Livestream #16 Summary!

Livestream #16 starts with the usual Introductions of Steve, Scott, Geoff, Sheldon and Rebecca.

They waste no time getting into the questions..

 

Codex

Rebecca: “Drogra asks: Where are our drop tables?  We don't need exact %, but knowing that from a T3 Exterminate, X, Y and Z are common, A, B and C are uncommon, and L, M and N are Rare would be a step in the right direction with the whole data mining issue.”

Steve: “We are making a codex for this issue. The Codex is filled up by taking Data Samples which is going to be a new item in your gear menu. It’s a hybrid of shooting a sample dart/ BioShock Camera. You take a certain number of samples of each enemy type and it will gradually reveal the information that you’re looking for. When you have enough samples of each enemy type, you’ll have enough information about what it drops and its rarities.”

“This is also applied to mission types. How that will work is every mission type will have a mainframe or an object. So if it was a reactor, you could fire your scanner at the reactor and you can get information about drop related to that mission type. You need some exposure to the item to obtain information.”

“It will definitely be done by Update 11, maybe even sooner.”

 

Armor 2.0

Rebecca: “LXLawliet asks: The Design Council had a sneak peek of Armor 2.0, made by Steve. Could he perhaps explain it in more detail?”

Steve: “If you have a kick-ass armor ignoring weapon, that weapon is going to less effective against meat bags and against highly shielded enemies, but that reorganization is going to make for more diverse builds.”

“Regarding Rainbow builds, very simply some elements will cancel each other out. You put Heat and Cold together and will actually create a new elemental type that’s called Blast right now. It’s a choice, yeah put those 2 on and create a new damage type that has Stun Aoe and some interesting effects but if you’re looking for a heat build, then don’t put a cold in.”

 

New Berserker Warframe

Rebecca: “Silverbones asks if we can see any art for it!”

Scott: “Basically I think she’s a non-caster, female berserker, in your face, cut your head off type of enemy. She will definitely be more physical in her attacks and abilities.”

 

Mission Reworks

Rebecca: “Gekker asks: All I want to talk about right now are the upcoming mission reworks and in what way you guys want to make sure that players are motivated to play different missions over a long period of time.”

Scott: “We want the missions to be more involved. There not A to B. Depending on the state of the mission will force different spawning and pacing on the player will which hopefully bring that action of lots of things to kill and get. We’re exploring options.”

 

Match Making Issues

Rebecca: “DancingKnight had a long heartfelt and mature post about the situation and how it affects his coop experience. What is your plan for making Match Making with keys smoother?”

Scott: “In general I think we need to make the hosting situation better, we’ve talked about a few solutions. We’re definitely looking at that. Cross my fingers we’ll have a good solution for Update 11 where people will be able to use their key and not have to host.”

Melee System

Geoff: “We put some work into the melee system! It started out as a way to expand on Charge Attacks and allowing players to change those, but when we had that working we found it put an even bigger gap your normal melee attacks; was making regular melee useless. But these are going to open up avenues for us to explore more combo systems.”

Rebecca: “Nekrojiji aks: Will the melee weapon choreography be changed so that we can better control the charged attacks to cut close hovering or crawling foes?”

Steve: “Charged attacks are known as the only game in town, and the combo system is going to solve that.”

 

Vote Kick System

Rebecca: “Elliard asks: People have been crying for a vote-kick system of some sort to deal with grievers and trolls and I'm sure you're all aware that this can be abused. Are there any plans to at least implement a matchmaking blacklist as a preventive feature?”

Steve: “We’re going to try a carrot before we try the stick. This is the Reputation system that will be rolling out. If you play with someone in a match and you think they’re a good person to play with you can give them a positive reputation score. As far as I know it’s done and ready to go, so we’ll be rolling it out very soon. “

 

Priorities

Rebecca: “AbsolutTalent had a mega list of questions. One being: What is your priority list right now? What is #1-#10?”

Geoff: “We have the lore stuff that we’re working on, the melee system; Sargas Ruk is getting a lot of animations.”

Sheldon: “Trading is the big one I’m working with people on right now and 10 pack blueprints that I’m working on.”

Scott: “Finalizing the design for the Berserker, Corpus mobile defense got some love, Warframe rework, and damage model.”

Steve: “I’m working on Codex and the damage model.”

Rebecca: “AVEOX asks: The log-in rewards sucks. Am I just unlucky or is RNG broken?”

Scott: “It’s definitely known. But in the pile of priorities it’s lower.”

 

Dojo

Rebecca: “Saavdro asks: Dojo Grid systems, elevators unchanged, what is happening with dojo moving forward?”

Scott: “Trading will be tied to your Clan Dojo. The Clan will build an object or kiosk in their Dojo, (in the future) anyone from the clan can invite someone to the Dojo and trade.”

Rebecca: “How does this solve the problem of want-to-buy, want-to-sell in region chat?”

Sheldon: “There is going to be a chat channel.”

 

Player base & Content

Rebecca: “Gnakignaaak asks: Any word on other ways to involve the Playerbase in making content for Warframe? How?”

Power Weapons

Rebecca: “Thelonious had a post which mentioned the word Power Creep.”

Scott: “There have definitely been some powerful weapons released lately, the Galatine and the Soma for sure. The intention with the soma at least is to move its requirement level up. It’s definitely an issue. The Ballistica is a viable weapon but it’s not off the charts.

 

Mods Slots/Polarization

Rebecca: “Kinperor asks: Forma was a pretty significant game changer as it was included: will we ever see any further way to influence and modify our weapons? There is a lot of talk for a way to get either more mod slots, permanent attachment of mod to a weapon, super-forma, super-polarities, etc etc.”

Scott: “This is an on-going argument. I think we’ve come up with a simple elegant solution that we might roll with. We want to come to a better decision before we make a promise.”

Steve: “I think more mod slots are in the cards but I don’t want to do that until the new damage model goes out. The Damage model is going to change the number of elemental mods people are going to want to put on at one time.”

Scott: “Some people argue that there is 1 build for Warframes and it consumes all the mods slots and doesn’t leave room for the ‘niche’ mods. We will be finding a way to add more mod slots for Warframes.”

 

Fixing Tutorials/ New User Experience

Rebecca: “Anatolius asks: Will there still be construction on fixing the tutorial and advanced mechanics and maneuvers in the game in order to provide clarity?”

Scott: “That is being worked on that, it address some of the mobility teaching problems. We’ve had meeting about new user experience and how players need to know more about these systems before they advance in the game.”

 

Strict Nat/ Net Code

Steve: “What’s happening right now is Network Band Width Optimization because that’s going to hit the most amounts of players we have. We have been arguing about technical options to solve the Strict Nat problems.”

 

Stealth

Scott: “The problem with stealth is the lack of rewards. Obviously it can be made better; we can do more animation and more AI to support the play style. But it is a viable play style now, but it’s just not worth your time reward wise.”

 

Upcoming Event

Scott: “We’re bringing conflict to the Star chart. The Grineer have decided they want a piece of the Corpus action. So it’s time to pick a side. Basically the Tenno are to the keep balance/power in the universe. This is one of the cooler events we’ve ever done.”

Scott: “We’re getting a large amount of weapons and it’s becoming overwhelming. Some of it s to remove the weapons that are copies or similar, weapons that aren’t very popular, and art team saying that this weapon feels like it no longer fits. Some of them might just come back.”

Steve: “The first thing that’s going to go in the Wardex is going to be all of the systemic stuff with taking the data samples and learning about the game. This is going to address a lot of our veteran concerns and taking it further with the narrative. I know Darvo has a little story.”

Scott: “Daniel who does Ai/animation in his spare time he’s been picking away at it. We don’t want the grappling hook to take over wall running in the game. It has to compliment the wall running and lore instead of replacing it.”

Scott: “The reason why we addressed that so quickly is because those mods give out a big significant positive aspect with no downside. It’s not the same as putting a stun mod on a weapon that has no stun. It still needs a little bit of tuning.”

That war event and Grineer shipping yard concept art were the highlights for me. I'm glad we got to see some real look at the codex we've been hearing about. I hope it will quell the temper of those furious about drop tables.

It was a sweet livestream! Now I really can't wait for U11.

 

The next event looks and awesome and I am really looking forward to next Wednesday. In the meanwhile, I think I'll decide if I like fighting alongside the Corpus or the Grineer.

Amazing Live stream guys. Love the swap to Friday; something great to end the week on before a weekend of Warframe.

 

It generally felt much more laid back and also not so restricted on time. The beers were also a nice touch. 

 

Want to give us an option to buy your beers for the next time? Love to buy you guys a drink for all the outstanding work you have done so far and another for all the coming features in the future.
