Fairy Frame Discussion [Megathread]

It'd better be Titania.

Oberon was named absolutely perfectly. Titania would be a perfect thematic match.

I just hope they don't go "Nah, Titania's too obvious" and go with some weird, super-obscure name that gives no information of the frame's theme to the average player. (*cough* IVARA *cough*)

Seriously, though, I just googled "Ivara" and everything is just Warframe. I then googled "Ivara mythology" and "Ivara name" and the first results were still Warframe. That's a clear sign that the selected name is too obscure.

Just watched the video on the new warframe we are getting, she is looking awesome, but I wonder what name they are gonna settle with?

I would hope it would be Titania, Queen of the Fairies.

What do you guys think? Any names you think would suit the new warframe?

Trin lil sis

Yeah I'd have to put my backing behind Titania too. It fits too well to do anything else.

Silanah? dunno just threw a random name for a magical being...

call her Bob! or ... does anybody remember the name of the cursed butterflies in Fatal Frame in japanese? would be interesting, what might be even more cool is naming it after a legendary mythical creature that happens to be related to murderous butterflies like the ones from that old old old japanese Ninja movie 0.o

Mab

"O, then, I see Queen Mab hath been with you.
She is the fairies’ midwife, and she comes
In shape no bigger than an agate-stone
On the fore-finger of an alderman,
Drawn with a team of little atomies
Athwart men's noses as they lies asleep;
Her wagon-spokes made of long spinners’ legs,
The cover of the wings of grasshoppers,
The traces of the smallest spider's web,
The collars of the moonshine's wat'ry beams,
Her whip of cricket's bone; the lash of film;
Her waggoner a small grey-coated gnat,
Not half so big as a round little worm
Pricked from the lazy finger of a maid:
Her chariot is an empty hazelnut
Made by the joiner squirrel or old grub,
Time out o’ mind the fairies’ coachmakers.
And in this state she gallops night by night
Through lovers’ brains, and then they dream of love;
O’er courtiers’ knees, that dream on court'sies straight,
O’er lawyers’ fingers, who straight dream on fees,
O’er ladies' lips, who straight on kisses dream,
Which oft the angry Mab with blisters plagues,
Because their breaths with sweetmeats tainted are:
Sometime she gallops o’er a courtier's nose,
And then dreams he of smelling out a suit;
And sometime comes she with a tithe-pig's tail
Tickling a parson's nose as a’ lies asleep,
Then dreams, he of another benefice:
Sometime she driveth o’er a soldier's neck,
And then dreams he of cutting foreign throats,
Of breaches, ambuscadoes, Spanish blades,
Of healths five-fathom deep; and then anon
Drums in his ear, at which he starts and wakes,
And being thus frighted swears a prayer or two
And sleeps again. This is that very Mab
That plaits the manes of horses in the night,
And bakes the elflocks in foul @#&*tish hairs,
Which once untangled, much misfortune bodes:
This is the hag, when maids lie on their backs,
That presses them and learns them first to bear,
Making them women of good carriage:
This is she—"

Fairies (or rather faeries) in myths and legends were pretty nasty beings. Stealing children, flaying people alive, drowning sailors, you don't want to tangle with a faerie because they don't screw around. Some of them are downright terrifying.

I think DE are going in the direction of the more sanitised depiction of a fairy that modern society is familiar with, which is a little bit disappointing. Fairy's just aren't as badass as faeries, even if they do have butterflies with razor sharp wings. I'd love for this frame to be themed around evil with aoe poison clouds, abilities that sap or drain, life taps, or for it to even have a permanent pet - a thrall, or skelly. Something really flavourful thats 'evil'.

The fearies you are talking about is just name for the whole lot of mythical beings in the respective cultures. It is also the origin for the name of fairytales, as those are not always about fairies in the current "tinkerbell" kind of representation. So creatures like kelpies or sirens could be called fearies as well.

That being said i'm all for titania, it is a beautiful name for a beautiful frame.
