Difficult Warframes

Question

Why are some warframes, like Rhino, so easy to obtain when some, like say, Grendel, require you to:

Have every node in the star system unlocked

Be sided with a specific faction 

And farm (from my POV) difficult missions, when there are other frames that require less effort and farming?

This. Grendel is the perfect example, many people will attempt it and fail thus becoming frustrated and may end up buying it from the marketplace which leads to plat being removed from circulation and therefore incentives platinum being purchased. 

Any system or decision by the Devs in regards to Warframe should always be looked at through a lens of "money making" this is a free to play after all. 

A healthy dose of cynicism does one well.

That's not the case at all, Syndicate stuff like Arbitrations / Quests doesn't care what Rank you are with them.

Gotta start somewhere. You get more and more of them available as you progress.

Would you rather all of them be easily farmable right away, or all locked behind a massive progression wall?

Also, Grendel was added during a content drought, while Rhino is one of the older frames.

Other than that, another reason for you to play Arbitrations, which helps to populate the game mode, so paying players have better matchmaking and more teammates to play with and it makes DE's statistics look better.

the first Warframes were generally found by beating bosses of planets.  but generally speaking, there aren't enough bosses to tie Warframes to as rewards.  what do do?

new Warframes are generally released alongside content, and often the Warframe is a reward for engaging with that content.  which totally makes sense.  play the new content, get the new shiny.  that's Warframe's bread and butter.

there are certainly a handful of Warframes that are tied to particularly difficult challenges, and i think it's reasonable to question and be critical of these design choices, but at the end of the day, your question is one about balance.  why aren't all Warframe acquisition methods balanced?

the simplest answer would be to just say it's because Warframe - by its developers own admission - is not balanced.

however, an equally fair question to ask would be: why would you expect all Warframes to be the same difficulty to acquire?
