GhostLacuna
This is not a rant thread. I would actually love to hear the design reason behind the convergence orbs. Because as of right now the only reason i can see them having made it into the game was to force players to move around from time to time. What is the though behind having such a system in a game like warframe?
shyguyk
So they dont go to an interception map and spam some move like a robot to farm focus
Dahx11
I guess it makes concentrating on focus optional. Like for those who don't care about focus can just speed passed it and forget about it

Shockwave-
I want to know why it chooses one play to appear near even if they are across the map from me in a survival or doign another spy vault. That's the most annoying part of convergence - that we don't each get our own.

As to the OP: They were essentially added to curb the heavy nerf default focus gains got due to the speed at which the rate dedicated farmers were gathering focus points at. So essentially the convergence let you get close to the gains you could get previously but only if you went out of your way to collect the convergence orb. Sadly the end result ended up only significantly slowing down those that didn't heavily farm focus points to begin with. MobyTheDuck
IIRC, they nerfed the Focus gain a LOT when they increased the daily cap, but then added these Convergence things so you could get slightly more focus than you used to. Basically, it was part of DE's 'every buff/rework must come with 2 nerfs' policy.

That golden orb spawns next to one person but does so for everyone it seems. Who benefits from this? Groups which huddle up somewhere and spam stuff and/or small maps like Def/Int. Who loses? People who move around the map and/or separate from each other. Aka, well, actually play the game. All in all, I always thought that covergence was a bad design choice. TaylorsContraction
I've asked that whenever one player picks up the orb it should count towards everyone as having been picked up.

Before convergence orbs you only gained focus if you were the one doing the killing. Which meant that either you focus farmed solo, or got salty and threw fits in group chat because other people were "kill stealing" and not letting you get any focus. DE decided to agree with the majority of player and allow you to get focus gains from shared affinity, but they lowered the rate that you could get focus because now it was quite a bit easier to get it. A short while after that they added convergence so you could get back to the old levels if you went out of your way for it.
shyguyk
i never said it was a solution, im just saying that was the intent
