Coming Soon: Special Enemy & AI Devstream #87

How on earth are Scorches coded to work, and can it be changed? I understand that their weapon has enormous punchthrough (which I really think it shouldn't), but what's absolutely baffling is how it seems to determine target acquisition and damaging. People often complain about being killed through walls or by a scorch facing the other way, but I've found even stranger incidents which almost seem to suggest that their fire stream is cosmetic and they instead just randomly direct their damage to anything determined to be a valid target in range. Many times while playing Nyx, I've used Chaos and watched the grineer fight each other without shooting at me, since Nyx's threat rating plummets against chaosed enemies. I'm rarely shot by scorches while this happens... except I've repeatedly seen my SENTINEL, floating RIGHT ON ME, be instantaneously disintegrated with no flame directed at it if there is a Scorch active in the room, while I myself am unharmed by it.

Hi, sorry this question isn't related to enemy A.I, but it's been bothering me for a long time.

Can we please have an option to turn off screen shake? I can't shoot an Opticor much less, god forbid, a sniper rifle when my entire screen is registering a 9 on the Richter Scale the moment, say, a Banshee decides to use Sound Quake or when someone is using a Simulor.

Hello there!

Dear, DE:
1.) Any progress on new attachment cosmetics customisation (for example: colouring every armour part separately)? If so, ever thought about including and maybe expanding it in other aspects of appearance? I'm thinking about giving option to colour helmets and body of our warframes. Separately. Also it'd be awesome if we had option to put sigils everywhere like on helmets, legs, hulta shoulder armor etc.

2.) Any progress on Umbras? Some leaks, teasers?

3.) Is coming Bard frame's music composition only limited to those ,,tribalic tenno sounds" or maybe we will get some other options like... ekhm... dubstep?

4.) Will there ever be any deluxe skin for weapons such as sniper rifles, assaults, shotguns and so on?

5.) Can we get option to customize sniper rifle's scope? Like changing letters and background colours... lighting... and maybe some stylish skins?

6.) Is there anything more about Helminth Virus besides curing the cyst or draining it for Charger? I remember [DE]Steve saying/hinting something about secret stage... unless someone here is a lil bit guilty.

7.) Any progress on STS - Sortie Token System?

8.) What faction will be included in next cinematic quest? We already kinda triggered sentients and grineer so I think it's time for Corpus or Infested. Any hints?

Well, I think that's all I want to know.
Have a nice day.

EDIT:

9.) Any new weapon types in mind? Maybe some riot shields?

10.) Any chance for new mod system for weapons that has 2 modes of shooting/attacking? For example how about giving Stradavar 2 mod pages for one ,,Mod Loadout"? 1st for his auto mod and 2nd for his semi. Same goes with Dark Split-Swords (maybe it's about time to give them either new stance or option to use alt. fire to change modes?)

Any word on when the next throwing primary i.e. the Corpus laser one will be debuting?

Any plans or ideas for a Tenno variant?

Speaking of which, there are still broken animations for a few Warframes that still need to be addressed, specifically Ash, Atlas, Equinox and Hydroid.

You should definitely look into those Warframes before you release the next throwing primary!
Cheers!

Will enemies still be bullet sponges as well as have new quirks and such in higher levels, (like tactics and different act/react based on environment situations to increase challenge) or scale differently in order to not be bullet sponges but still have some type of tactic to create balance

Question: Are you going to make a way to remove the attributes of the original Arcane helmets and apply them to other helmets, Syandanas, or other cosmetics? It would be great to finally use my full deluxe skins, or the newer helmets with the added bonuses of the Original arcane helmets. I wouldn't mind any of the negative effects at all if I could always use the helmet I visually prefer.

Are there plans for regular enemies to gain the type of AI used for Rathuum Executioners and Index Brokers for movement and attacking?

Can regular enemies gain the Comba/Scrambus capability of being able to select from a set of weapons?

Are there plans to give regular Specialist and Elite Units Armor Attachments like Harkonar Armor?

Do Eximus have to glow from head to toe? Could Carried Equipment be responsible for special abilities?

More crazy ideas here:

On past a devstrem you mentioned to implement a system for weapons that can exceed 100% status chance to correlate with critical chance red crit system when can we see it in effect? As I enjoy using status weapons and like playing a saboteur playstyle. Also hope that the issue with Atlas and Frost crowd control abilities Petrify,Freeze, and Avalanche nullifying status damage is addressed as well. I thought the Unairu corroding beam was going to be a resolution to that in the past hopefully I won't have to wait as long now. ^-^

Screw it, I'll post it anyway. Oh, and I'll be including an enemy-related question, just to make sure you read it:

Spoiler

Yes, it's time to talk about the Mutagen Samples and the Hema again. We are still indignant over this months later -- hopefully in an organized and respectful manner, but indignant nonetheless -- and we still want our voices heard.

I know what you're thinking, "but Tenno, the Hema was released in early December. Surely if you stuck your nose to the grindwall, you could have researched it by now." That is to an extent true. Perhaps many of us did. But between those of us who did and those of us who didn't, we all have reason to be indignant over this, and it's the same reason we had back when the Hema was released and the devs were on holiday: because this was not the road we wanted Warframe to head down in the future.

On principle, this was never acceptable. And when you, the developers promised us that the Hema would not set a precedent for future weapons, that huge jumps in the grindwall would not continue for future weapons, you made us a promise that we the Tenno must for the good of the game hold you to

To go into specifics, the Hema situation was bad enough in isolation. Players became expected to not just grind, but to grind in a very specific, very repetitive way. In Devstream 86, a comment was made to the effect that because there was a most efficient node in which to grind, that meant the devs were under no responsibility to alleviate the situation. If clans weren't able to meet the requirements, it was their fault. Never mind that many clans could only do so by kicking out less-than-active members and downgrading, and spreading a mentality that members only existed within the clans to grind more resources. Gotta do what you gotta do.

I'd like to say "all numbers aside" but the numbers were just too big, and it sort of poisoned the game around it. The kind of grind and mindless self-sacrifice just to "pull your weight" required for the Hema is not what clans should be about. Players on the forums telling clans that they should just pressure their Warlord to kick out all their non-contributing clanmates isn't what clans are about, it's not what grind is about.

Now imagine if this was indeed a precedent. Imagine if we the players sent the message that such a situation was acceptable. What would you the developers have done?

We as Tenno love Warframe. That shouldn't be in question. We love our frames, we love our guns, most of us love our Zariman kids, and most of all we love our Developers. And it is BECAUSE we love you, DE, that we want to see you at your best. We don't like seeing things we love turn sour. I for one will be happy to forgive if this was indeed just a single mistake and you just wanted us to put in a little bit of work to enjoy more of what we loved.

With the Hema, the damage is probably done. You can lower the cost or increase the drop rate if you want. You can keep both as is. We can't really stop you. But moving forward you have a choice, a choice about whether the Hema represents the direction Warframe is going. The Hema and the situation therein is not the Warframe we love, and for that matter I doubt it's the Warframe you love to create. If that situation continues, I can't promise you I'll be sticking around to see where Warframe ends up.

Lastly -- just to make sure this is relevant to the thread, here's a suggestion related to enemies: can we A) at the very least fix the Eris drop table so that mutagen samples drop correctly, and B) make all Infested drop mutagen samples independent of what planet we fight them on? Someone else mentioned B earlier in this thread and I think it's a pretty good idea. Kinda weird when Grineer on Mars drop fieldron. It may not be an AI-related suggestion, but it would make them more atmospheric nonetheless

1) Can we expect to see more wildlife in the future (especially on corpus ice planets)?

2) Will Lanxs (the sharks on uranus) get their own Ai (its really sad that they are listed as objekts in the codex)?

3) Will there be a corpus enemy which has controll over some kind of wildlife in the future (like a Drahk/Hyekka Master)?

4) Can we expect some new variants of corpus enemys, like frontier corpus?

5) Can we expect to see more diversity in corpus enemys in general?

We dont need to see more differently painted Crewmen, Moas and Ospreys.

Parasitic eximi and scrambus/comba units. They don't broadcast their abilities at all.

And on the note of broadcasting, are there any plans to improve radar to tell more about enemies - light or heavy units, special spawns, etc? You guys mentioned a while back there were plans to spruce up the minimap stuff.

Is there a possibility of Stalker getting a penalty for be defeated by him? Zanuka Hunter and the Grustrag Three have one, yet Stalker doens't. I'm thinking that maybe if you lose to him, he depletes all of your revives ending the mission or leaving the player dead if in a squad as well as locking the frame from use until next login.

How about an alternate grineer manic, a female version with a grineer style scythe added to the kuva fortress?
