I can't speak to all but my thought process went like this.

I read every name thinking which of the choices sounded decent to me.

Then I googled the names I thought sounded interesting.  Voruna came up with the wiki as others have referenced.  And once I read the page I thought.

"That really fits how I would interpret the theme of this frame"

Vanagandra would be more feminine.

Well yes, Lupus is latin for Wolf. But it is also the name of a horrid autoimmune disease. In fact the disease is described as "erosive facial lesions that are reminiscent of a wolf's bite".

So while I can actually see DE using the term Lupus, I'd imagine they'd use it for some form of infested enemy and not a warframe. Or at least, the warframe would have to be Nidus-like, or have abilities revolving around disease for it to fit.
