0_The_F00l
70% of warframe is a reference or homage of sometjing, so sure, why not.
Stormandreas
The story was, Grendel was originally supposed to be an Oni frame. Instead, they went for the sumo troll type oni that is only depicted in a few small instances of ancient lore. The Oni's they did model him after, were depicted as being able to eat via their stomach, or something to that effect.
Drachnyn
That Boss from DMC5 is also inspired by something so imo the more reasonable thing would be that they are designed by a similar origin.

jmthebigman
Considering there are lots of these monster types. a more recent one in anime and game would be from pokemon.

God damn, Pokémon has changed over the years, I can only remember 150 of them.

Not a common pokemon, Ultra Beast. Not gonna do more spoilers considering in the english (dub) lots of the events still need to happen.
LSG501
I thought he was inspired by the Beowulf story (got this vague recollection of them saying it in devstream too).... the other games boss was likely inspired from it too.

Vesiga
Everything from video games are inspired by some mythical beast/monster/fantasy thing, so DMC isn't original in this type of thing since it's basically just different demons and monsters that have already been a thing before Edited October 30, 2019 by Vesiga
DeMonkey
1 hour ago, Firetempest said: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BellyMouth ^ As mentioned here, it's a fairly common trope in tv and dates back even before Televisions and gaming existed. "Xingtian (Chinese: 刑天; pinyin: Xíngtiān; "Opposing Heaven", also Hsing T'ien) is a Chinese deity who fights against the Supreme Divinity, not giving up even after the event of his decapitation. Losing the fight for supremacy, he was beheaded and his head buried in Changyang Mountain. Nevertheless, headless, with a shield in one hand and a battle axe in the other, he continues the fight, using his nipples as eyes and his bellybutton as a mouth." Copied the wiki page, ofc. Loza03
Yeah Dedede didn't always become swole when he got possessed. Sometimes he got hangry. (Although technically this isn't but... that's delving into Kirby lore)
