Last Gasp lowkey makes Quick Thinking obsolete

Recommended Posts

Just a note in general, for players that have finished the Second Dream (DON'T LOOK THESE UP UNTIL YOU'VE COMPLETED THE SECOND DREAM QUEST) and have unlocked Last Gasp, Quick Thinking just doesn't make much sense any more.

Now more than ever, there should be some updates applied to Quick Thinking to make it more decently usable. Fixing the known Stagger issue should be pursued immediately. Being stunlocked to death by AI is no fun, and quite arguably bad design. There should be an increasingly large cooldown on being able to be weakly or strongly staggered again in all circumstances, imo, and that includes the Quick Thinking stagger circumstance.

Spoiler

While under the effects of Quick Thinking (2 HP and losing energy instead), strong hits will cause the Warframe to stagger. Be wary, as repeated strong hits can effectively stun-lock you in place until you die. Weak hits will not induce this effect.

  • Mod TT 20px.png Pain Threshold drastically reduces the stagger duration, allowing one to avoid being stun-locked.

Since the synergy between it and Rage was patched out AGES ago, imo it'd also be worth reviewing if the efficiency could be raised, to help make it less obsolete in the face of Last Gasp.

Well, keep in mind that Quick Thinking was released during update 10, and The Second Dream was released on update 18 two years later.  While DE continues to waffle on how they stand on Power Creep, it's clear they didn't think it through as they often release new stuff and rarely (to never) make the necessary adjustments for the older.

This is a prime example of this.

Oh there's a million examples! I'm just bringing up this one because it's a brand new obsoleting that's occurring. I hope their supposed Mod Rework/Overhaul they implied they'd be doing will incorporate updates to obsoleted mods like this one.

On one hand, sure, Quick Thinking could probably be better. Buffs to that wouldn't hurt, I think. But on the other, not everyone has that waybound unlocked. It takes time and investment and Quick Thinking can be an effective stop-gap up to that point.

Granted, I'm not sure what DE's overall plan is. By the sounds of this thread, they want power to be relatively flat and option-filled. But then we get substantially stronger weapons and mods to increase the upper power level...? Like, are we supposed to be progressing in power, or unlocking new options?
