@Quaanit2 Just use what weapon you feel ok with, faster firing and punch through helps.

hirudo is a good melee for him because it heals you on crits. Other than that, there's no best weapon for him, so you can use strun and magnus prime because those are his prime signature weapons.

They are bundled with him.

The Nidus Collection is the only exception as the weapons included aren't known to be his "Signatures".

Notes

  • Signature Weapons are also available in the market as part of their respective Warframe's Collection bundle including said Warframe and all the weapons associated. However, do note that not all Warframes having a Signature Weapon have their own Collection bundle. The Nidus Collection is the only exception as the weapons included aren't known to be his "Signatures".
  • Unless stated otherwise, weapons featured in a Warframe's Leverian aren't known to be their "Signatures".
  • With the exception of  Euphona Prime,  Tekko Prime,  Pandero Prime,  Tenora Prime,  Astilla Prime,  Volnus Prime, and  Nagantaka Prime, Prime Weapons released with a Prime Warframe in Prime Access aren't known to be their "Signatures".
  • Exalted Weapons are not considered Signature Weapons.

He's not overly reliant on any specific weapons IMO. I personally use Astilla Prime (with viral+hunter munitions) on him and combine it with Teeming Virulence augment. Once the augment has been triggered it's slash procs everywhere.

AoE weapons (even small AoE) are indeed good because of the grouping of Larva.

punch through would have the same effect as aoe

Nidus likes the same meta guns as every other frame. You want one of the op AOE guns to kill everything clumped by your 2. You want the scaling melee mods to stack using your 2. The 2edary no idea Catchmoon maybe?

Just take w/e you want you’ll get frustrated with his play soon. He’s the only frame people go out of their way to troll and they do it a lot. I asked DE to fix this and make ally kills and your kills to give you stack points they gave us a 50% chance to get them with your 2… ya still being trolled.

^^It's indeed kinda weird playing Nidus: you gotta start little selfish first; basically separate yourself from the team and build your stacks in your own little corner. Once you have 50+ stacks it becomes easy enough to maintain with the combination of hitting the enemies with a strong Virulence and one-shotting them onto Larva.

playing nidus means mainly using your 1st and second abilities to build stacks, especially against tougher enemies but once you've got 15 or more (to activate his Undying passive: lethal damage makes you invulnerable for a few seconds and restores 50% health, at the cost of those stacks), you can then use guns more freely. then it's just a question of pulling in enemies with Larva and hitting them with something, something AoE would probably work best, but you can still get results by spraying and praying with an automatic weapon into larva as well.

since your enemeis can be held in place for a long time, you can use just about whatever you like. if you want to go with his infested theme, something like the Torid or Pox with toxic area damage can work quite well. same applies with melee, pretty much anything works so you can go with whatever looks/feels best to you.

Generally speaking, because of Nidus ability to group enemies together (with his ability called Larvae), he can bring out additional layers of usefulness in weapons, that may otherwise not be as strong. For example, single target weapons with a lot of punch through, multi shot, spread, and so on. That being said, weapons that are strong generally, will also benefit from this too.

It also depends a little bit on your play style. You may not want to Larvae every enemy, in order to kill it. Also, if you just started playing recently, then, there are hundreds of weapons yet to try, MR ranks you have to be aware of, different game modes, enemy levels.... Which can be overwhelming, but also gives you a lot of room to grow into your own play style and preferences. So its also not a bad idea to test out random weapons and find out what weapons you like. Then you invest into those weapons. They will last you a long time, with the right modding.

Personally, when I play Nidus, I use Larvae a lot, so I really like Stropha (its a gunblade melee weapon), and its very effective against grouped up enemies because of its punch through. You aim for the middle and can very speedily kill the cluster. Shotgun weapons like Cedo, Kohm, Exergis are great too. Near your MR, the Hek is good, the Boltor as well. If I was restarting again, I'd probably prepare to get weapons like Fulmin, Cedo and Ignis Wraith (MR ranks around 8 and 9).

Good luck!
