The Next Archwing Tileset Should Be... [Strawpoll Added]

Seriously.  Archwing needs some love, and a lot of that love will hopefully come in Starchart 3.0 with more archwing nodes, so there's some mission variety at all levels and factions.  However, the Corpus Ship and Grineer Asteroid Field will only be so fresh for so long.  More importantly, it would do the game some good to have Archwing paced appropriately, so that players that never really spent much time on Archwing aren't suddenly finding themselves submersed in the deep end of the pool on Uranus, if ya know what I mean.

So it's time to guide DE down the right path.  Which existing tileset do YOU think DE should incorporate Archwing into first for more inter Warframe-Archwing play?  Naturally, endless missions don't feature interplay, just the one's people tend to rush like exterminate, sabotage, etc.

Forget the noise about gun weight.  At some point, game play > practicality, or else the only on-world Archwing we'll see is in a body of water or otherwise the stratosphere at the lowest altitude.

So which tileset?

Eris Infested Ship

Corpus Arctic Outpost

Grineer Asteroid (Interiorish)

Grineer Galleon

Orokin Moon - 6 votes

Strawpoll!  Special thanks goes to NovusNova for creating it.  'Cause I can be a dolt.

Naturally, any brand new tilesets should come with the same interplay Uranus received.

I would like to be able to have some wide open expanses on the moon, where you could either walk over a large plain, or use one of the orokin spires littered everywhere to launch yourself into atmospheric archwing, where you could support your team mates on the ground with archwing fire, and vise versa.

Something Moon or Void related I want to see what DE would come up with if someone told them they had to create Orokin AW enemies

Orokin AW enemies would just be corrupted versions of already existing enemies, but yeah, Moon AW missions would be awesome, althoug I would fear sentient AW enemies.

I think large expanse play would better fit the endless modes.  Like Archwing and Archwing-Warframe defense would serve more like a hijack, escort a moving target across an expanse, powering it with shield energy.  Open expanses over planets would definitely allow for some new units like tanks, attack bikes/trikes, etc.  How Warframes would tackle heavy armor shall be up for debate.  Archwing weaponry will definitely be high enough caliber to punch through that armor though.

i feel like the best way to implement archwing into the planets would be through capture missions. Maybe your target hops on a flying vehicle, or it starts off that way but regardless, you have to fly through the level.

Escape tiles for all capture missions do involve some form of escape craft, usually into space/atmosphere.  Sometimes the game does pull a cheap one and spawns the capture target on this tile.  Going Archwing to pursue them might be a cool "second chance" so to speak.

cross fire in space and on ground.

giant ships looming from both corpus and grinner, explosions, giant lasers and gun fire from the capital ships. but you start inside a corpus/grinner ship to then exit into space making your way to the opposing side were the mission objective is. though once you the ship crashes to the planet as you burst out on the archwing before it crumbles in which you have to clear the area of enemies so your landing craft can pick you up

They need to make archwing missions, like on Uranus, interact with the regular game more often. There needs to be a purpose for archwing other than just -archwing.- as it stands archwing is a very small extra game that doesn't serve as a part of the whole e perience. You can do the vast majority of war frame, never touch archwing, and still be perfectly fine. Once they make it an essential part of the experience then it'll be more popular. However, if DE is fine with it as is then there's no reason to improve on it. Personally I hope for the former. If love more random jumping in and out of archwing. It could make for a much deeper game.

I was thinking something pretty similar, but using invasions as the game mode and based on sabotage instead of exterminate or a mix of both where we start pushing back the enemy forces on the grineer/corpus ship (depending on whose side we support) and after exterminating enemy advance squad (not so big or the mission might be too long) we jump on space, and head towards enemy ship which must be sabotaged on one of 2 ways:

a) fomorian core style, but with a smaller core which is destroyed during mission

b) normal sabotage but with 2 or 3 cores instead.

Or anything including some other mission elements, like rescue somebody and scort him back "home", steal data (spy/mobile def) and deliver it back to the corpus sergeant/grineer commander based, as always on who you're helping.

Same for infested outbreaks, keeping their current state where we can only help grineer or corpus to sabotage, rescue or retrieve data (even assassinate phorid or a new AW infested sub-boss)

I'm not a big fan of archwing, but imo, mixing archwing with other modes would give both, the game and the mode a second wind

I'd like europa with under-ice sharkwing tunnels and pools as part of the battlefield, corpus gas city also seems very appealing for a mixed tileset

I don't get it. Where does it matter near which planet you're playing archwing? You're in space anyway. The space near earth is the same as near phobos.

It's about incorporating archwing tiles INTO the existing warframe tiles, like how Uranus operates with caverns/facility and underwater caverns, if mostly on exterminate and very rarely on sabotage or capture.  So instead of flying in an asteroid field above Earth (wut?) a player is now flying above the mossy and forested ravines of Earth. For archwing purposes, we'd probably be fighting over a lake or raging river on Earth to further justify why we can't progress on foot.

The cool thing is that it shouldn't be impossible to continue to include standard Warframe enemy infantry in these Archwing tiles, which I think is part of Archwing's problem to begin with - in space, it's not quite as intimate to shoot a 3 pixel tall dude that just explodes on death as it is to shoot a normal sized scuba diver on Uranus and watch them writhe in agony before sinking.  Shrinking us down for the illusion of larger spaces and faster movement has probably done more to harm the enjoyment of Archwing than likewise, but I'm just hypothesising what issue people really have with Archwing.

Take a frost and freeze the river then! Or take ember and dry out the river. Everything is possible in nowadays technology. While your idea sounds cool on paper and maybe in practise, i highly doubt it's going to happen. We can get EVERYWHERE while on foot. Only need archwings to move in outer space and underwater.
