The only concern I have is that the Umbral Vitality (when the entire set it equipped) doesn't seem to line up with the old values. Anyone's free to double-check my math on this one, but I think Umbral Vitality will have reduced effectiveness.

It's pretty much all positives except for the frames that already had a very high survivability value. I also calculated the ranking, but I realize that survivability is a lot more nuanced than just EHP. Still, I was happy to see my precious Mag and Mag Prime jump the rankings.

-Enigma Puzzles suck, they are static and never change.  Asking us to farm these for decorations was equally insane.  I got the Cinta, I don't plan on ever touching an enigma puzzle again.   (Really I got no reason to even be in or do Duviri again except for arcanes and captura, I've gotten everything else I want)

- Have never done SP wyrm.  I got several incarnum adapters and tons of other crap from duviri and got by fine with normal wyrm amount.   More currency is a piss poor motivation for doing a harder version of a boss.

The revised acts all look amazing!!      Out of all those changes though nothing was done about hydrolyst/eidolon task???   That is literally the only thing in the game I would love to see changed lol.   I'd rather have to get a lich and finish it before doing eidolons.

I never abused shield gating so I don't really got anything to complain about.   I'm getting more shields and tougher shields for free?  ok.....   

I have tried to make shield tanks before.   Big shields + over shields + arcane barrier + Adaptation.   It worked pretty awesome in normal mode,  not so much in SP.   One huge problem though is Arcane Barrier only restores normal shields and NOT over shields.   So using overshield abilities/mechanics are wasted kinda.    Arcane Barrier should get a little buff to how often it triggers and let it restore up to your overshield limit.  

In general this makes me want to start slapping shields on more Warframes but in reality I do not have the mod slots to do it.. and even then I don't think this will help with steel path....   There's some abilities and stuff that do not grant damage reduction to shields  (Like Nova's anti-matter particles)  Besides shield mods I think shield Regen will pretty much be mandatory for a shield tank build.  I know really well how long it takes for shields to come back and its not good. 

If you want shield tanking to be competitive with armor/hp tanking its gonna take a lot more help.   We need a few more umbra mods to.   Umbra Shields for starters.

If we get Primed Redirection, then we need to get Primed Vitality and Primed Fiber too. It's just a whole lot more effort to do, than simply finishing the existing Umbral set.

The problem with Umbral Redirection, is if you're building for shields instead of health, then you don't want/need Umbral Fiber. The equivalent to Umbral Fiber for shields, would probably be something like Umbral Fast Deflection. They'd be better off just making a whole new set for shield tanks.

There's a fair chance the Umbral set has been  finished for 5 years, tenno.  :P  And we don't have to have prime versions of Vitality and Steel Fiber, because Umbral versions do exist.

What about Vigor and Primed Vigor?

This is exactly why choice exists. Bottom line is we can't have it all, and that's a really great thing. We get to experiment with something different, something outrageous, something mundane and/or something raw. It's all a part of the give and take of a good modding system. 

The bigger question I can ask you is this: what else can you do, outside of your warframe mods, that can supplement your needs to create your ideal build? Between focus schools, arcanes, companion mods, and even weapon mods, I bet that you could accomplish a build that suits your needs. I've seen players try to over fantasize a perfect build and I've actually shown many of them (not all) a method that accomplished what they really wanted. The only outliers were players who were too kiddy about their wants.

Considering you'd only build shields on frames with <150 armor in the first place, you wouldn't care about Fiber. Pairing Umbral Redirection with Umbral Intensify would be all that's needed on that front. There's certain frames that could also add Umbral Vitality to that.

Some ideas:

• Archon Redirection
  • When shields break, gain a buff for [seconds] that causes enemies within [range] to drop [pickups]
    • These pickups add [numerical value] to the buff
    • Affected by vacuum
  • If you would suffer a lethal hit, the [numerical value] is restored to your shields (any overflow becomes overshields)
    • The lethal hit is redirected to those new shields first, and subsequently gated if strong enough
    • If shields break as a result of this, you do not get another copy of the buff (prevents infinite loop of invulnerability)
    • The buff is then removed
  • If the buff expires, the [numerical value] is restored to your shields (any overflow becomes overshields)
• Corrupted Redirection (name TBD, drops from the Deimos vaults)
  • Positive effects:
    • +300% shield capacity
    • -50% shield delay
  • Negative effects:
    • -50% health capacity
    • Base armor is reduced to 100
  • Additionally, toxin no longer bypasses shields (otherwise this mod would be unusable)

So long as Umbral polarization also works on Astral, that'd be fine. Last thing we need is another impossibly rare forma type, Umbral forma is already cancerous enough as is. Also, instead of Intensify, should be one of the other stats. My vote would be for Astral Streamline, granting 30/50/75% depending on set completion.

Archon shards, a Mod slot Example Boreals Hatred/Shield and ability efficiency, a Specific set of Syndicate weapons, Chromas helminth that needs a duration buff

This is exactly why choice exists.

For choice to be "good" they have to be comparable. Augur & co offers much more than future "-delay/recharge" mods (assuming that delay starts after you stop getting hit).

While modding system have complexity and makes us experiment, "-delay/recharge" won't be very good (assuming that delay starts after you stop getting hit). I don't mind having pros & cons, that's even good thing in some cases. However I just see it as mostly inferior option. That's not great when you have "bad options" in modding system.

I don't like to be tied to my configs (I sometimes frame or weapon so all things should work, somehow) so my Carrier have all my basic needs (ammo conversion, destroying crates, hp on wall run, radar). I don't change it very often. In general it's not that I couldn't fit all the stuff I need in my builds. It's just they require many changes when I change e.g. weapon so that I don't use such builds. I'm using builds that are mostly self contained (not heavily depended on each other). So while Carrier stays all the time I can freely change my frame or weapon (with some small tweaks).

Free to play doesn't have to "pay 2 win". For example they can sell cosmetics. In WF case they sell frames and weapons as well. Not everything feels "pay 2 win" model. Except for Hespar & Gyre, Getting weapons & arcanes doesn't seems to be hard (26 MR so I can put that 25ish standing per day). While you cannot buy incarnon weapons from market, but you can still trade blueprints. There are some instances where they don't make game slog but still let you skip (buy stuff). However recently they started with some weird "grind a lot without being able to buy" kind of thing. It was just tenet melees but now we have more instances of such things (Archon shards, incarnon adapters etc).

Admittedly the concept of Limbo getting shafted YET AGAIN is hilarious to me.

Dude is the squishiest Frame due to his mechanic, a mechanic that's been consistently and systemically being kicked in the nuts for the entirety of it's time in the game, and the universal mechanic that could allow him to maintain survivability is ALSO getting taken from him.

I just, I find it extremely hilarious.

So, immediate feedback after reading through a lot of this...and seeing a lot of copium doled out when it comes to "we're not nerfing anything, please trust us."

1) Pets not dying is nice.  The rebalance of mods is frustrating...because most builds are 3-4 defensive forma, revival dash, radar dash, and then whatever is left is abilities.  It's...going to be a royal pain in the backside to rebuild things based upon the huge amount of mechanical changes...so maybe we could see some free slots or forma to cover the large investment that is now being flushed down the toilet.

2) Making it even easier to get focus.  Yay.  Garbage.  If it's endgame content then why has every change been to make it so much easier to get?  From somebody who did the grind back when Atterax whips went through walls, I'm seeing nothing here but devaluation of the endgame to a requirement for mid-game.  Sigh.

 

3) Hydroid seems to...not suck.  Cool.  Another (on paper) effective rework.  Good going.

4) The bonuses actually are identifiable.  It only took ten years before you didn't have to have a 200+ icon indicator cheat sheet to figure out what one squiggly line meant, versus a slightly different squiggly line.  Yay.  DE now has a feature that most games have launched with.  Joking aside, finally.

 

5) Back to those companions...  Not looking forward to the homogenization of rewards.  If Smeeta is outclassed by any sentinel, because the mod is predictable and player controllable, then why the heck am I going to choose it?  I...just don't get why you balance for one thing, then seem to ignore the loop hole for another.  Thing is, if the rewards for the sentinel drops suck then it's not a balance...if RNG screws you over you can literally have a 40 minute run where the Smeeta only doubles resources once....crappy rewards are superior to none.

6) Math...  It's been a decade, and you are now saying that 100 base, 300 full, and +440% is 740 shields is a problem?  I...seriously?  You're fixing your obtuse mechanics now?  My head hurts.

 

 

I'd love to comment more.  I see nightwave is less annoying, but then more Duviri annoying, and you're adding more so the next 6+ month slog can have us with thousands of spare credits?  It's like looking at a funhouse mirror designed to reflect sense.  I really wish I could be hyped.  I can't because for all of the awesome I'm seeing slogs added on top of slogs...and it's all seemingly centered around new players only.  I know you want to bring new players in...because they become whales.  That said, with a decade of precedent, I'm going to just hope that this is stable...lord knows I'd like to see it as amazing.  The problem though is that it's largely about 5 years late to the party on the best features being promised....so it still beats Star Citizen.  Ouch.

I...have been around since the days of the group quit the second they saw somebody loading into a mission with Limbo.  Every single change for him, bar the initial ability to passively enter the rift and roll out of banishment, has seen him less and less useful.  Funny, or sad.

 

Regarding the later, shield gating is necessary because DE built "challenge" into the game with random death.  They've since tried to remove it by changing the exponential curve for hp/armor, add shield gating, add the operator reviving you after being downed in a warframe, and multiple invincibility/damage mitigation mods that are basically game breaking at lower levels.

I don't think that this is going to be good for a lot of frames...but it will be a nasty surprise to people who return from a hiatus and get wrecked because their dragon key shield gating build no longer works.  It'll just be another thing that is hot button until DE does something else goofy...and we do have one more major release (not Dagath) scheduled before the end of the year.
