  1. I don't disagree with you at all based on that blurb, but I personally started playing because of something really different, the video they made where the starter Warframes have a team battle with some Orokin Grineer. It made the game seem like a fast paced team game, which is.. Half true.. They have sent some really mixed messages about what this game is. It wasn't hammered into me at all until I started to notice how the MR system worked. I guess personally, I'm kind of averse to pointlessly collecting junk. This is maybe a mismanagement of expectations. Yes. Just like anything else in life too, some of them do this by trying to make people happy which makes them want to spend more, and others are purely predatory. Hello loot boxes and Diablo Immortal ^^; I think a lot of the time, the right thing does have a lot to do with what players want, because nobody stuck around to spend money in Anthem.. At the same time, Diablo Immortal exists which totally contradicts that. People wanted to chop up demons, not spend thousands, but it still succeeded (to me, sad) I don't think it's black and white for sure. It's still up to the players to determine whether or not the souls like is actually a successful product, they are the ones determining whether or not the expectations are correct.. But after thinking about it, yes, it is up to the developers to really create the initial vision. Both is really probably correct?
  2. No, it's not. Don't snip things up to break context. I freely recognize that they're welcome to make whatever they want.. It just doesn't mean that it will result in success. I'm not entitled to dictation of what a developer makes, but the life and death of their games is ultimately up to the expectations of buyers nonetheless.
  3. I don't really agree with it. We are the ones who have to buy or trade for platinum or click to add a game to the cart. A developer is welcome to make whatever they like, but when they make the wrong thing or don't meet the expectations of the player, it's their wallet that gets hit. It's our job to set largely unspoken expectations and the developers job to observe what's happening in the industry and try to create renditions that they think will meet those expectations. A developer can probably push already engaged players into adoption of an expectation, like with players increasing investment in gear they normally wouldn't care about (The Circuit), but you have to meet the player's initial expectations to onboard them in the first place. You can't really say "if I make a game about collectables, I'm going to get collectors" any more than you can say "If I make a Souls like, I'm going to get souls players".. Where are most of those souls likes now? Dead from not meeting expectations, which the players set. It's the developers job to manage the delivery, but not set it.
  4. I would like to move on from having new updates being basically made out of old star chart / staple mission types with minor twists. It's not that I don't like Narmer, actually I like the blasty face masks and mix of sentients, it's just that the last 3 updates have basically been all recycled game modes with small additions to them and this is really more recycled game modes with small additions to them.
  5. That's fair. It's a ruined alien world with a gloomy, desolate aesthetic so it just maybe doesn't look how you want it to. I kind of like it, although it's not the prettiest game out there. Personal tastes are fine ^^
  6. Wait, how can you say the game design sucks while also calling it good old school skill and not bad from a game perspective? I'm confused. Where does it go wrong for you?
  7. Truthfulness is lost when delivered in an abrasive fashion, people tend to not want to listen. It is for action games usually, but it obviously doesn't really work in Warframe forever! Special attacks can usually be dodged although there are some old holdouts that have terrible telegraphs. I think that the thing is that even if you converted all of the enemies to fire dodgeable projectiles, you'd still end up getting hit a lot in this game because it's also not structured like skill based games where you're given a chance. In Returnal, its possible to get hit from behind.. It's also your fault. It means you let something flank you. Otherwise, you can actually see when each enemy is going to attack and they don't do it all at once. It's still one of the hardest games to come out in years. How would you make a dodgeable system in a game with random hordes, then why would it matter when you have the ability to become invisible? Why would smart a.i. matter if I can vortex a crowd into a ball? The a.i. literally can't smart it's way around the things we can do anyways. They can barely balance weapons, let alone introduce new a.i., remove all of the gear cheese and introduce new gameplay mechanics like dodgeable projectiles instead of relying on number bloat that would make it possible to turn Warframe from a gear based game into a skill based game. Those things that never happened in Warframe will almost certainly never happen in Warframe? I'm really curious, I know you spend a lot of time railing against this game and how it has developed so like.. Is there any part of it still in place now that you actually do like? They're not going to remake this game into what you want when they can't even go back to remake stale old game modes. The game design from a skill based perspective is broken through to the core, is there something else you like about it at all though? I like to play this to surf around blasting stuff, make weird builds and things like that. It's kind of fun to just crush with a bubble gun that fires so fast I get complaints from console players lol. This is more like break time from games like Ori or Returnal that feature ninja gameplay action than it is real ninja action but it's okay. I feel like if you're really holding out for them to do those things though, you're probably better off playing something else while you wait.. I like to play games because I have to try and be smart all day and it is tiring. Have you tried Returnal yet? :)
  8. Merciless +max ammo was like a free ammo drum for those weapons, and the overall number of ammo boxes was reduced. I think it's the combination of the two that is creating these moments where I am running out of ammo on this kind of weapon. Sometimes it's not that I am technically running out of ammo? A lot of the time, ammo is dropping and I'm not technically using it up faster than it is coming back.. The problem is, it has dropped over at someone else's kill pile and the game isn't spawning more from the kills I am getting that I need to refill my weapon (I am guessing the "ammo box spawn limit" is reached or something?). Once in a while it's really aggravating to have to stop and go bounce around to find out where the ammo boxes have dropped. None will spawn where I'm fighting, then I go hunt in one room.. Nothing.. Another? I have max ammo again, I just had to find the hidden pile where all of the boxes decided to drop. Annoying. I wish they had figured out a way to create a noticeable difference and incentive to improve single target weapons by leaving them like they were before, with plentiful ammo. The really rapid spitting ones like the above run out of ammo a lot, because basically all weapons were nerfed by the reduction in boxes dropping and lowered maximum reserve instead of the ones they wanted to originally target. I agree, there's no real incentive to pick single target weapons over an AoE one when they both have ammo problems. They kind of shot the idea in the foot by doing all of the weapons instead of creating a distinction. I was kind of hoping for the revision to the changes they talked about, but it never came. I agree, I want the old high ammo pool back for weapons like these.
  9. This thread has like 3 concurrent unrelated discussions going in it now. I came for the Warfarm and stayed for the pixel counts! I feel like you are kind of rude with how you're writing to people on here on the one hand, but on the other hand this is completely true. Enemy accuracy increases as their levels increase and at some point it becomes unnaturally high. On top of that, as they increase in levels, the consequences of being grazed by a bullet that the game decided "hit you" after deducting accuracy from all of the moves you're doing changes from being a plink on your shields into a complete loss of that shield. Dodging really only gets you so far in Warframe because it's all based on fuzzy math instead of something you can actually truly dodge. Ironically, the only time that dodging works really well is when enemies are low to mid level and dodging is largely inconsequential ^^;
  10. Mm.. I mean, based upon the gameplay preview we got, yes it looks like that and I kind of agree? It's a super saturated market with tons of killer competition where even just being good means you might as well be nothing (that's the problem they had with The Amazing Eternals ~ too much competition for hero shooters, and even the good competition basically got eaten alive by Overwatch) If you aren't into it, that is perfectly okay to be. Personally I'm skeptical, but at the same time it was an early alpha gameplay preview (too soon, honestly?) ~ I want to see if they are doing anything else with it before I give up on it. Specifically, magic, ranged play, and the biggest thing I want to see is a boss that doesn't suck? If there's none of that, it won't interest me either but I'm going to wait for more info. Honestly though, the game they are publishing but not developing (Wayfinder) looks really neat.
  11. Since this has derailed into "Sony talk" I just have to say it: Returnal > Horizon (Not that Horizon is terrible) Fite me!! So like.. Are we getting more Soulframe previews at Tennocon? I want to know if it's melee and ranged or just melee..
  12. On some Warframes like Trinity who are starving for more duration, range or strength to make their whole kit feel good but there's normally not enough mod space? Yes. On Warframes where freeing up the arcane slot that might be taken by energize unlocks a lot more power, also yes.. On like.. Inaros, are you really going to notice Azure shards? Not really. The effects can vary wildly. My CC Titania builds basically doubled in damage output, Trinity feels nicer to play, other Warframes it's more like slapping on a bonus that's there but doesn't revolutionize anything. Amber is really good. Parkour velocity is normally hard to get a lot of, casting speed is as good or better than Natural Talent with only 2 shard slots and extra energy from orbs can easily replace Energize.
  13. I'm actually playing it right now, Some enemies are significantly faster and more aggressive than Warframe, it definitely has very high paced moments. The game's A.I. is a little bit disappointing though. Human enemies are especially dumb, which is kind of funny. How does every thread devolve into a Sony vs. battle now though? I thought this thread was about farming in Warframe ^^;
  14. Sampling is a pretty normal practice, with artists like Kid Koala and Wax Tailor even basing their music off of the reformation of composition into new elements (and it's awesome). How far do you have to go to cross the line from sampling to plagiarism? Jason Derulo's hit "Talk Dirty" actually features the entirety of the key saxophone riff from Hermetico which kind of shocked me for the first time I heard it. I basically thought "getting rich by ripping off Balkan Beat Box" but it came out that they actually bought the rights to use it and BBB got paid well for it so that's also okay. Basically that, without credit, would be kind of where I'd get upset. Hollow Knight has some amazing music, a few notes of inspiration is fine. Building upon the past and creating new interpretations is a natural part of music.
  15. Can Warframes themselves get corrupted or veiled? I'd like to have some wild surprises once in a while :)
  16. I would like to give a shout out to Kunai and Dual Toxocyst incarnon ~ they both have a lot more power but still have sort of a similar theme or feel as the originals when transformed and it's nice!
  17. It's not out of bounds to say that farming should be reasonable because I agree? I kind of think you're missing what my own interests are. I'm not really fond of constant grind in this game, I want to have fun. I'd like design that doesn't just openly encourage the cheese option as being the only option, or being so far above trying to play the content and enjoy it that you feel incredibly disincentivized to do it any other way. If I do a Steel Path Duviri drifter run on Lone Story with limited decrees, the game should be like "you rock here are some extra things because we know this takes longer than cheese-rolling normal mode over and over so let's help make up for that" and things that make having fun more attractive to choose. I'd like game modes that are fun enough to play on their own without just repeating them as fast as possible over and over in order to make up for skimpy rewards. Can you please direct me to where I can get a job as a paid actor by the way? I don't really need the money, but I kind of want a glimpse into how this all works.
  18. I get my paycheques from Big Diablo, coming to grind your gears! Once we take over, it'll be $500,000 to max one Warframe :)
  19. Amps with a touch of the void! Kitguns with a touch of the void! Everything the void touches is your Kingdom!
  20. Thank you for saving me from having to watch people laughing and having fun on a livestream in order to get the information I need to be maximally upset that the Yareli helmet didn't make it out in this round! It's fine, it will come eventually :)
  21. It depends on how many weapons you own. If you own a lot of weapons, getting rid of a few of them does make the chances higher for those items because your "unowned" pool is fairly small and you're substantially increasing the chances that weapon will be shown as an item to try vs. if it is sitting in your large "owned" pool. If you don't own a lot, selling items lowers the chances of seeing those items, because you're doing the opposite - removing them from the small "owned" pool and placing them into a large "unowned" pool. I am very frequently seeing these few items a lot like the OP is because they're a part of a small owned pool and I can't get them out of it and into the larger one. I'm also not worried about min maxing to the point where I want to get rid of them, so it's okay.
  22. "Assisting" new players by trailing them and taking their pearls is what happens ^^; It needs adjustments.. The dark secret is that if they don't fix it, that's going to be me stalking the weak in my hunger for pearls.. Those floofs are expensive. I have a malignant evil within, and I know it.. FIX THE KILL STEALING PLEASE. It should be Dog Days, not Dog Eat Dog Days.
  23. Flare can be stacked without even using the weapon, such as by Titania getting fire procs with Dex Pixia. It's a very high damage bonus that can be set up as a reliable backup! Like others have said too, it can also scale to full tilt in a split second on the right weapons without needing kills. Encumber can take your priming to next level. Honestly, with Galvanized Shot on a high status direct damage weapon, it can also let the weapon itself do way, way more damage than Merciless ever will. I think you're right that some of them really just feel like bloat, but there are some nice hidden gems.
  24. A lot of them use "Ferrite" which is a real world group of iron oxide ceramics.. It's weird to think about Ferrite as armor, because we use it for making magnets in the real world.. I wonder what it's mixed with? I bet it's Ostron tears and worm paste, gross! Very protective though. The other one is "alloy" which is like.. Seriously ambiguous.. Sometimes people refer to aluminum when they say alloy, but there are a lot of alloys ^^; I guess my question is, are we trying to take over the world, or destroy it? If you could get close enough to the leader of a nuclear power using Nyx, you could put everyone around them into confusion, take over their mind long enough to get a war started and basically get humans to destroy themselves? I don't have to worry about engaging any military at all if that goes okay.. Mm.. Getting off the planet or at least out of the first blast zones fast enough might be kind of sweaty though.. Wait, I guess that depends on whether Mind Control is really mind control or it just kind of makes your enemy like you more.. Taking over the planet I would try not to do alone.
  25. That's fair. I do really think they're getting better at telegraphing enemy attacks and that the A.I. is mercifully better than what got shown in the "hammer video".. The controls annoy me, and on steel path some of the bounties feel off tune. I don't like it that much, but I do respect that you do. Do you think there's a way they can balance the rewards structure so that you're able to enjoy the mode more often without feeling pushed to cheese it?
