Railjack Ettiquette

(XBOX)Beowulf Tyr

Question

Is there an official Railjack Ettiquette Guide? I am very particular when it comes to my Railjack and sometimes I forget that I'm on public when I intended to go solo. I will be on a third mission grind and some players will show up out of the blue. It is kinda like being home on the weekend, you haven't showered or picked up the place and someone just kinda comes over and walks in cause the door is unlocked. They go straight for the fridge and asks "Where's the beer?"

I don't put on my best armaments or have full hull plating on when I grind so I can get the hull breach and repair points, but right away I'm getting judged. Then they take the helm and fly us off god knows where for who the hell knows why? Which is why I solo in the first place. But maybe players don't get that they are on someone elses ship and it is really rude to go off mission.

Rule #1 on My Railjack: Don't touch the helm!

Rule # 2: Don't touch the navigation!

Rule #3: If you are the guest, you are the one jumping out to enter the base and expose the radiator, which I will shoot.

I may have unintentionally hosted the mission, and I will finish the current mission so everyone can get their loot and intrinsics, but it's my boat. Besides I'm not likely set up for a trip to void space with my current loadout. Particularly if you got onboard while I was in Earth Proxima.

At some point I wouldn't mind hosting a series of missions, but my Railjack isn't ready for that yet and I need rules established first.

Honestly best policy for public games is that anything goes, invite only or solo mode are there if you're that serious about your quality game time, spent all day today and yesterday in invite only cus I didn't want somebody failing a spy mission I was grinding for Ivara.

While Railjack and the Lich/Sister parts of the game are built to promote team play, you get penalised for playing on your own with missing out on potential drops. Even moreso with the holokey changes.

With New War and Sisters, Railjack is becoming more of a mandatory part of the gameplay loop that the devs call Warframe's unique "flow".

I do preach, not gonna deny that...

Since you're such a good analyst of the subject, don't you think preachers like me normally should be the ones who want changes the most? Why do preachers preach anyway, right? Ever stop to think that probably we who have give up, are the ones who have preached for changes the hardest? But it's just a food for thought. Of course we'd still be guilty of giving up.

We're probably more alike than you think: I don't sugarcoat even more. We can fight for changes as much as we want, but DE very rarely implemented any. And it's the ugly truth.

At the end of the day, there are two kinds of parents: those who let their kids march, and those who want to keep their kids safe. You can't blame either.

As I've said before, people can't stop others doing what they do in warframe. I've spread my message to keep people safe. You're free to spread yours for a better future. Just don't do it by attacking others, i wish your cause the best of luck.

You know what ? I couldn't think of a better "agree to disagree" than what you wrote.

I did snap at you this time, guess it won't be needed in the future. (Unless you catch me in an especially bad mood, it happens)

Right now I'm in a tired and lazy mood, so I'll just say peace !

Yeah, as someone who actually gets annoyed when joining a Railjack mission on a poorly geared ship. Like most missions people in Railjack missions want to finish it fastest, especially when you are farming for Holokeys so its really expected you bring the best equipment.
Dont bother with breaches, they do give you a fair amount of XP but its not worth focusing on them, you can however just throw you self in front of any Ramsled you see as you will get XP for both the Crew killed and the bonus for clearing out each one.

As for etiquette, i dont mind people taking the helm as long as they are not flying randomly through the map and are either doing the objectives or helping the rest of the team do their part. If i step behind the pilot i expect them to stand up and pass the seat to me.

I really really hate it when a player joins the mission with me and goes straight to the Frontal Artillery seat, most do nothing the whole mission except charge/fire it when a Crewship comes in line of sight, they dont go out to do secondary objectives or anything that involves going inside a structure. If the two Gunner seats are not taken, i want no one on Artillery.

If the squad is full i expect players to split up, some do the Alt objectives, some speed up the main ones wile i take on Fighters and Crewships with the Railjack.

I hop right into forward artillery as soon as i load into somebody's Railjack. Then i spam all abilities (lavos) and oneshot any crewship i see. In addition to Cannon damage have Artillery Cheap Shot in my plexus, so i usually destroy at least 4 crewships and 50- 80% fighters before the pilot gets to first objective... Only then i hop out the ship, blink to second objective and usually complete it before others do the first one. I just have more specialised canoneer build than most tenno i met in voidstorms. Randoms are usually very happy with my way of playing, Veil Proxima skirmish takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Couple times i got teammates that also knew what they were doing, taking total mission times to about 3 minutes each. Less should be possible with dedicated squads.

My point is, Big Gun Seat is the most important place to be if you want the mission to go smoothly and fast. I can use artillery, switch to Guns to finish stragglers and use abilities. I even prefer somebody else to pilot my Schmetterling when im hosting and just point me at crewships that need to be gone:-)

Letting free reigns to the trolls, "oh, we can't do anything, just give up our rights to benefit from playing pugs, let the trolls go wild", combatting every idea of tools that could be implemented to help us in that regard no matter how limited it is (on the basis that it could be used by trolls, while they already have THE GAME to turn against us), going out of your way to preach that we all abandon pugs whenever possible.

We might have had something like a once per week and per person kickvote by now, if you and many others didn't spread that kind of ideas.

I never claimed to be righteous, not in the sense that I'm using the word at least. I just don't sugarcoat what I'm saying. But I'm always happy to discuss, though in this case, you seem so invested in everone playing solo to a fault that I doubt we can ever have trully interesting exchanges on this topic, as I'm pretty dug in on my point myself.

This post was made recently...  Its pretty irrelevant currently.   There is no reason to do RJ with others except Orphix lol(and your probably better off running eido 4 arcanes)

AI Crew are awesome.  Fill these spots exactly:

  1.  Engineer w/ combat+endurance (This is the last replaced crew when others join if public)
  2. Gunner/Pilot + Endurance (pew pew when your in space, and drives the boat when you raid bases.  Works awesome imo)
  3.  Defender combat/endurance or Lich

------------------------------

I really dont ever need to be in public unless I just need the company.  There are still a few things that bother me.....  my public etiquette would be....

  • Dont leave the ship until we have killed all fighters/crew.   When people jump ship and raid bases you drag fighters and crew AWAY from the RJ making the pilots job harder.   And guess who wont be there to blow radiators jerk.
  • Have pity on your pilot.  Maybe they have become reliant on AI crew.  When your in a full squad help with repairs...
  • If your the pilot and you see artillery lasers.. STOP MOVING.  Let the gunner do his job.  But its also Vice Versa... as a Pilot I like to disable crewships...so please dont start trying to shoot the artillery before I am in position.
  • If your the pilot crewships should be your absolute #1 priority.  If your screwing around with fighters you are dragging your team down.  If you can take out all the crewships quickly with help from a gunner then that frees them up to do other things (most likely jump ship and drag fighters away from you but oh well you should be able to handle that easily THEN)

The arty/pilot thing is 50/50 and just requires PATIENCE.   If the pilot isnt making a bee line for the crewship butt then go ahead and start triggering artillery to let them know you wanna shoot.  If the pilot is making an attempt to get behind a crewship then LET THEM.

if you kill crew ships first...fighters stop spawning, resulting in a soft lock. best policy is to kill all the fighters first...then worry about crew ships.

But they do what I am complaining about in missions where the only task is crewships (void storm exterm etc)

there's no etiquette in warframe whatsoever.

any attempts to set one will only be met with hostility from many people and disappointment on your end. we've seen great efforts for great causes went down in flames.
warframe is the wild west where everyone can do whatever they want, and get away with it.

yes, there are some generally agreed "good behaviors" such as waiting for everyone on elevators, etc. but even if you break it, nobody can do anything about it.

at the end of the day, warframe is a free game, a famous top contender on its category for quite a while now, which attracts PLENTY of people. and most of its casual players have no sense of belonging nor obligation to follow any rules nor etiquettes.

we have absolutely zero say on how others should play. if you want things to go your way, simply #PlayWarframeSolo like many of us do.

Maybe the problem is (well, @DarknessNightshade already kind of pointed it out): Railjack requires co-operation, while the regular part of the game doesn't. In another thread, someone said something along the lines of: "There's a team playing where every member plays the same game alone".

It is quite difficult to actually spoil other players experience in the regular game (arguably, it is possible, but personally I feel it doesn't happen to an extend where it would actually have been a problem).

With Railjack, it is much easier - either intentionally or by accident (probably - I'm very novice when it comes to railjack and definitely are still getting used to even the basics). But I also think if you are on public mode, anything goes. Use your clan/recruit chat/whatever if you don't like it.

I would still welcome some control over the crew for the host of Railjack missions.

Back in my day, you were able to start the elavator from the outside.
I would be Mr. Nice Guy (who happened to get dragged in with the one who started it early) and send it back for the people behind.
Why the ability to do this was removed still elludes me.

PS: Off-topic, ya...I just wanted to say it.

The only staple etiquette I have found is 2 part:

  1. public missions (yes even the ones you end up in by accident) literally anything goes. There's no rules. Expect to occasionally encounter trolling or selfishness, Walk into it with the understanding you may have to hard carry the whole thing. Other players likely won't let you fulfill the role you have chosen for yourself.
  2. Premades are where you agree to follow the etiquette outlined by others before hand.

Everyone has different views on how to do it. Some park and do the mission leaving the rj safe out of sight for example.

I just wish pilots would look at crew ships as soon as someone pops in forward artillery, and then stop moving. So many pilot like they are drunk.

I understand. I generally keep to solo play and look to ways to avoid the need to jump into a public missions. I surprised myself the other day when I finished a Plague Star mission by myself after the rest of the team suddenly bailed.

I fully appreciate the spirit of the game promoting freedom of play.

That sounds reasonable to me. I normally go solo when I'm doing my XP thing, the point being I hadn't intended on having guests. When hosting officially I outfit everything with my best. That being said if I do have guests, they should recognize and respect the current captain, ship and mission.

We should be able to post a sign with basic ettiquette and expectations while serving on our perspective ships. I like the idea of having the helm restricted to the railjack's owner.

I am in the same boat as op whenever someone touches the helm crewmates fly towards on coming missiles i have had one time a crewmate parked my railjack in front of a missile silo and say "she handles like S#&$" and refuse to get off the helm I would go as far as to we need a boot crewmate button
