we cant have a lighsabre because it would be copyright infringement... and besides.. the plasma sword is close enough, and pretty decent if you mod it right.

Then make is a lightsword. Are lightswords still copyrighted? If so, then make it photon-beam-blade. Heck, a PHOTON EDGE™. This one is mine, DE has to pay me now.

Not entirely true. We could have a lightsaber-like weapon as long as if isn't a direct copy and doesn't have the same name. There are hundreds of lightsaber-like weapons through media and IIRC Star Wars isn't the first to come up with the concept of a energy sword melee weapon.

As for OP, a lightsaber-like weapon seems way out of Corpus character. It would make more sense as a Cephalon weapon that was adapted from a research tool by the Tenno.

I'm biased

OBEX best melee Weapon because Swag!!

(Even after GU13 Melee 2.0 removed 1,100 base Wall-Attacks and lowered attack-speed from 1.7 (or was it 1.3)to 1.0)*

New Charge attacks - on Sparring make it easy to land Finishers (Heel Drop & Fist Flurry)

Serro is just amazing especially if using Quick-melee (Viral + Electricity build is great quick-CC)

Lecta is decent

Machetes as a melee-weapon class need another look. Either new stance or improved Stance modifiers. (Even some stance combos having guaranteed Slash Procs would be nice!)

Just a guess, but I think the next Gun-blade might be Corpus based.

Sundering Weave does have a Slash Proc on its Hold combo. It's just only on the 7th hit in the combo. Yeah, 7 Machete slashes before you get to a guaranteed slash proc.

End of combo does not suffice ;-)

At least with Homing Fang or Stanceless : Single Daggers can spam Melee for Stacking Bleed Procs (Which is very useful if you spam-staxk Bleed and then have a way to grant 400% melee multiplier as DoT's applied by melee grow with Stealth/Unalerted multiplier and Increasing melee multiplier combo!)

If Machetes could inflict Bleed on Charge attacks, Quick-melee or closer to the start of the combo that would be ideal.

Granted 1/2 of the Machete weapons are not readily available to players

(Machete, Machete Wraith, Prova Vandal)

Players can still obtain Prova, Nami Solo, & Kama they could still use an additional Melee stance, hopefully one that changes the Quick-melee animation)

Much more than just machetes need another look.

Machete class shouldn't really exist, with how similar it is to longswords.

Same thing with the upcoming Rapier class, which is literally just a stance for longswords focused on stabbing.

The distinction between staves and polearms is also failing, since having two striking ends(Orthos) should qualify a weapon for a staff moveset, while a single one(Serro) should have a dedicated "spear" moveset that features exclusively moves for a single striking end weapon(no fancy twirls and spins, lots of wide swings and reaching thrusts).

Blade-Whips should have never become a thing, considering whips already take on the form of a single handed weapon when folded, and that aspect could have been leveraged through a stance, rather than a whole new weapon category that'll end up stealing the spotlight, or equally underdeveloped.

Fists and Sparring suffer from overlap that also pretty much invalidates their separation, especially that it's pretty much established that Warframes do not really need the addition of those weapons to punch and or kick the life out of enemies

The list goes on(including guns)...
