My thought is that it is gonna be more like WiLD, the envoy is the animal behind the character.

Read the Open letters from Steve and Rebecca, please:

Envoys & Tenno, the future is bright.

It's crystal clear.

I'm curious if the upcoming Soulframe share lore connection with Warframe. We can expect a lot of collaboration events between two games if Warframe isn't dead by the time Soulframe is out.

It's probably warframe 2. Since they can't go back to 2014 warframe that people miss. This will be a slower experience for people that don't like how fast the gameplay has become.

Anyone else having issues getting their Twitch drops?  I watched nonstop from 3pm-end and haven't seen anything yet - the Twitch claim page takes me to a dead link.

I got the fan and sugatra, but because tennocon started at midnight and went until like 5am in my timezone, I switched over to my phone app and watched in bed, but also left my PC browser open. I'm unsure if logging in from two places at once had some effect, or if the browser was logged out. I have no indication  of receiving Titania Prime, have no backlog of items, and my in game inbox is empty except for stuff from this stream.

When I looked at it the next morning, it said the stream had only been running for about 2.5hrs, but that would have been after the stream officially ended.

(I'm writing this in retrospect to my reply below. I'm kind of bitter about the state of the game and how it got here. You're not wrong, Steve was absolutely integral to crafting Warframe's universe and its systems, and was creative enough to bring it this far. His ambition undoubtedly brought Warframe the success that it sees to this day.)

Warframe is more than a one-man project. It's pretty clear that the wishful vision in his head never came close to reality. Warframe has been far from flawless, and frankly their success still feels like a fluke. The game has dealt with serious long-standing and repeating issues that always hold it back from meeting its potential. I have the belief that a lot of this is due to old-guard management and direction being out of touch with how modern video games are made.

Liches were inspired by Shadow of Mordor's kingpin system, a very sophisticated and elegant system that the game was basically built around, but it feels like Steve saw it and his only takeaway was having a special enemy with a random name harass you and be scary (on top of a very stupid and tragic copyright for kingpin's design). Liches were not necessarily popular, they were just the current content, they took a long time to finish, and their weapons were really good and worth the time. Many players that make it that far are deep in warframe's investment fallacies. Losing to your first lich was apparently a big hook for players too. The only thing I really cared about from sisters was having improved corpus weapons on the order of Kuva weapons.

Railjack actually had a decent foundation, but so many trivial problems kept getting in its way, on top of the bugs. Gian Point reduced the entire mode, and there was nothing worth your time anywhere in RJ... Fast forward and an attempt to resuscitate the mode was tried with added corpus content (DE always tries expensive revivals via content rather than the few tweaks that they actually need), only for some small changes to railjack chores and a reward bug make the Grineer modes finally shine through, and the corpus modes highly questionable. Orphix, a mode I genuinely enjoy, doesn't have the rewards to make it worth anyone's time, and so it's lost content... Even now, I don't think you can call Railjack a fun mode.

I think Warframe has survived on its potential this entire time. Warframe has a certain cycle of grief where players enjoy their first 100 or so hours of progress, stick with it because they've come this far, and become disappointed with the destination. No other game has such a creative setting and design. Who the heck would think "Space Ninja" and design it like Excalibur??? That was Warframe's potential. How is a space ninja supposed to move? Apparently Metroid screw attacks.

I might be a bit hard on Steve in some ways. Warframe's uniqueness could be his doing too, but don't underestimate the desire for a game's potential. I speak as a Star Citizen buyer, and I don't think you'd call Chris Roberts the same success man like you'd call Steve because Chris hasn't produced anything remotely close to his own vision, but I think they're similar. I've enjoyed some of my time with this game, but I don't think Warframe entirely deserved its success based on what it produced, rather it succeeded on what it might produce later. My issues with the game are also not solely Steve's fault, however I have a better impression of Rebecca's grasp on Warframe's state and hope she is more open to the commonly identified issues that have run with the game for years.

Everything you just said sounds like it's coming from a person who took in every single rhetorical nonsense from YouTubers and not someone who plays the game to enjoy it. Now, to be clear, I'm saying your points sound or seem like it, not that this is true. I don't know if it is. Next, I've never played a bug free game, especially one of this scale and that is as progressive and as consistently updated as this game. More critically, we all know a bad internet connection in pub is the largest issue this game really has. VERY few bugs have had serious enough issues to warrant the rhetoric. Also, yes, Excal and the other frames are exactly the same as even the most classic ninja animes and games depict: agile, stealthy, high evasion, weapons specialist, secret abilities and uses various forms of projectiles and items. They also have certain high level ninjas with unique physiques and specialized characteristics. The ONLY difference is Warframe is a future game, not ancient Japan.

In regards to the potential part, from my 6 year perspective, I can tell you that I don't waste time playing a game for that long just because of "potential". This game is flat out fun as hell and continues to be. I'm still in awe over every mainline update, every lore progression, every innovative risk and every open discussion about the game's future they have (or had, thanks to some youtubers bashing the white board). I will NEVER sit here and make the mistake of dismissing my memorable playtime and then suddenly declaring the game "isn't as good" just because "I'm over it" and have or completed everything. That becomes a "me" issue and is not the game's fault.  More importantly, DE has no issues removing things that are unpopular...which must mean their data still shows a high enough player interest in the things you think Steve screwed up and, in truth, players are very much enjoying those game pieces.

Now, in regards to you saying Warframe doesn't deserve its success based on what it produced, that's even more insulting to the devs....and its a poor statement to make. Think about it, Warframe "vet" status is over about 2500 hours of playtime. Some of those youtubers, and perhaps yourself,  have played longer than that. That is not "potential" based but it is success in high playability and fun factor based. There are personal issues involved if you've played or done anything FREE WILLED for that long and don't love it. Therefore, Steve deserves his flowers 1000 fold for creating a game with a long time team that is not only thriving, but thriving on EVERY MAJOR PLATFORM. Potential my ass. Warframe is just a fantastic game.

The thing DE did give instance easy clue who is controlling the Narmar's group, thanks you just pointed the big giant hole there but right now DE, right now I think DE should make up the other 4 thing as well which the worm's queen future quest, orb spider quest, Corrupted Vor deep quest, lastly fixing the last forgotten boss who excuses as a pun to die alot Sergent.  WHEN DE HE GETS UPDATE!

Sad part was Steve talking about handing Warframe down to the younger generation and moving on. Looks like he'll stick around till the Duviri update.

I really hope Soulframe has interesting combat. I generally hope its a success.

I also hope Pablo considers more community feedback. Ive read some great ideas over the years in this forum. Sadly, as far as I can tell, the vast majority of interesting feedback collects dust.

If Rebecca is at the helm then I think community imput will be an integral part for her.

Since she was the community director she knows first hand how important the community is.

Rebecca getting the promotion is a good move. And she's been in this role for at least the past 6 months, PCGamer did an article about it.

Honestly I'm excited the next 2 updates look quite good.

Well, I hope the site's SIGN UP button gets fixed soon, since I can't figure out where in the page's interior text the confirmation stuff is hidden.

You have to do the little puzzle thing, which looks kinda like a multiple dial cylinder combination lock, and then you'll have access to more of the page.  At the bottom is the sign-up.

Thanks Mako this overview I am looking into the Soulframe too. After reading the open letters I have a little bit lethargy but it is acceptable any developer spending a decade on a project will and wants to move to another. Hopefully the Soulframe will be interesting and they will fix the mistakes what they made in warframe. I hope they won't stop supporting Warframe because it still have 10-20 year of it's lifetime.

I was waiting for more, maybe it’s just me but this tennocon felts like a long agonizing Devstream.

The leading up presentations felt stale, boring and for me felt that they missed the mark.

There is a limit of how many times can you present the sound team,i get it it’s great but show something fresh.

The dev Q&A felt liked a missed oportunity. It’s great it introduced new people from DE,but it didn’t felt like a Q&A but more of an intro

The Community ar work and Dojo part was long and boring with hosts that were trying too hard.

The main event felt like the classical Devstream but more unstructured, a lot of changes just trown in there without a proper introduction.

This tennocon felt like a wrap up for warframe overall and an introduction for the next phase.

Somehow this approach left me the feeling that Warframe will go on the same path as League. After being aquired buy Tencent, spawned a lot of games based on Leagues lore and foundation but stopped investing in the main game(mansatory tinfoil hat)

None of the issues that warframe has were mentioned(Hydroid is on it’s 7th year of being useless yet excalibur mag were mentioned for the nth mini rework)

Overall  tennocon was a dissapointment for me not from the news perspective but rather from the organizational perspective

In a community role, she might have had a seat at the table but wasn't at its head.

Now she is. And from what we saw today the next couple of updates look very promising.

Pablo, senior game designer, mentioned how Matt, the art director, has a folder of ideas that Pablo goes through from time to time, and when he comes across something interesting he implements it. Rebecca has been the community director for years, and the community has had some great ideas... you see where im going with this? Like I said, wont hold my breath.

I have MASSIVE concerns for the new Soulframe in development, taking current develpers off the current game to work on that is a bold choice, and it could work...however, more likely than not one game will suffer for it and eventually the company itself will have to make a choice which to throw support behind if it comes down to that.

I am NOT saying it will but be "Cautiously Optimistic" any game can be the prettiest thing on the planet visually but if its littered with bugs and parasitic systems, I shouldnt have to say the result of that, a big part of why I am losing my drive to play warframe lately is it really feels like the developers focus on making things look pretty over function and optimization, as a result I find myself asking the question: At what point do I draw the line?

I apologize that second part got real doom and gloom but you get the basic idea, the magic of the game just isn't there for me as much anymore.

Veso is confirmed dead. Based on an interview with Rebbecca.

"That motivated us to prioritize it because we knew playable Kahl really resonated. We knew Veso did not survive the New War quest, but with Kahl we left it ambiguous on purpose because we wanted to make sure that before we committed to a full Kahl update that it did resonate. And sure enough, it did. Now we're ready for a veil breaking experience, which is our very much strictly post New War content ... "

From VG247

"We're actually doing another tier of Sorties. What we're going to do is bring the archons back for a weekly content type of Sorties. Week one will be Amar, Nira would be the next week and you'll have all week to take them down in their weekly Sortie which will be in their designated area. In addition, you're only going to be matched with other players that are in that difficulty tier to actually engage with the Archon content."

The end of an era, we all know that the announcement of a second game is a hit on WF. If DE wasn't that financiarized I would be optimistic having new blood taking on the game however there are big chances that the game is going on cruise control for now. DE is pretty good when they inovate, I hope for their new game to be released with a better emphasis on architecture. The hosted system of WF really's not good.

Ya honestly I think Steve, Geoff and Scott leaving & Rebecca taking over is a VERY good thing.

Then you aren’t aware of the things shes been responsible for. She shoved a vampire theme into Revenants and gave him some of the most uninspired abilities that just completely rip off other frames powers. She’s responsible for the Nyx rework that changes Psychic Bolts to have an armor strip. Which while isn’t the worst change ever both frames showcase her design philosophy of “Ability bad? Just give 100% of a effect like Heath drain, or armor strip.” Which is honestly just kind of lazy design work. Also despite it all Nyx is still bad and still the least used frame in the game.

If Rebecca is truly in charge of Warframes future then the game may very well be doomed.

thanks as always mako!

my main concern right now is with the staff changes, since Reb is going to be replacing Steve as Creative Director and Steve is taking some of the veteran developers to work on Soulframe: the future of warframe could be very bright or very dark, though I will try to stay as positive as possible. I really hope Soulframe is a success, but I can't say I've ever seen a Dev successfully run two large online services simultaneously, so I really hope they haven't bitten off more than they could chew again (I remember their plan for The Amazing Eternals, and how it was cancelled). that aside:

- Duviri looks trippy as balls and I like it.

- SUPER stoked to see Kahl, Narmer and Archons make a return. feels like myself and others have been listened to when we said that New War was over too soon, and it looks like Erra has been turned into an Archon as well now.

- upcoming Wolf frame concept looks good, and I like the idea of the "Spartan frame", Spear and Shield is a really underrated combo.

- nice to hear warframe reworks are returning, but Excal and Mag wouldn't have been my first choices: both of their kits work well, certainly compared to the likes of Hydroid.. I hope that at least once Reb assumes control, she will listen to us when we ask for older stuff to be brought up to date: not just older warframes, but game modes and systems that are long overdue for a rework.

- Khora and Venari Prime look amazing, far better than I thoguht they would.

- I'll be sure to try Soulframe when it goes live, but keep my expectations tempered as normal.
