You all remember universal polarity?

Remember when Protea came out and it was this cool new thing she had called a universal polarity?

It's kinda funny how that just never got brought up ever again.

Even funnier considering de put it in the aura slot.

Maybe de will remember it existed when protea prime comes out?

What do you think about it? Should we get more frames with universal polarity? Should we get a super rare universal forma?

The name changed, but the forma for it still available and farmable:

As said above, you do realise that's just an Aura Forma right? What do you want them to do with it exactly?

Not OP, but I think it'd be pretty neat if you could get regular slots to have universal polarities. Maybe through an Uberforma, maybe through just being able to forma multiple polarities onto a single slot until it has every polarity.

DE is not going to add a system to the game that future-proofs your arsenal from future developments while also undermining Forma which is at the top of the food chain for consumables.

Nope, that was made before protea, universal polarity existed afterward.

I'm assuming you haven't actually used an Aura Forma before, otherwise you'd know that it applies the same exact polarity that Protea comes with by default. They just gave Protea an innate Aura Forma; they didn't add anything new.

Well, then we are doomed into "Build-Locking" our arsenals until DE change their minds. Do you want to know why player chase cookie cutter builds instead of trying out fun off-meta choice? This is the reason.

DE could allow just ONE universal polarity slot per Warframe to avoid undermining normal Forma.  A single universal polarity (that isn't the aura slot) would be a great QOL by itself.

They can put the new forma in rotation C Railjack Defense.

Builds usually last several updates spanning many months before needing adjustments.

People chase cookie-cutter builds for 2 main reasons:

  • Many people like to gravitate towards being the same or similar to others and copy builds with familiarity. This isn't a Warframe-specific situation. Social Media, clans, friends, etc. have people identify with a group and use the loadouts from that group for ease of use and popularity within the group.
  • Modding is often a math-problem. Math is definitive. Warframe builds have many freedoms, but weapons often don't and won't due to the nature of modding them [for killing].

Universal polarities only make things "better" in the perspective of players who just want to reduce the time needed to invest in weapons and future-proof themselves from having to revisit polarity choices. I really think the lack of universal Forma is overblown and would hardly influence how people mod things.

DE would never do that, modding & formas are a big part of the game, it would just completely negate your need to use them forever

All three special Forma types taught us that this idea sounds fine on paper until it eventually becomes more accessible and available as players complain about not having one on everything.

Aura Forma launched like this. Pretty rare (and expensive to craft) Forma from Arbitration that opened up the Aura slot changed into a relatively inexpensive Platinum purchase. This happened to Umbra Forma as well with more avenues added to earn it with reduced time gates (instead of just Nightwave), and handing them out periodically from Gifts of the Lotus. Stance Forma is not a valuable Forma type, but it was still made more accessible by being added to Teshin's shop for a measily amount of Steel Essence compared to time limited Operation currency.

Adding a Universal Forma would be fine with strict rules that keep it rare (on par or even more than Umbra Forma), expensive and/or limited.

They still advertised it as a universal polarity, not an aura polarity.

I would expect this from a universal forma. After all, if it was common then people would simply use that over the Umbral forma...

It'd also be pretty neat if players learned to progress and not shortcut everything.

Or because a bunch of people with 300 hours aren't expecting to actually have 1000 hours? It's a marathon, not a sprint.

If you actually play for awhile, doing things like having 30 forma and making two frames isn't a big deal. I have 4 Acceltras without actually intentionally farming for them, because I play the game naturally and things just fall in your lap.

Most of these people won't care about this in 6 months because they'll realize they never needed it.

But I totally get it, when you're new, you want everything fast and now.

Blame limited mod slots first. If you want to get anywhere near min-maxing, you can't afford room for off-meta mods. If you want something off-meta then the mod slots force you to make a trade-off. More mod slots would afford more room for that, and you also still wouldn't need universal forma for any of the slots.

Polarities is just another fake grind, trying to waste as much of your time as possible.

You already leveled up your frame, spent plat on a reactor.

Then on top of everything you have to lock your frames mod so you can't change builds around - being actual 'disruptive' gameplay.

Putting forma on should turn them universal, so you can mod freely, for all your resources and time spent.

No different than adding 5 forma to level kuva weapons, it's not about anything other than wasting as much of your time as possible.

There is no gameplay payout the benefits the player.

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

They remember that the universal polarity was applied to the aura slot.

They remember that grandma used to make homemade raisin bread loaded with plump raisins.

They remember every single time someone uses the laser to kill the defense operative in Void, and store those names in a little book (Not that they need help remembering)

Pepperidge Farm remembers ;_;
