This is a casual game - I have long since made peace with that. This isn't a game for the Dark Souls level of intensity. Of late, my own request for balance have been with that in mind - to improve it and truly embrace that. Effort does make the mind more sensitive to reward or loss - if the gameplay works on a 'buy the immense power through gameplay and some degree of skill' then I have no problems - the Kirby approach. Nobody's going to say you need to be an incredibly skilled gamer to succeed there, but it can help you get joy out of speedrunning, fighting bosses with unconventional abilities or just relaxing with Kirby's genuinely fun gameplay loop. If the game itself is fun, who gives a damn? But maybe using and abusing the means to automate it, turn off enemy aggro/ai or just be rendered immune to dying stops it being fun. Seriously, examining Kirby quickly shows that those things aren't just handed to the player. Immortality? Stone and metal, but your mobility is restricted. Nukes? Crash and Mike, but they can only be used once. Crowd control? Not really necessary as most enemies aren't aggressive to begin with, so they don't bother adding it.
