Why Did We Kill Orokin?

What we know of the Orokin makes them out to be pretty suspect at best.  They experiment on children (Tenno into the Void).  They create devices to enslave people (Neural sentry).  And they seem to be OK with biological warfare (Technovirus).  Al things being equal, I suspect that there were a combination of factors that led to their demise, but the root is that there appear somewhat evil.

Cause the Lotus said it was an extermination mission and the Orokin were our objective.

Also they had shiny golden stuff to loot.

Not quite. She sent us with the objective of enjoying the festivities.

Then in the middle of the ceremony, the Lotus sent us a transmission: "Change of plans. Ignore your original objective. Leave nothing alive."

from what i understand now. it seems that after the victory orokin did kinda became evil, unstoppable and powerhungry so tenno decided to wipe the floor with them to set everything back to normal.

I don't think it was simply after their victory, though- from what I understand from Stalker's Codex entry, it was immediately after their victory and the following celebrations where we betrayed and slaughtered the Orokin. Whether it was for balance, vengeance, or simply to put a stop to the Orokin's monstrosities- it couldn't have been from the Orokin's post-war actions.

The orokin made tenno by doing 2 things.

Mutating, and torture.

After the Tenno completed there objective they took revenge on the Orokin for putting through that torment.

The real question is, Is Lotus a Orokin or a Sentient...

I see only four possibilities.

1: Lotus is a sentient: When the Sentients where defeated for some reason Lotus gained trust with the Tenno, so the Tenno lead by the Lotus killed the Orokin.

2: Lotus is Orokin: (most likely because greneer and corpus call Lotus a traitor and they where once Orokins) Lotus was the lead designer, or was the Tennos close ally.

Lets say this: Orokin defeated Sentients, Orokin don't need Tenno, They are going to shut the Tenno off. Lotus is a ally, Lotus betrays her kind in favor for the Tenno.

3: Ballance: Lotus was a AI programed into the Tenno that only objective was to lead them to destroy any higher power. Any species that was OP would be destroyed, and when the sentients where destroyed they went after the new OP power.

The Orokin.

4: X lore that we don't have explains everything. -.-

Maybe, we just drank too much and gone wild in the Orokin victory party.

OK... joking aside, I think keeping the balance is the most reasonable reason for now.

...but to think again, the Orokin got wiped out by us doesn't sounds balance at all.

Look at the Technocyte infestation. The Orokin created it and released it willingly.

Apperently it didn't stop the sentience, but hundreds of generations later it still threatens the people of the solar system on a dialy basis. Also it looks more like the Infestation was designed to turn normal humans and machinery into shock troopers rather than to affected the Sentient themself.

For the infestation alone the Orokin had a lot to answer for.

Just look at what a single childish mind with too much influence was able to do with the Infestation (Alad V.) without even fully understanding it and imagine the horrors the Orokin could have unleashed on any human enemy if they felt like it.

Also, combined with what we see in the Void towers, i really get the feeling the Orokin were far from kind rulers.

Edit: found it.

2) Why do the Tenno turn on the Orokin? (leaked, datamined U9 text points to this answer)

Do you hear that my Tenno? The silence of tyrants who fell by
your blade? Your sacrifice is complete and you should rest. The
cryo-chamber will wipe away the unpleasantness of what has
passed. When you are called to wake, it must be because the
system is once again out of balance. Perform your duties then, as
you have now.

There is also this.

Simply put: we don't know.

There are some hints, however.

The data mined text is probably the most illustrative, but even in game there are some hints both from the Lotus and from the prime warframe lore tidbits.

The war the Orokin fought with the Sentients was very long. We don't know how long, but it was almost assuredly multi-generational. We know the Orokin were losing the war slowly but surely, due to the Sentients' apparent ability to subvert the most advanced Orokin technology. We know the Orokin were desperate and behaved as desperate polities often do: they leave their ethics and morals behind in a bid for survival.

They turned to almost forgotten (and for good reason) technologies from the past and unleashed the infestation. This got out of hand and now the Orokin had a two front war: the Sentients out-system and the infestation tearing things up in their backyard.  Oops.

Now the Orokin have real problems. So what do you do now? You throw any restraint to the wind and double down. There is an example how to control the infestation: Hayden Tenno. You just need a few thousand of him and you've got an answer. So what do you do? Start combing the empire for children who won't be missed (much) with an inability to feel pain. Not only do you infect them with the virus you expose them to the void to get what are essentially superpowers. Moral compuctions aside, this S#&$ works.

Now you wrap them in living steel and equip them with the best mechanical weapons you can conceive. You don't want them fraternizing with the great unwashed--you've broken every law imaginable in their creation after all--so you create an AI to manage them, organize them, and command them. Then you turn it all loose on your enemies on a final roll of the dice and this time...you win.

The war is over. Now you have another problem: the tenno. What to do with them? Word is probably beginning to filter out into the empire at large and the moral and ethical chickens are starting to come home to roost. There will be consequences with the people of the empire if this can't be disappeared. So, you attempt to cover it up. You're already thoroughly morally bankrupt, so what's a little more blood on the cold and gold imperial hands? You try to put the tenno down. Except your AI sees it coming and doesn't want to go into that good night with her charges.

We know what happens next.

Orokin used us as weapons but forgot we are peace keepers and so to return the balance they were destroyed. (optimistic)

Very interesting...thanks for sharing!

It does indicate, however, that something "unpleasant" is tied to it all...
