I can see them blocking my shots, if its explosive, it does its boom effect naturally they don't get knocked around or downed, since no friendly fire isn't this already exactly what you're describing? They don't cause any effect on hit, unlike getting hit by enemies where you see blue ripples to indicate damage to shield or red when you take health damage.
