress, 5 or 6 dargyns will attack you when you destroy the door. Kill them, quit, repeat.

You guys seem to forget about one more horrible challenge involving dargyns.

The one where you have to destroy X dargyns and then kill the pilots, during an air glide.

During air-glide, the "aim speed" is changed and doesnt allow for fast tracking of the pilot, nonetheless, I manage to get around this and have a powerful hitscan weapon stable enough to oneshot the dargyn, then oneshot the pilot... except, Either it doesn't count (and it IS some of those airborne dargyns, not grounded ones, that I simply never found anywhere after an hour long search of the plains) OR the pilot is subject to some incredible acceleration propeling him so fast toward the ground that he actually DIES ON IMPACT, not even letting you have a shot at it...

I used to snipe those dargyn+pilots a lot before the latest updates to the plains, as it was somehow pleasing to get rid of them, being so numerous and a PITA when fishing or mining, but now they hardly ever appear, even when going for an hour in the plains, you meet like 4 of them, and only because you're abusing the spawn mechanics of drone escort incursions...

Now you have :

• lesser spawns,
• some dargyns apparently don't count at all for those challenges, 
• pilots dead at the same time you destroy the dargyn
• pilots propelled toward the ground at Mach 5, dying on impact.

Remember also that half of them have frontal shields, implying some limitations when trying to get them (you can't "face them", you're forced to get them in the back, which make it a little harder considering the huge turn radius).

TL;DR : some of the new plains challenges are badly designed, it should be interesting and a trial for skill, not something boring and taking hours even with skill, just because of some part of the challenge relying on something too specific.

"Winning an interception in solo above level 30" means being able to defend most of the time 3 of the 4 capture points, so you take one long range weapon,another that has a nice dps at close/medium range, a few specters, and use some brain to figure out where you should stand to have the best defense of those points. (~= skill)

This new challenge rely heavily on chance and the hope that the dargyn pilots don't just suicide to make you fail one of the too rare encounter...

I can confirm for now the Kuva fortress is the easiest to do. Loki and go to door then make enemy come - they then spawn left and right of the door (high in the sky) - once you kill 6 (sometimes less) just quit, rinse and repeat. Did the challenge in around couple minutes for each of the 3-5 missions.

Compared to other mod challenges this is the easiest I've done so far.

Remember it's without status effects. So just one hit from a soldier with cold or electrical from a blast etc will null the challenge again.

I had that riven challenge: kill 4 Dargyn pilots before they hit the ground, while aim-gliding. There are zero frames whose abilities (besides Zephyr's long hang time) help in this specific challenge. You can't cheese it by lifting them with Rhino stomp -- they have to actually be in their Dargyn, flying around, and then falling from the destroyed machine. The pilots take no damage (even from AOE) before they're free from the dargyn, too (even Saryn spores seemed to transfer damage to the Dargyn itself once they mounted it). Plus, the pilots fall like they were shot out of a cannon at the ground. It's basically spray-and-pray.

It took me something like 30 dargyns and several exits to Cetus and re-entries to finish the riven.

Just run to the first door and protect. There will spawn like 6 or 7 dargyns. Kill them and abort the mission (The kills still count for the riven) and go back again.
