Are we really ninjas?

We're not ninjas.

Right now, we're simply killers. We kill almost anything that moves, hoping that something useful comes out of corpses of our enemies.

We stopped being ninjas long ago. Maybe we never even truly were ninjas. But we've always been killers, and we're getting better and better at it.

Warframes slogan is, ninjas play free. So. Unless DE has a thing for ninjas I think we are Space ninjas.

That's hype to promote the game, it's not the games lore.

No, we aren't space ninjas, nowhere in the game are we referred to as space ninjas, not ever.

It's your warframe that does this. We don't know what exactly a warframe is (maybe we do control them, but there are many theories saying that the Warframes are other living beings that protect the Tenno, only if the Tenno want them to) so we first of all have to wait for more main quests...

The Orokin built the warframes, that's been said many, many times.

Titania's entire quest chain is about how she was built and who built her.

There have been many theories about many things in the game and, so far, most of them have been proven wrong. It's fine to let your imagination go but people really need to stop clinging to wild theories that go against everything in the game.

Warframe at it's essence is a combination of Ninja Gaiden games and Guyver with a sprinkling of some other ideas.  This was even mentioned directly in one of the Devstreams.  If you're familiar with the Guyver anime/manga, it's quite obvious.

With the exception of an elite few warframes, most of their kits and themes don't fit any of the ninja lore (mystical or realistic).   Ash, Ivara, Loki, Excalibur, and Banshee (when played solo) do fit when you account for technological advancements of the time period.  With the exception of some of the more fantastical abilities, some of the things they do are available today as military equipment.  Think Flashbangs, grappling hooks, infrared sensors, etc.

Almost all the other Warframes are either too flashy, noisy, or just don't fit ninja theme.  That's 5 out of 30 frames that even have some semblance of a traditional or mystical ninja theme.  Good thing they named the game Warframe.  It fits the more as representation of a "Guyver" game than ninja.  While the Tenno themselves have elements of Japanese lore and history.  Although very thin, a few similarities can be drawn between Tenno/Orokin and Hattori Hanzo's Iga/Tokugawa Shogunate.  That's a whole other can of worms there.

Just some of my thoughts on the topic.  :D

we are far more than mere Ninjas; we are the perfect Warrior. we are masters of all forms of martial combat, with extensive knowledge of firearms, explosives, stealth, underwater and space combat techniques, and we are blessed with incredible Void Powers as well. we are all of mankind's soldiers in one body.

we are weapons

we are Warframes

we are Tenno!

Like I said in a topic about a samurai Warframe:

"It says that "Ninjas play free", but at this rate, we might as well have a space samurai. We already have space fairies, space paladins, space animals, space magicians that have their reputation tarnished, space beserkers, space deities, space engineers, space cowgirls, space archers, space mummies, and space elementals."

The game was originally supposed to be space knights which makes more sense but some one with a 90's attitude must've pushed the whole ninja thing.

Does it actually say that we're ninjas anywhere?

Marketing mostly, for some reason they still market Warframe with ''Ninja's play free'', pretending like it actually still has meaning, yeah, okay, we have some Japanese inspired moves and stuff, but we can hardly be called ninja's.

Yes the Orokin built them. That's true. But we don't know how exactly the were built. Maybe they aren't just some machines? Maybe they have feelings?

This does also not explain why / how your warframe stood up and defended you from the Staker in TSW. The link was cut off. Technically, the warframe should not be able to do anything. Unless it's living, and not just a machine.

Corpses have spasms and move, a chicken can survive without it's head for a brief period.

The Warframe only breaks the sword, it doesn't do anything else. There is nothing in that action to suggest sentience.

We are perfect example of anime ninjas.

This is what I was gonna say.

I'm gonna assume DE is a fan of Naruto. We still assassinate, and sabotage, and sneak around. We are also super strong one-man genocide machines that move faster than humans and manipulate energy to use impossible skills.

Anime Ninja.
