What if Elemental ward and Vex armour was one ability

It would be incredibly overpowered. Right now, at least you have to keep an eye on your timers and energy. Merging them would turn it into a tank ability to end all tank abilities, with an insane damage boost to boot.

One of those should perhaps be a toggle.

I found Chroma's kit awful, personally.

The 1 and 4 are no good, the 2 and 3 are expensive (for a reason),
and can't be recast early.
It's like his whole kit is mired in jank in order to balance out his vex armor.


I'd be fine with it, but then they'd have to tone down Vex, and...
whew boy. The Eidolon runners are already at full screech this week.

Swap his 4 toggle, for a Vex toggle.
..if elemental was swapped for the 4's toggle, it would just be ignored.

And his 1, just... 300% better than what it is in all respects.

Only his 1st ability needs any changes IMO. His kit is just fine otherwise.

Even his 4, which a lot of people claim as useless, is really beneficial. Bonus credits, afk farm option and bonus CC. Meanwhile, his 2 and 3 are freaking amazing abilities that have huge scaling. Baffles my mind why anyone would want to buff them in some way. His 1 though... is completely useless without a single redeeming quality.

if we have 2 unused very bad skills, adding another skill wont help with it as these 2 will stay still vey bad, useless and new skill also wont be guaranteed to be good to use at all

why not just fix/rework already existing 2 skill instead still ignoring them while thinking about to add new unecessary skill? if idea for new skill would be great it could be also just swapped with existing bad skill or merged somehow to make existing skill interessing, usefull

3 can be recast early

But I agree with everything else: Chroma is a boring "monobuild". Contrast with frames like Banshee who you can mod for mindless CC, or for Sonar Resonance spam, or for gimmicky finisher damage; or Nova, who can be built for Max strength damage, or Speedva farming, or more recently for Augment mod tankiness. Chroma has one build: Max strength, fire for group healing and ice for everything else

Even if I'm basically always using both at the same time, the option to use less energy and upkeep only one of those abilities is good. Due to nature of chroma I would say we don't need those abilities to merge and especially not if it would meant a higher cost. What I would propose is buffing his 4 and remaking his 1 completely. Ability 1 and 4 are almost completely useless in my opinion so if you want more active abilities we first need to fix the two he already has.

Chromas run group healing?

Can't say I've ever met one that wasn't Ice for effect..
Except one guy who was lightning because it looked cooler.

You're the Chroma I wish I met more often.

I'm more used to the one that still needs to be picked up every time energy runs out,
while yelling at people for not running more meta.

Tox was my favorite of the Chroma functions, but I struggled to make it worth my time.
For what I got though, I found his energy costs made him a drag.
This was before Zenurik was a thing..
which I still think if a frame requires that to function, it's a crutch and a mistake.

Hope he gets some review soon enough.

Public plains might be co-op viable that way.

How would it be any more powerful than what it is now?

  • Now: Chroma has infinite energy (Rage) and pushes two buttons every minute for stupidly large buffs.
  • Then: Chroma has infinite energy (Rage) and pushes one button every minute for stupidly large buffs.

It is basically just a QoL change, I don't see how Chroma would be any more powerful. And getting another ability slot is just another good benefit.

 

But tbh Chroma has a lot more issues than just having two abilities that should be merged. In my mind he is still the worst designed Warframe by leagues and miles.

Something like changing into an actual dragon and burning everyone with a much more powerful breath weapon than his current 1 ability? Then we could get rid of this 1 ability and have a slot for new ability, something much more useful.

Even the largest mansion is awful if it has broken furniture.

Plus people don't want Chroma to change because they are addicted to him being a damage bot.

I agree that it would be a QoL change, however it could be tricky due to energy cost. I would say it can't get lowered when those would be merged and then it could look like a nerf actually since the upkeep costs are already really high and hard to deal with without extra help. However if the energy cost would be lowered, then chroma might become too easy to upkeep. It's already really powerful with little risk. Comparing this to mirage damage buff, she only gets one buff at the time, even if they are more powerful and cost less they still require great deal of positioning. Chroma can get both but his upkeep cost is extremely high. Seems like a balance decision to me.

To be honest if you look at the warframes as they are now, there are plenty of them that can only do one job really well and also only use up to 2 of their abilities.
