I feel the head of the weapon ought to be a bit smaller in relation to the shaft / handle. I'm thinking that disc can indeed be shot off, with the disc possibly spitting out a hail of rounds as it spins and flies through the air. I don't really see this being wielded like a bladed weapon normally, unless the "blade" is a projected energy field or there are retractable blades inside that disc Guess we'll have to wait and see!
