How can we make mastery rank of greater use?

Hey there,

The mastery system has a few things to it 
- trading per day
- loadout slots

What or how else could mastery be made of use?

Should mastery ranking have some sort of wanting to it?
Ie. A drive or something to make those to want to level their mastery rather than stay stagnant

by educating people on how important it actually is.

such as:

-traces maximum

-syndicate standing/day maximum

-riven mod & weapon limits

-available mod slots on a rank 0 item [the biggest and most important use that automatically justifies ranking up your mastery regardless]

No, people are already hurt enough as is about what mastery currently does. Honestly it does enough. Mastery is just a metric of how many items you have used and maxed out. Thats it, nothing more. People keep getting upset because they think its tied to skill which its not. If anything its also a metric of how much time you put into the game.

Those that grind mastery are either completionists, people looking for something to do, or are intrinsically driven to just get mastery.

System is fine as is and id hate to see the S#&$ storm arising from mastery ranks locking more people out of stuff. Game is grindy enough, please dont add anymore grind layers that dont need to exist.

What really needs to happen is DE needs to better inform people what the benefits of higher mastery is, it's already very beneficial to have a higher mastery rank.

Focus is a problem unto itself

Though, passive regen of hp and energy would be useful too as to be able to free up focus schools and aura slots

No, as other posters have already said, there are plenty of benefits to high mastery right now, we don't need more.

It wouldn't hurt to highlight the benefits of mastery to new players, though.

One thing we absolutely shouldn't have is mastery-based buffs that directly impact performance in missions, like energy or health regen, sprint speed, cast speed, etc.

Those would just make co-op play less welcoming for newer players and drive MR elitism.

If you really must have some additional incentive, then we could increase the riven cap based on MR, but honestly I'd rather DE just scrap the riven cap entirely.

Incentives are something well needed

High level weapons/mods can only do so much

Perhaps more interaction between (spoilers) and wf would be interesting

Maybe additional energy and hp regen or tweaking to stats would be nice

Maybe passive equilibrium or mods akin to give more utility or minor survival would be rad too

Anyhow, here are some of my idea. Don't bash me, please.

 

  • Mastery Rank ties foundry.
    • Increase the crafting quantity by 1 of the same item every 4 mastery rank starting MR12.
    • Example
      • MR12: 2 forma/potato/ciphers can be crafted simultaneously.
      • MR 16: 3 forma/potato/ciphers can be crafted simultaneously.

 

  • Mastery Rank ties to Riven Mods
    • Increase capacity to 30 at MR15.
    • Increase capacity to 45 at MR20.

 

  • Mastery Rank ties to Sortie
    • Increase the chance to roll a legendary core every 2 mastery ranks after MR12.

 

  • Mastery Rank ties to Affinity/Credit
    • Increase affinity/credit gain by 5% every 4 mastery rank after MR12.
      • MR12 - 5%
      • MR16 - 10%
      • MR20 - 15%
      • MR24 - 20% (in a few months!)

Also makes releveling far easier

The main benefit to high MR that's not been mentioned, is that you have a ton of max ranked frames and weapons to choose from to mix up your playstyle because you've ranked them all to gain that MR.

Even more so now that riven mods and riven disposition are a thing to make less used weapons more viable.

You don't have to 'work hard' to get high MR, you just need to put in a lot of hours.

Much better that you're playing the game to have fun playing the game, there are enough grind-based rewards in Warframe already.

(Full disclosure, I'm MR17 with 2.2k hours played.)

Why all the eh? Because in many cases all it's going to reward is campers maxing their MR.. for rewards.

MR shouldn't be about "rewards". Making life slightly easier? Yes
