Automatic crossbows are cool and all, but we really need a proper heavy crossbow

Not one that reloads with a magazine, or fires a lot of bolts, or anything like that. Just a classic ballista-style crossbow. As in, big as hell, and fires a single giant bolt. Similar to a bow, but closer to a sniper rifle, with greater projectile speed and a big impact that doesn't require charging up, but a longer reload time.

DE pls. Give me my giant bolt thrower. It gives me life.

Now that you mention it, it is odd there isn't a sort of "inverse draw" crossbow. The main point of the original crossbow is to have a single shot ready at all times. With futuristic Tenno tech, it'd make sense to adapt the ballista model into a weapon that trades draw/charge time into an extended reload time.

So like a sniper caliber crossbow?

I can dig it, make it fire arrows that could be mistaken for lampposts that have massive punch through and give it solid damage and it would be neat.

It's not exactly what it sounds like you're looking for, but have you tried the Nagantaka?

I'm all in on a big ol' crossbow though.

I have. I'd put it in the same category as the Attica or the Zhuge. Basically a gun crossbow, not like a heavy bolt thrower.

I have always wondered why we don't have a crossbow that is more sniper like in feel.

I think it would be very nice to have that variety within the archetype that is crossbows.

Or going the other way around, a Sniper that was modeled after a crossbow is another thing I've seen suggested I'd be into.

This made me think of a modern compound crossbow with a scope attached to it.

More specifically, I think of the Sub-1 crossbow made by Mission Crossbows. Extreme accuracy at a distance and loosed bolts sport a high flight velocity.
