PSA: Heirloom Collection Platinum Changes & Lessons

Greetings, Tenno!

We’re back in action after TennoCon 2023 - and our number one priority is addressing the community’s reaction to the Heirloom Collection.

We missed the mark here and understand the feedback we're receiving because of it. After taking some time to review and evaluate our options based on the concerns, we have opted to increase the Platinum amounts in all Heirloom Packs. 

 

The Feedback we can address for the current Heirloom Collection:

“The value of the Packs does not justify the price point.”

 

Our Change to Address:

We are increasing Platinum to all Heirloom Packs to bring them alongside Prime Access standards:

• Increase Platinum in Risen Pack: 400 to 800
• Add Platinum in Celestial Pack: 800
• Increase Platinum in Zenith Pack: 600 to 2100

*The Platinum will be delivered via in-game Inbox to accounts that have already purchased the respective Packs. We are coordinating our efforts now to arrange the Inbox send, and Hotfix required. We will signal when the Inbox has been delivered on all Platforms.

 

**8/31/23 Status Update:

We're running the Inbox script on each Platform now that the Hotfix has been deployed. We'll update here when the script has finished for all!

The script is complete!! All accounts that have purchased a Heirloom Pack have received the appropriate amount of Platinum via in-game Inbox.

 

Similar to how Regal Aya bundles launched with no Platinum and were met with strong feedback, we agree Heirloom Packs need more value to justify their status.  

This decision was made to address the feedback and maintain the expectations we had set for players upon the release of the Heirlooms (time exclusivity and Pack contents). In doing so, we are able to increase the value of pack contents in a way that does not remove any value for Tenno who have bought them. We do not feel it would be fair to those who purchased an Heirloom Collection already with the understanding that they were time-limited to now remove that element. Those who have purchased simply get more, and ultimately they are now a good Platinum deal with exclusive Cosmetics.

Heirloom Collections are intended to be unforgettable (for the right reasons) - we are also discussing ways we can better preserve that feeling of legacy, quality, and prestige for future Heirloom Collections (if we make more).

We truly appreciate your feedback and concerns and recognize the responsibility we have in ensuring that any new directions we take with cosmetic exclusives are done with much more careful consideration. The Heirlooms were designed with the celebratory nature of this year's TennoCon and 10-year anniversary, and it's on us to ensure that you, as a player, feel that we are upholding years of lessons learned when it comes to selling cosmetic exclusives. If we continue with this series, we are dedicated to ensuring all future Heirloom Collection releases have more purchase flexibility and reflect all feedback we received during this launch.

Zenith owner here, this is a good change. Personally i'm fine with a small number of skins being expensive and time limited as long as the bundle is correctly priced.

Thank you for at least doing something about it, DE. It's better than nothing.

But from my point of view the real issue with this package was:

• The inflation of the pack's cost due to platinum inclusion and specially regal aya.
• The time-gate and exclusivity part of the package, which makes it very similar to the Founders Program, something you said would not happen again.

If this is a one-time only thing, so be it. I'll certainly buy it and enjoy two of the best skins in the whole game, and for two of my favorite-ish frames. It is a good pack by itself, but the precedent it sets is very ugly. Please do not do this kind of thing again. Ever.

I still think its scummy to charge almost $100 for 2 skins because of FOMO. We asked for a cheaper 4th bundle with just the cosmetics, not more platinum and certainly not more regal aya.

This doesn't relieve any of the FOMO or give players anymore choice.

I don't care for the Mag stuff at all.

I don't mind the Frost skin, but the Halo is all I want.

 

I don't want to pay MORE money than some triple A videos games for 1 in game cosmetic.

Regal Aya is useless to me too, I've been playing for 9 years.
I've got all the Prime gear and Prime cosmetics that I want.
I WANT to support you DE, but you're not making it easy.

With all due respect, DE, you all completely ignored all the feedback where some of us reasonably asked for a purchase option to get just the cosmetics as we have no interest in or need for Aya or plat.

Currently the ONLY way to get all the cosmetics is to shell out a lot of money for a pack that’s got Aya and Plat in it to let you get more gear. That’s fine for newer players that don’t have Frost or Mag Prime and want them…but it’s a waste of hard-earned money for people that already have those 'Frames and value how they spend their money.

What’s so hard about giving us players that already have Frost Prime and / or Mag Prime a reasonable purchase option where only the cosmetics are offered? Honestly, we’d be happy to buy the new cosmetics that way.

Right now though, you're losing out on additional sales and losing the respect of your playerbase by keeping bundle options for players intentionally limited and having the whole thing needlessly time gated. Merely increasing the amount of plat in the existing bundles was an arguably tone-deaf move that's answered none of the most outspoken issues (FOMO, restricted and expensive bundle options, etc.) and has only served to polarize and agitate the community further. Shoving in extra plat doesn't change the fact that the top tier bundle is still disgustingly expensive for what is essentially a skin pack for two Warframes.

After 10 years of developing one of the best F2P games out there and managing its ever-growing player database, you all REALLY should know better how to treat us.
