Had this happen to me once. I can't remember enough to find a possible reason for that bug.

HOWEVER, I managed to still validate the mission, despite the vault not opening :

I hugged tightly the vault, and use transference. For a (very) brief instant, my tenno was half glitched into the wall of the vault, and it validated the mission. Haven't been able to reproduce it, as I haven't had that bug happen to me again. However, I'd recommend trying.

Because it seems to happen when you start doing bounties while players still connecting, resulting in host seeing 1 objective, while clients see 2 or more

As other players said Armored Vault does not open after defending it.

It is still possible to finish the bounty and get a reward. Leaving the highlighted area does play the Lotus mission failed message and shows it on screen. However, if you run around the map it's possible to find next objective. Bounty resumes like it's never been failed when entering the area next objective was supposed to be completed in (even though there are no markers or highlighted circles on the map). 

This allowed me and my squad finish the Bounty and get a reward.

 

Hope this helps to track down the bug.

This has happened twice during the runs of this particular Bounty on the Plains. Here are some things I notice that bug out before defending the Vault starts. 

1. Two Mission points that lead to the area of what must be done to proceed further. 

 first time.

Second time. this one had the two other Tenno finish up the other point only to no avail.

2. The Vault never opening. Area defended, Lotus instructed to loot.

Temporary Work around:
Equip the "handshake" emote to your top slot in your emotes commo-rose (emote wheel)

Use the emote with another player while you aim slightly inside the vault and they stand next to you.
This should teleport them in front of where you were aiming (inside the vault).
The vault will open or you will be able to proceed.

Another issue is that the vault opens but when players rush into the vault before it has completely opened, the objective will not complete and cannot be completed.

Don't have a recent log with the bug, but I believe I know the trigger.

When going to the plains for the first time (this session) and opening the vaults, then going back to Cetus and then returning to the Plains (Bounty, Free roam) then the resulting Armored Vaults bounty will bug out and not open when it is on any Vault previously opened. This can be reset by returning to the ship before going back to the plains.

Haven't checked since I always return to my ship after every excursion now, but this was happening with Drone Escorts when the mission takes place in the same area twice, and I hypothesize Caches and maybe Prisoners as well.

PS: These bugs were all experienced Solo, so it's not a Host/Client issue.

Look into operators and the interaction of them in the plain of eidolon. Ran into several issues cause host was in operator mode.

Look into the host migration. I have noticed once there is a host migration bounties either stop working or bug out completely.

Where do we submit the log? Support has always said they don't take bug reports.

While it's not the info you're looking for, I do have a slight suggestion for a workaround: Couldn't you make the mission complete upon the timer running out instead of requiring the vault to be entered? It's completely empty anyhow, there's not really any reason TO require players to step into it for half a second.

Though maybe the same problems would pop up.

the work around that i found was to go up to the vault, practically touching it, bullet jump to it at point blank, and while you're in bullet jump, go into operator mode. This for a split second forces the operator into the vault, completing the objective with the vault still closed. Worked for my clan mates and myself every time it bugs out.

Here are few things i noticed.

It usualy happens when i play with friend and i am hosting. When i use the datamass then it usualy bugs out. But when my friend use it (i am host he is client) it usualy works.

I dont remember this happening to me when playing solo.

I have a workaround idea: make it so that the task is completed after you've defended the vault, not when you enter it.

 Or, just make it like normal vault after Lotus done hacking (press "button" to open vault).
