Are Lua Spies still not in the sortie rotation if so can we get them back in please?

This comes from todays Sortie, from which I shall be obtaining because Defection.

Tho that reminded me how much people complained about Lua Spy and how much I enjoy it and why I haven't seen it in the rotations since it was ostensibly removed because of a bug on the PS4 which I can only assume has/was fixes ages ago.

Honestly I also wonder why. I'll be honest, those are the only spies I have a hard time at. But for lack of practice, since I can't be bothered to use them if I have no real reason. Unlike, for example, the new Jupiter spy. Or the Kuva Spy.

Seriously, what does Lua have to be so different from other spies? It's not like people doing sorties don't have Lua either since that location is unlocked before sorties. And difficulty/complexity is no excuse honestly, otherwise pretty much all other spies would be gone as well since there's always someone who can't do them...

I dunno about that...we've apparently had bugs in the game for years that were never fixed.

If I'm remembering correctly, I believe the Law of Retribution raid was eventually just removed from the game "temporarily" due to never ending bugs as well.

The difference between Raids and Lua was that Raids employed several non standard mechanics that proved to be problematic, mostly the fact that the P2P client was chugging trying to support 8 connections instead of the standard 4. Which caused all kinds of problems and required constant tweaking.

Not sure why Defection is in rotation, 90% of squads I play with don't know how the gamemode works.

Which is funny because they kept Conclave in the game still.

Honestly once you get Lua down, it's hands down the easiest spy in the whole game. It's the one Spy mission that I feel confident bringing literally any frame to.

Most peoples problem is that they see Vault A (well it's usually vault A) hammer at it for a while, can't figure it out, go get carried through Lua once and never look back.

Dont please they are just so complicated as tehy are much differnet from regulaar spies, you basically need to think in 2 worlds which is challenging but its frustarting, I honestly would just skip them or if i really wanna do them I have to watch youtube videos how to do them. I only did them a few times then I was done and never looked at them cause I dont like them, so make everyones lfie easier and lets just stick to regular spy which are simple and dont require a lot of thinking and time. But Im up for them being nigthwave challeneges like do all 3 vaults in a single mission would be good for nigthwave weekly but sortie noty

Pavlov isn't tough at all. Yes, there's the bloody Simon Says puzzle which makes me wanna alt+F4 every time I come across it and have to take the long way around it, but otherwise Lua Spy is just 3 parkour tests that you can get ace at in an afternoon.

Lucky enough to have Harrow, so I can solo defections easily, even if they're utter monotonous crap. Still, despite the added risk, I'd rather have Lua Spy replace defections, tbh. Especially given the Eris tileset defection which has horrible path-detection/collision interactions for the escort targets.

Well, according to those patch notes it sounds like it has issues supporting that as well. And the portal mechanics for Lua Spy are as non-standard as they come. When it comes to bug fixing a "simple" issue can actually be extremely difficult to fix, or difficult to find to fix in the first place. They probably just aren't the priority for DE at the moment given the scale of content they've moved in to since then.

Update 20.4

  • Removed Lua Spy missions from Sortie rotation due to extensive Client loading times on min spec machines. Please note that we are working to fix this and add Lua Spy missions back into the Sortie rotation.

Given that moving entities from point A to point B is the oldest of hat when it comes to videogames, I highly doubt that it was the portal mechanics that gave them any trouble.

Given that they dipped 32bit support fairly recently and bolstered the minimum requirements the rational for removing Lua seems to have been self correcting. Course before they dropped 32bit support there where still people (pretty sure to this day) who insist that they can't even load PoE yet PoE freeroam is still in rotation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's hilarious because Lua Spy uses an age-old mechanic in which "time travel" is just bandying the player's vertical coordinate between two parts of the map stacked one on top of the other, and given the size of the vault tiles themselves only I can see how that would present a problem for low-spec machines. You can see it in the "Simon Says" vault if it's the last one - the extraction symbol will hover above you and show a much lower distance after you go through a time-rift. Pavlov vaults are easily the most demanding tiles in the game because of that, and I don't think that there's any kind of workaround.

Well, if it's so simple self correcting, then best of luck to you in getting it back. It doesn't bother me either way.

Keep in mind that multiple issues can have a similar outcome, but that doesn't mean they all have the same solution. They also aren't all the same scale of issue. The vast majority of players have no issues with PoE and open-world is DE's new toy so it's more profitable to keep than to dump. The same can't be said about LoR since they said it was only a small population of players that ran raids and kept the support staff too busy. They've also said that pvp has an even smaller population but requires almost no support staff so they aren't losing anything by allowing it to stick aroun (I personally think that they keep it since all 6 of the pvp players in the game threatened suppuku if it was removed).
