Can we get a new sniper rifle?

Could go for a Vladof inspired one, high rate of fire with a lower damage per shot, like this idea for example:

Hum...it does less damage per bullet and the fact it use sniper amo.....you better hit those Shots.

It's not like DE added a lot of dual swords and didn't care that they are all the same 😛

But i had few ideas:

Cone of damage behind a first target. Like some kind of shrapnels.

Sniper rifle with high status and base explosive damage that when it procs explosive it deals it in aoe to all enemies. So like launcher but sniper rifle.

Or just take the idea above and put like fire or cold or lightning instead.

You could go like more infested direction and make it spawn something from corpse killed by it.

There is a lot of unexplored ideas that could work with slow firing weapons that sniper rifles are.

We've got Vulkar as the status/high capacity rifles. Vectis is the all-arounder with moderate stats but nothing outlying. Rubico is the critical focused low-capacity rifle. Lanka is charge based with projectile speed, but is elemental.

I could maybe see something of a mirror to Lanka with a charge rifle that uses physical damage as opposed to elemental damage, but that is essentially what Opticor is.

Edit: It is really about the 'gimmick' at this point because how else will you get players interested in obtaining the item in question? What will draw players in and make them go "Hmm that sounds interesting."

Of course some ideas can overlap with other weapons but still sniper rifles have their scopes so this would make them unique even with similar gimmicks and/or characteristic to other weapons.

Right now we have only one gimmicky sniper rifle. Lanka. Rest is just plain sniper rifles with different characteristic.

I think there is just a lot of space to work with. DE did similar thing with shotguns. They started releasing a lot of different very gimmicky shotguns, almost like testing different ideas.

How about a pure DoT themed sniper rifle? Like the one Ana has in Overwatch.

After the intial shot(small Puncture Dmg) the shot applies Dmg over time(Purely toxin DoT), when the target dies, it will leave a fog of gas that will apply sleep to nearby enemies.
Any elemental combo will be added to the initial puncture dmg and will not change the toxin DoT. The Toxin status will be always added as long as the target is not immune to status procs.
Also the toxin DoT will scale with Crits, Headshots and etc.

Same, i hope they don't turn it into just another easy to use low damage weapon, they already buffed the base variant's fire rate and nerfed its IPS.

A prime version with a scope, scope bonuses, combos and increased crit chance and crit damage with nothing else changed would be powerful and worth using, no need for more fire rate, we already have Rakta Cernos for that niche.

Mmmmhhhh a sniper that has a corrosive dart (or somthing) for secondary fire.

 

 

A sniper Who's projectile explode after hitting the target. 1 Meter or so further.

Projectile won't explode without impact, hitting a wall will result in the projectile exploding inside it.

Infested Sniper rifle that launches sharp quills that proc Viral on a critical hit. High status, regular crit; very high Slash. Should be projectile based with a respectable fire-rate

Headshot kills summon a cloud that deals a percent of the enemy's max health as Viral. Thoughts? :]

Burst continuous beam sniper.

Using 3(5) amo per burst and the main damage come from the 1(2) last amo of the burst.

The beam startup weak but the damage rampup fairly quickly because of beam innate damage reduction and the beam end burst is way stronger than in it's beginning.

A thing i just remembered, a rail gun and a real one so not like Lanka. One that actually throws a physical projectile with enough inertia so it causes explosions on impact.

Infested Status Sniper with innate gas dmg and very high base dmg. Headshots make the target explode into 2 maggots that crawl around for 12 seconds. Scoped in bonus increases headshot dmg.
