You can't see from this angle but there is a loading port directly in front of the grip, like where you would load a pump action shotgun. The sighting system uses Orokin space-magic. Light is bent from the ring around the muzzle, through the ring over the forearm, then into the ballistic computer/optical compositor (mostly hidden under the shroud), and then finally out to the viewing ring at the normal place for a scope eyepiece. The Orokin in general seemed to love flowers and have lots of things that look kind of like petals in their architecture. So I added the obvious one which is the side of the forearm, and then the entire rifle is flower-like and opens up with petals and stamen.
