"the Tenno Stand United Against A Common Foe."

Recommended Posts

 They stood united. Past tense.

United by the blanket amnesia and the guidance of the Lotus.

But that was never going to last forever. Time has passed. The Tenno have made plenty of choices. They've slowly built upon a sense of individuality again.

Who their friends are. What clan they want to hail from.

Even which of the two warring factions is the lesser evil in this endless system-wide civil war.

The Tenno, on an individual level, can even be said to have already been presented with the choice of whether Lotus' balance is important to them.

And so they split up. Section off. A lone tenno becomes a squad. A squad becomes a Clan. Clans become Alliances. Now the Tenno, organized by their own values, can see enemies even among their own kind. People with conflicting values or interests.

So they do what they do. Act like war machines.

Until the enemy threat forces us back together again.  Probably also for Loot...

Well we ARE still loyal to each other. We team up together, and such. And we make up our differences clan wise most of the time :3

Exactly! The tenno make their own choices, they are not bound to do one thing which is to follow the lotus united. Some may still do that, but we all decide what to do.

My Ash, for example, just fights for the thrill of it, and the thrill of looking badass and edgy, but still has the goal of ending the grineer and corpus's destruction and black market.

They are the true threat after all. The "balance" is in fact the perpetuation of the war. The Tenno fight to make sure neither side wins, thus ending the war. Tenno are war profiteers.

Tenno were essentially made for battle... outcasts first then made into killing machines.. what did Orokin expect would happen actually? It's not like Rhino is gonna retire and open a small bakery. We claim to uphold balance.. and I believe that, but balance in this sense means constant conflict. No side can win and there shall be no piece. And that's how Tenno like it imho.

I believe Lotus is a good character in this, but she's losing her grip on the Tenno.

I really like the mercenary/evil Tenno lore theory. I just wish DE ran with it... with shades of gray instead of good vs evil system. I'm sick of that kind of narrative already. Let us forge our own path and write lore to support it.

Eternal struggle... it doesn't matter what we fight for.. only thing that matters is the fight. Choose a side and fight, that is what you were born to do, that is the only thing you know how to do and that is the only thing you will keep doing. Kill.. kill with honor, but kill nevertheless.

Well, if you want to cultivate the most toxic and egocentric type of gameplay communities, sure, go right ahead.

Spoiler: We're witnessing the birth of it right now.

What you're saying here implies lore.  The current lack thereof in the game determined that was a lie.

And like clock work, with the signature silly slapping and flopping about - here come the flat tires!

Don't you dare be goofy or fun! Stop enjoying things! Everything is hooorrrible!

We're united when necessary. I think the Events do a good job of showing that no matter how often the Tenno butt heads, we still need to keep the other factions of the Solar System in check and we do it damn well - if you need a meta example of this, see the MMOBomb competition and megathread.

In the meantime, we've got reexpanding to do and lost memories to rediscover, plus we're individuals. Of course we'll argue and fight each other, but these are less hostile conflicts than some of the bigger things we deal with, like Gradvius and Valkyr.

Im pretty sure that the tenno specters we meet on the solar rails are some king of..... construct. If you look at them they have this weird blue hue around them. I also think that Tenno who fight for control of the solar rail consider it more of a sport than actual war. We are probaly still very united with or without the Lotus but we can compete with each other.
